I have many knowledge about symbian..

What do you need it for?
Best if you can let us know which models are you comparing. smile.gif

Symbian is going to be fully phased out by 2012. Nokia is going fully into Windows Mobile 7.
Well, there's a lot of criticism going on on Symbian. Personally, I think Symbian^3 is a major improvement. It is very responsive and smooth which makes me wondering why the criticism.
Android is growing very quickly.

1 thing I dislike about Symbian devices is it's having hardware of yesterday to compete today.
ARM11 competing with all the Dual-Cores out there?
It's not a necessity for the firepower when dealing with Symbian I get it, but consumers think otherwise. Consumers look at the hardware with quite a heavy weightage nowadays. Not just a device that can do things, but they want a device that can do things extraoridinarily well.

Though till date, if you're lloking for a device which is strong in photography, get N8 biggrin.gif

It's a little unfair to compare these 2 devices. N8 is by far inferior in many aspects compared to the S2 though both are flagship models of the respective manufacturer unsure.gif

I'm using phone for Multitask, Texting, browsing (using opera), read PDF file (lag and very slow) , GPS, dictionary, torch, casual listening music and taking photo..

This apps is MUST in my symbian
Jbak TaskMan (can multitasking a lot better, faster has many shortcut )
Smart Setting (for shortcut and customize lock and unlock, can unlock using keypad only thumbup.gif )
X-plore (to browse, manage, view, zip, unzip file )

I'm consider nokia N8 and C6-01 or getting android similar price phone..it seem N8 a bit bulky in my hand,,i want to use single hand only..
I'm interested with the new Xperia Mini too,,powerfull hardware same with Xperia Arc..

Yes,, symbian still using ARM11 clocked at 680mhz..Symbian 3 can run smoothly with only 680mhz 256MB RAM only in simple task, but when it run large apps such as gaming, browsing, benchmarking software ? It eat a lot of resource..

I myself come from the Symbian family. I have been a Symbian lover and user since 6600. I could do wonders with that phone that no one else in that era could.

But you need to face facts. Symbian is being phased out. Android grows steadily by the day. Samsung and Sony Ericsson load their flagship models with Android OS, what does that tell you?

Now, excuse me I'm going to check out Symbian Anna. So far no Android has given me what I'm looking for, full touchscreen with QWERTY. Except HTC ChaCha and that's just a horrible name for a phone. vmad.gif

For lotsa free app + free games + better screen UI & better scrooling touch screen, go for Android lor.

For good camera, GPS (Garmin) and if you still loyal to Nokia - stick to Nokia lor.

Your choice liao

If you REALLY know Symbian inside out, you should know very well, What it can do and what it cant do.

Why do you still need to ask?
I think deep inside everyone, there are things that make you want to try it regardless of your inexperience with the newer thing.
My friend who bought a C7 and then bought a Samsung Galaxy S a month later, also can feel the difference despite being total noob in the technicality aspect of the phone itself.

Some BLIND Nokia fans will tell you dont compare. Of course, you must.. and you will list down the pro and con and weight them so that you make the best decision for the phone that served you the best, and not one that you adhere yourself to the standard it was destined to be.

Dual core Exynos at 1.2Ghz vs SINGLE CORE ARM11 at 680Mhz. 1GB RAM vs 256MB doh.gif . 4.3" 480x800 vs 3.5" 640x360. And finally.. the most important feature of all...

It's time to move on to Android bro. You won't regret. As said Symbian is dead with FP2 being its last update.

But of course it's still good to keep a Symbian as a second phone like what I'm doing now tongue.gif

Bought E5 already and keep 5800 in box, more practical using qwerty to chat and forumming than touch screen, long last battery but scarifies screen size and resolution,
i'm still loyal to symbian. laugh.gif
