OMG...I've been away from the forums for sooo long! I've heard there is a stock Gingerbread firmware out already? Any idea if speedmod kernel still works on that?

i tried darky's rom for a while and now im thinking of going back to stock...gone to gingerbread JVO i believe...but I'm seeing something really weird...the samsung galx loading screen...the one with the big 'S' is kinda slow...otherwise everything's ok. thinking of going back to 2.2.1 JPY and installing speedmod kernel. I really liked JPY before

How often do you boot up your phone to admire the S thing? If not very often, I'd suggest you consider it a minor annoyance only..
*
True...but that prob indicates I've either screwed up the flashing or that it's not very optimized. Thinking about giving CM7 a try. Does it drastically change the touchwiz look?

as long as u are still able to go to download mode or recovery mode, you are still safe
*
That's right...i bricked mine a while back without download or recovery either. You can take it back to the Samsung centre and fake a story about Kies etc etc. Don't worry about it. If you have download mode, flash a new rom through Odin, or do a factory reset from recovery mode.

Hey guys, I'm a new galaxy s user. I need some help of what to do for my half bricked phone. It happen when i rebooted after connecting with KIES. It's stuck at the S logo and went blank. Is there anyway i could fix it without taking it back to the shop. Any help or explanation is highly appreciated.
*
Dude you don't need to flash a new firmware. Try going into recovery mode (vol up + home + power). If u can do that you can do a factory reset. This happened to me once as well.

thanks for the reply reehdus. i did try this and nothing happened. it's still stuck at the blank screen. now i'm still trying the odin method. i'm running on a stock 2.2 anyway. if you have other solutions do tell me. thanks again for the reply bro.
*
Hmm...that did the trick for me though. By blank screen you mean completely black? It doesn't show 'Galaxy S' or boot animation or anything? You can get into recovery and download mode too right? I guess if there is no other choice you can do the Odin flashing.

just flashed to stock jv9...true, i am experiencing the laggy boot animation (probably due to not flashing the new bootloader?)...but i really like the responsiveness of jv9 and the battery life. Not yet rooted...but am really keen on BLN...normally hardcore's speedmod kernel includes root, lagfix and BLN all in one but he hasn't done it yet...think I'll wait for that..

there're downloads under 2 headings, one's With bootloader, the other's without. Make sure u download the one With bootloader, then u'll get 3 files, flash them accordingly. you don't have to tick "Phone Bootloader Update" since it's included in PDA, it'll be flashed anyway.

If u don't have recovery mode and laggy/corrupted boot animation, most likely u din have an updated bootloader

Added on June 6, 2011, 6:00 pm
still have recover mode? if yes, then good to go

EDIT: if u don't have the updated bootloader, flash it over here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1047924. remember to tick "Phone Bootloader Update"

NOTE: It's not recommended to flash bootloader alone. some Gingerbread has different bootloaders. make sure the above is compatible wif ur GB. better to flash the whole rom.
Try at ur own risk smile.gif
*
Yup...still got recovery mode...I think I do indeed have the updated bootloader...thanks for ur help guys...maybe I'll try a reflash and see why I'm getting this weird laggy animation...

i'm looking for those different lockscreens like they have on custom roms. sad.gif

anyway to do it?
*
I remember seeing an app in the market for custom lockscreens where u could have the Droid lockscreen, stock Froyo lockscreen etc...you can try looking at that...just search in Market and see if you can find it...

anyone who already flashed to JV9 got those extra apps for starhub, M1? got mine when I flashed to JV9 using ramad's deodexed rom. those are singapore company right? really weird, though my IMEI are intact hmm.gif
*
i also flashed to jv9 but i dont have any extra apps for starhub etc. Bur I flashed the stock ROM from Ramad, not the deodexed one.

change the product code to XME and it will take care of that.

*#272*your imei#

Note: it will auto wipe data/factory reset
*
XME is for Maxis right, i think DGI is for digi and CCM is for Celcom (or something like that)...unless I'm mistaken
