IT course in MMU do include calculus in the syllabus. but very very basic one.

you know where is the badminton court right? the gym is in the same building as the badminton court smile.gif

That's if its CS.

In CS, there are many majors.
SE is one of them. However, some uni do provide this as a standalone course.

The uni may focus more on programming if they have SE as one of their major.

I do agree that its uni dependant but do you still remember what's the initial question?
*
It is also uni dependent . just like SE. some uni put it as degree in Engineering but some put it under IT. so i think it is up to the uni and the course structure.

Any ideas to solve the problem? There aren't enough land to make parking spaces around. Time for MMU Melaka to expand?

I'm fed up with walking to class when its raining...They need to make those covered walkway from EP to campus like for ixora...

Guys, if i have completed the Add/Drop Subject form (lecturer, dean and ERU signed) and passed to ERU, then my subjects will be added and its done? I mean is there anything else i need to do?
*
not only pass to ERU, they will have to key in to the computer and chop/sign your form and pass you a copy.
then your subject will appear in icems and/or mmls immediately.

QUOTE(kailoonthedog @ Nov 10 2011, 05:39 PM)
They say plagarism is an offence , and touchscreen already invented years ago , but why got MMU student create touchscreen software for FYP but still get nominated for it??Is it some sort like Why wanna reinvent the wheel??
*
plagarism is an offence. we all know that. they are only copying the idea not the design of the original touchscreen. hence it is not consider an offence. But if the touchscreen inventor apply for patent then it is an offence.

QUOTE(Human Nature @ Nov 10 2011, 07:20 PM)
Have you read the thesis and check whether the said FYP has any evidence of plagiarism?

They wont limit the car sticker even thou the car parks are limited as more stickers= more revenue.

Hey guys, MARCH intake 2012 does not offer Software Engineering!! My friend had already resign his current work because he is getting ready for the up coming intake. So, I have a question here, can he join the BIT Computer Science first then change to Software Engineering later? He is coming for MMU Cyberjaya. And are there any better idea?
*
yes he can. tell your friend to take the subjects which are common in both of the degree. so they can credit transfer later.

It is possible, I am graduating earlier 1 semester.

1st of all, im not taking Bsc.IT Multimedia Systems. The answer for your 2nd question is YES, you can chance. But why u want to do so???Cant you just take Bsc.IT Multimedia Systems straight away?

hi, is there anyone studying bachelor in accounting at MMU melaka?

how about the environment, students, lecturers, etc etc at melaka campus? unsure.gif

I've checked for the rental like Emerald Park & Ixora.. the price is affordable for me.. but..which one is better? I've read-ed most of the comment about this 2 apartments at another forum..but still not very sure which one is better rclxub.gif

oh ya one more important question, how was the future if I'm taking accounting at MMU and graduated from there? some 'aunty' told me that dun go to local uni because cannot get good job etc etc sweat.gif (don't really believe in that sweat.gif)
*
Emerald Park and Ixora have their own pros and cons. So it is up to you to choose which 1 u want, or which 1 is nearer.

Your future if you are taking accounting at MMU is totaly depends on you. Your CGPA determines your future. If you go for a foreign U program but graduated with a 2.0 CGPA and compare with a friend whom graduate from MMU with a 1st class honours. You know the difference right?

Local U is much more cheaper than foreign U like Monash, UOW those type. The advantage they have is recognition throughout worldwide, but I doubt that it would be any use if u got your ACCA cert which is internationally recognized.

I've finished my A-levels studies last year and now I'm considering of going into IT field.

My preferred course and university at the moment is Software Engineering in MMU.

With my A levels results I probably could start the course at Degree level.

But I din't took any IT-related subjects in A-levels so I'm wondering whether it would be difficult to start studying software engineering at degree level as I lack the basic knowledges.

So, should I start at diploma level in IT and only after that I continue to degree level? Or it is all right for me to start studying software engineering at degree level?

Or is it okay either way? I thought that maybe this depends on my preference and not really a problem.

Anyone who are studying in IT field or have already graduated, please do share your experiences and opinions.

thank you.
*
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

A levels is accepted for international students, you can ask them out. if they accept locals with A-levels, then you can proceed to degree directly else you will have to start from foundation.

Im an IT student. skipping foundation is no big deal as the things taught there is very basic. I took the foundation because I came here directly from SPM and that is the requirements.

Is it worth to study IT in MMU with 4 years include 1 year foundation or I go to other uni for just 3 year degree course?

Quite blur to make decision now.

it depends on which "other uni" you are refering to. if other ipts, i think there will be no problem such as taylor or appit
if you opt to go to ipta, my advice is to think twice. my 2cent.

Hi Guys.. i wish to ask some information regarding diploma to degree, can you guys help me out please?? sweat.gif

http://cdp.mmu.edu.my/standard_forms/App%20form%20d2b.doc

Now is the last semester for my diploma, hence i wish to join the March intake to cont my degree..
so the question is, from the choice below, which course will be better/suit for IT student?
1) BIT (Hons) Majoring in Security Technology (Melaka)
2) BIT (Hons) Majoring in Data Communications & Networking (Melaka)
3) BIT (Hons) Majoring in Information Technology Management (Melaka)
4) BIT (Hons) Software Engineering (Cyberjaya)
5) BIT (Hons) Information Systems Engineering (Cyberjaya)
6) BMM (Hons) Software Engineering & Games Design (Cyberjaya)

actually im more expert on programming(C++, VB, SQL, PHP..blablabla), but i didn't want my future work just sitting infront computer and keep programming just like a robot, i prefer some work such like network, that work can meet ppl and no ned always sitting infront computer.. that work can be last longer in the future..

I really need you guys suggestion and hopefully some 1 can provide me the subject that will be take on the courses above..

sorry for my broken english, hope you guys can understand and help me out, many thanks and appreciate a lots for you precious reply =)

any part you didn't understand, please tell me and i will try my best to explain it notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

REAL WORLD : usually you will end up doing job that are NOT related to what you study.
taking SE doesnt mean you will end up doing programming, there are so many IT profession other than programmer.
THere are consultant, network engineer, IT sales, DBA, systems engineer, and many more.
YOur criteria : didn't want my future work just sitting infront computer and keep programming just like a robot
theres a lot of profession that let you interact with people.
consultant where u need to advice
even programmer need to interact with clients to get requirements.
my advice : choose what interest you most, thats it. unless you are planning to go into a career in academic field, then its a different story

Is it possible for me to take cross discipline? between bachelor of engineering and comp science.
Im a diploma in Computer Studies student. But im more of a hardware than a software person.
*
Comp science in MMU rarely touches on hardware, even there are, its also theorethical knowledge. no hands on.
but MMU will launch degree in comp science soon..no idea bout the new course structure, maybe you can ask the staff bout this.
if you really opt for more hardware, maybe consider to go to Degree in comp engineering.

QUOTE(tubby myan @ Feb 13 2012, 10:48 PM)
can someone explain me about ptptn. I heard we only get rm5k for foundation. the fee is around rm10k. so if parents need to pay the remaining fee, when they have to pay it?

If I get great result for first sem in alpha level, can i get scholarship? I mean someone else to pay the remaining fee.
*
alpha/ foundation cannot get full loan.. but in degree, you can get full loan which is exceeding your fees, so you can use the extra to subsidize your living expenses.
yes, there are a lot of sponsers such as mara, kuok, ytm, maxis, maybank, msc.. you just have to capture the chance.

QUOTE(chaukeng @ Feb 13 2012, 11:18 PM)
Full loan is around 8k.each time they will give u 4k.fee is around 12k.so u will need an extra 4k by yourself. You will have to pay 1.7k for your 1st semester midterm results.then towards the end of the sem the 4k will come in and u will be able to pay the remaining balance for the semester.which for me is around 2.5k.that leaves u with 1.7k for yr 2nd sem.

scholarship im not sure but i dun think they will give judging by only one alpha semester.
Btw i heard next year we would have a one month break.is that true?
*
http://www.mmu.edu.my/index.php?req=109
from the academic calender, only 1 of the semester have 1 month break, others like 3 weeks oni..

Hi all, i need some guidance here.. -___-

This is my final year in diploma in business adminstration and i plan to further my study to degree level..

See im interested in economics and there is economics subject offered in cyberjaya campus. Im having problem in choosing between.

The subject offered is
1. Knowledge Economics
2. Analytical Economics

I consult with my academic advisor before and she pointed out that Knowledge economics is more to multimedia while Analytical is more to mathematical application.. She said that these courses is quite new and better if i go and ask seniors.

Im really really interested in economics but sadly my maths NO GOOD and i dont really like multimedia thingys..

So is there any senior doing these courses ma? boleh briefly tell whats the course is about.. thankiu !
*
both are pretty much the same thing. you will be exposed to both IT and also mathematical question anyhow, just the matter of which is more only.

my recommendation is to get advice from the program coordinator directly..
