QUOTE(Chrisky @ Sep 23 2005, 09:21 AM)
Iaquinta set for January sale

Udinese have revealed that they intend to sell contract rebel Vincenzo Iaquinta during the January transfer window.

The player has been sensationally axed from the squad after the two parties failed to agree terms to extend his present deal.

Udinese are unwilling to meet his wage demands and the striker now faces the prospect of spending the next three months on the sidelines.

"The player lacks the stimulus to stay here and it would be better to find an alternative solution," said Udinese chief Gianpaolo Pozzo.

wonder will the big guns make any moves ? Juve oledi rumour to hav prepare a bid.

that's a surprise. so where are they gonna get goals after this? Di Natale is a decent player but he's definitely not as good as Iaquinta and so is Di Michele. the last game against Juve which they lost didn't show any good sign either.

Iaquinta pens new deal

Vincenzo Iaquinta has ended his feud with the Udinese after signing a new deal that will keep him at the club until 2010.

The Italy striker had been at loggerheads with the Bianconeri for the past two weeks after initially refusing to extend his contract past 2007.

"The situation has been resolved with satisfaction from both sides," stated the club owner Giampaolo Pozzo.

"The club has really appreciated the intelligence and willingness of the player," added general manager Pietro Leonardi.

According to inside sources, the new deal is set to earn the forward euro1.3 million, almost doubling his previous wage.

Clubs threaten to boycott Serie A matches

Fourteen Serie A sides are threatening to boycotting matches against Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan in a dispute about the way clubs sell their TV rights.

The clubs are demanding a return to collective bargaining with the aim of spreading out television revenue more equally.

"Either we don't play matches against the big clubs or else we send youth teams out to play against them, killing off any interest the matches might have internationally," Sampdoria president Riccardo Garrone was quoted as saying in La Gazzetta dello Sport on Saturday.

Italian Government steps into TV rights row

Italy's communications minister Mario Landolfi told Serie A clubs and television networks to find a compromise and resolve a row about TV rights that has threatened the competition.

Fourteen Serie A sides had threatened to boycott matches against Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan in a multi-million euro dispute about how clubs sell their broadcast rights.

Landolfi, after a three hour meeting with soccer and television chiefs, told a news conference he had told those involved to use their good sense to broker a deal.

'Those in charge of soccer and television have been urged to find a solution that guarantees the championship and fulils the needs of the broadcasters,' Landolfi said.

Toni was unlucky last nite. but he did play well especially in 1-1 situation. both Nesta and Cannavaro were excellent as they crucially blocked/spoilt some of the moves made by the Ghanaians. the Italians will only get better and that's what i'm hoping to see. smile.gif

erm, for me it was a dive by Grosso.. more or less. i always fancied the Italians to go through but not with the way like that. just cruel for the Aussies. but the ref has made his decision and it's final. congrats to Lippi and his men.

to be fair to Italy, the back four did play exceptionally well especially Cannavaro, as they were also being backed/covered by the solid midfielders. Buffon was also brilliant in the goal.

not the 1st time Materazzi did something silly like that. he can play very well but doesn't use his brain sometimes. would much preferred the old horse Paolo Maldini in that role instead of him. too bad he's not in the team. and Lippi can still count on Oddo, Barzagli and Zaccardo just in case Nesta fails to get fit.

the Italians were clearly the better side. really liked the selection as having Camoranesi has helped the team a lot especially on wide area. Totti had a good game in central midfield, and Toni finally managed to score goals, and that should lift his spirit and confidence even higher now.

main reason why Ukraine lost was because they lacked quality in the team.. and experience too. for me, there're just about 3-4 players that really capable of performing at high level, like Shevchenko and Voronin. Voronin was a big miss for Ukraine.

i must say that Materazzi had a fairly good game against the Germans. still far from Cannavaro's world class performance, but the Inter man did play a solid game. the Italians are my favourites to win the WC, but just hope that none of them would do anything stupid like de Rossi did. full respect to Lippi for his team's great tactical display. smile.gif
