Now we need is a targetman. Seems that our back 4 is complete with Antonelli-chiellini-Bonucci-Cricsito.

having 4 good backline defenders are not enough. we need at least 8! molinaro and cassani seem to be the other preferred flankers. but i still hope to see maggio and santon in the try outs as well. as for the centrebacks, we dont really hv other great choices, but i hv high expectation to see ranocchia in the setup too. bochetti in my opinion already blew up his chance of playing for azzurri when he went to rubin mad.gif

Marchisio is doing fine i think. But i would really replace motta with either de rossi or montolivo. And yes, barzagli shuld b fit for ireland. Hope so...
Too bad we didnt score more than one goal in the first half

Euro 2012: Italy qualify if...

It all goes down to the final matches in Group C, as Italy have to beat Ireland and hope for goal difference to go their way in Spain-Croatia.
After Spain’s 4-0 victory this evening, the reigning champions are joint top of Group C with Croatia on four points each.
Italy trail on two, while the Republic of Ireland are already eliminated from Euro 2012 following two defeats.
The Azzurri must win against Giovanni Trapattoni’s Ireland to have any hope of reaching the quarter-finals.
If they win and Spain-Croatia ends in a draw, all three teams will finish up on five points.
Qualification is at this stage decided by goal difference in head-to-head meetings (which is 0, because they're all draws) and then goals scored in head-to-heads.
This means if Spain-Croatia ended 2-2, then both those teams would qualify thanks to a superior number of goals scored in the head-to-heads.
It is exactly the same situation that saw Italy knocked out of Euro 2004 when Denmark and Sweden drew 2-2.
However, if Spain-Croatia were to end 1-1, then the overall goal difference would be taken into consideration.
Italy would be able to go through if they won by at least two clear goals against the Republic of Ireland, but that does not include a 2-0 scoreline. A 3-1 victory would match Croatia's result against Ireland and send the Azzurri through due to their superior UEFA ranking.
If Spain-Croatia were to end goalless, Italy would go through simply by beating Ireland and even top the group.
Italy qualify for the Euro 2012 quarter-finals if they beat Ireland and:
a) Spain-Croatia does not end in a draw.
b) Spain-Croatia ends goalless.
c) Spain-Croatia ends 1-1 and Italy win by at least two clear goals (excluding a 2-0 result).

So the real indicator of Italy should be against highly likely Les Bleus...damn I miss Grosso

i miss zidane rclxm9.gif

such an intense match. i was so nervous especially during the last 30 mins, kept switching channels, hoping either croatia or spain scored. italy should be grateful to be lucky to qualify. now we just have to work harder, no matter which opponent we are facing

this thread makes me becomes more nervous. too long to wait until sun nite. in fact, italy are the quarterfinalist which have the longest rest prior to the game, 6 days in all. hope match fitness is not gonna be an issue later

Anyone read Michael Owen's tweet about Pirlo and Scholes?  doh.gif
*

Pirlo was awesome but we have a player of a similar age and equally as good. Unfortunately he wasn't there. #Scholes

OMG! how annoying it is for him to compare pirlo with scholes rclxub.gif first of all, they're not the same age, like 5 yrs apart. 2nd of all, pirlo is much better than scholes, more creative and a game decider. 3rd of all, pirlo is world cup winner! rclxms.gif

hahahah! in your face, germans!
we did the extraordinary to score two goals in the first half. that really buried their motivation already. we should hv easily won by 4-0 if not by sluggish performances up front during the last 30mins. those last two mins of injury time is scary.

p/s: really love the shot of a teary eye of a german girl after balo's 2nd goal. she knew the was already over smile.gif

Arghh! We are doomed. Nonetheless, there is nothing to be ashamed of by losing in final. Italy came here without any expectation to even reach semi final.
Not a good sub by prandelli. Was hoping to see diamanti in instead of motta

disappointing game for italy. need to buck up much for uruguay game, must be good enough to earn at least a draw.

get rid of abate. he is worthless at right. instead of crossing, keep passing balls sideways. shit!
darmian is still fine.
coaches need to re-train the guys on offside rules, there were so many of them.
pity pirlo and de rossi. they must hv been drained out playing full two matches.

Uruguay in final group game, colombia in 2nd round, brazil in quarter final. All south american teams, playing them at their own continent. We are in a shit situation.

Forza azzurri

good formation, with 4 fresh players; bonucci, verratti, de sciglio and immobile. they better perform well.
azzurri should be playing this game for a win, not a draw.

apart from those young guns we had for wc2014, there are still plenty of talents back in italy whom should earn callups for euro 2016 qualifying.
we do have el sharaawy, santon, florenzi (good season with roma), berrardi (good with sassuolo), destro, rugani, poli to name a few.
what italy need is a coach whom willing to leave behind the cautious mentality and start playing more attacking
just my 2 cents
