QUOTE(forter @ Sep 13 2011, 06:34 AM) To me..i prefer 2.0 over 1.6 not bcoz of kena cucuk by others car or want to race...it is really usefull when you want to overtaking especially on single lane road...and off course u will get KEPUASAN when u drive bigger cc car....for the extra +_ rm13000 from 1.6 to 2.0 is really worth the money....you can compare honda civic price between 1.8 and 2.0...more than rm13000 for 200cc extra... Yupp..the extra torque are handy for a brief & fast overtaking maneuver |

QUOTE(kimhoong @ Sep 15 2011, 04:48 AM) I'm still in dilemma whether to opt for 1.6SX or 2.0SX My advise is, if u can afford the 2.0SX, then go for it. U wont regret..it simply worth the higher monthly payment. As u said, got 6 airbags, leather seats & a more powerful engine..u forgot that the 2.0SX also got the Autocruise & the Electric Power Steering (said to saves fuel). U will appreciate the extra power & torque that it has especially when u need it the most for a quick & brief overtaking maneuver...Better FC + Monthly installment RM200 lesser vs 2.0 THETA II Engine(more powerful) + 6 Air bags + Leather Seats + etc? |

QUOTE(StarGhazzer @ Sep 30 2011, 05:56 AM) What a difference ! The 2nd gear of the old 4 speed autobox can be revved all the way to 110km/h.... Not that it's advisable as you'll be passing the peak torque at 4200rpm by then. That's true..2nd gear can be revved all the way to 110km/h for our 4 speed autobox..i've tried it once last time. However, mine is the 2.0 Forte..not sure about the 1.6 Forte (4 speed) whether it can achieve the same figure |

QUOTE(gregy @ Oct 17 2011, 12:31 PM) As a reviewer on paultan.org found out, the 1.6 Gamma engine is quite lively after 4,000 rpm. If you can live with that then the 1.6 will serve you well. If you really do get the 1.6, I suggest downgrading the wheels to 16" to gain back some performance. 1kg of unsprung weight equals at least 2kg of sprung weight. IOW, every 1kg of weight you take out of the wheels equals 2kg of weight from the rest of the car in terms of performance gain. Like me, I shaved off 3kg from each wheel going from the ori 17" to lightweight 17" OZ wheels. That is equivalent to 24kg less load on the engine. It may not seem like much, so the next thing I'll do is change the spare wheel to a space saver wheel. That will cut out another roughly 10kg. Last thing is to go to the gym and lose 10kg lol... Bro..though i owned the 2.0, i planned to change my stock 17" rims to the lightweight 16" rims. Besides gaining a bit in term of performance, i'm more prefer on comfort driving in which the 16" rims + 205/55 should offer. To your knowledge, got any lightweight 16" rims that well suit our Forte in term of offset, width & of course the PCD? Any brands are preferable as long as it is a lightweight rims |

QUOTE(gregy @ Oct 18 2011, 10:45 AM) Hi bro, I've also been mulling the idea of 16" wheels. One of my favs is the Enkei RPF-1. Some may not like it due to its short spokes but it has the looks of a serious performance wheel, plus it weighs very little, one of the most lightweight wheels you can find today. Costs a bomb though lol... There's also another 16" that I quite like, but very rare. The original 16" on the first batch of Honda Civic 2.0S. They are much nicer than the ones on the Civic 1.8. Very hard to find second hand in tyre shops. TQVVM bro gregy for your huge effort to explain in details regarding my question. As what u have said, rims diameter will influence the rim's rotational inertia right? Less rotational inertia in smaller rims should free up more horses in which it is good for FC & performance. But 1 thing i just learnt from u, 215/45/17 tyre is lighter than the 205/55/16 tyre (for the same brand & model i presume)..correct right? All the while i thought it's more or less posses the same weight..lol. So it means that, if i change to 16" rims & tyres, the less weight that i got from the smaller rims will be offsetted by the heavier tyres. So in order to free up more horses, i need to find the 16" rims that are significantly less in weight (say 3-4kg per rim) so that the tyre extra weight will not entirely offset the reduced weight of the rims. True?If you like to change rims often you might want to consider Advanti also as they are quite light and affordable, but I dunno if they can last. However, if you go for 205-55-16 there should be more than enough rubber to cushion the impact and protect your wheels. Actually, I've been trying to get some info on the "tyre to rim ratio" performance issue. Tyre weight makes up more than half the total weight of the wheel. A 215-45-17 tyre weighs around 10kg thereabouts while a 205-50-16 might be slightly more at 10.5kg or so. I was initially worried that the added weight of the higher profile 16" tyre would actually hurt performance as most of the tyre's weight is concentrated at the outermost part of the wheel's rotational axis. Then that got me thinking, the closer you can bring rotational mass towards the axis (hub) the easier the wheel can turn. By switching over to 16s, you will in effect bring the rim closer to the centre (the heaviest part of the rim is the rim barrel itself and not the spokes/hub part) thus freeing up more horsies. Not to mention that 16" are generally about 1-2kg lighter than 17" (the same model of rim). Another small factor influencing pickup is tyre patch as a 205 tyre would have a smaller contact patch than a 215. However, by reducing rim size (and reducing contact patch size) you are also increasing sidewall height which will compromise cornering ability. To this end, it would be advisable to select a tyre with a strong sidewall so as to minimize flexing during cornering. I'm not so good with tyres so better for you to consult a tyre sifu Since that i'm driving like uncle with defensive driving style & prefer more on comfort driving, compromising cornering ability due to higher sidewall is not my main concern. But i'm surely have to compromise on its braking ability & also its look in which i need to think twice |

QUOTE(tancth @ Nov 15 2011, 02:19 PM) hi, i am a car noob and hv a noobie question. is the green liquid in the radiator spare tank coolant? mine is less than half now. i am thinking of topping it up. what is the current brand SC is using? or can i mix it with others? Top it up with plain water will do. Please make sure that the coolant level is between Min & Max level. Dont overfill it beyond the Max level. The coolant will be flushed out & then replaced with a new coolant by the SC on your major service (every 40k km).. |
