QUOTE(CrossX @ May 11 2011, 09:24 PM)
i used Froyo custom rom and GB custom rom b4
I prefer froyo since its more stable, GB rom is yet to be stable yet... battery drain is one of the issues but i experienced quite a few problems with apps to seems like its incompatible therefore i went back to froyo doc's rom...

MIUI rom is really interesting, a whole new experience of android with speed too, but battery drain kills me... heard its a lot more refined nowadays not sure yet...
*
battery drain should be due to improper flashing, try a clean flash. then u shld kno hw to get rid of "software update" too right? biggrin.gif

This a absolutely the same Gingerbread experince happen on me previously.
Some apps can't even run smooth on this ROM.
Don't you think Gingerbread is the failure project on Android?
However, looking farword on the next android version: Ice Cream Sandwich!
*
care to share wad apps doesn't run smoothly on Gingerbread??

instead of using this to gain ext4

cd c:/your_ADB_directory_name/platform-tools (Use cd c:/your_ADB_directory_name/tools if you are using an older ADK versions)
adb shell
su
cp -r /efs /sdcard/efs
exit
exit

do we have another way??i wan to use deoxed ROM but then installing android SDK takes me sometime d sad.gif

u can use Voodoo sound bcoz DamianGTO puts it in his kernel. GTO kernel doesn't auto convert to ext4 rite? don think u're on ext4. better check, never used GTO on Gingerbread b4

You guys don't seem the least worried about using DamianGTO's kernel. You do know that without a source to confirm, he could be slipping malicious code in?
*
yeah, I know u mentioned about it in the last thread. but I never use his kernel tongue.gif

Anyone tried TweakyROM?

I've tried:

Juwe - theme is black based and notification is too transparent to be of use. Flashing any theme doesn't really work as only some framework is changed. ROM is smooth but not as smooth as GoaTrip.
GoaTrip - Using DamianGTO kernel so naturally I skipped using it fully. ROM was smooth though, and he seem to be using a modded TW4 (not fully TW4 but somekind of TW4)
Edit: Rom might be smoother in GoaTrip because of the modded TW4, it's very light.

Downloading Tweaky right now.
*
I'm using Tweaky's rom tongue.gif so far so good. love the SGS II's looks laugh.gif having problem login facebook SNS but tat shld be my own problem after I installed SGS II's social hub. till now the facebook thing kept expiring, asking me to login, so basically I cant sync my facebook to my contacts cry.gif
hmm... haven't restore all my apps so cant really say about it's performance. maybe I'll think to convert to ext4 hmm.gif

i read Ramad's and don't really understand about these:
and if i want to flash XWJVH, which one should I choose? the one under the 2.3.3 heading or 2.3.3 (Stock 3e recovery)?
*
tat's to backup ur efs folder, if I'm not mistaken, u can use root explorer to copy the folder out to ur internal sd then keep it safe in ur pc. can anyone confirm whether using root explorer works??

for flashing JVH, I suggest reading here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1011901

just tested Asphalt 6, works great laugh.gif only that Nova has white screen, can't be played. read on other forums that they experience the white screen problem with Nova only. I guess Gameloft ditched Nova and support Nova 2 for Gingerbread, as it only works on 2.3 onwards smile.gif

flashed my phone with (XXJVH) 3 files, PDA, PHONE, CSC with repartition unticked and no pit. however, got the following errror when trying to reboot my phone.

E:Can't mount /dev/block/st110
(Invalid argument)
E:copy_dbdata_media:Can't mount DBDATA:

your storage not prepared yet, please use UI me
nu for format and reboot actions.
copy default media content failed.

So that's what it's saying when i flash then it reboots by odin.
If i select "reboot system now" it will reboot but till the "S" and then it go's black....

However, after wipe data/factory reset it's able to boot. What causes this and do I have to reflash again?

ya I know, what I'm thinking is does that E:copy_dbdata_media:Can't mount DBDATA: thingy do any harm even after I factory reset? I know this problem shld arise due to pit files coz I din use any

to be honest, i also experiencing the same problem as i flashed new rom...

yes..i think it is because of the pit mapping..

someone with superior technical knowledge should be able to answer that..

so far i don't encounter any problem...

Added on May 12, 2011, 9:38 am

i don't have paid apps..only top free and just in only..using cm7... ohmy.gif  ohmy.gif

Ya, I'm thinking whether shld I reflash with pit since I can get my phone working now hmm.gif
EDIT: just reflashed with 512pit. successful

I can see paid apps dy rclxms.gif have to click further into apps/games where previously there's top free/just in, now just added top paid! laugh.gif

Edit:
When flashing bootloaders, be sure to tick "Update Bootloaders" in Odin, but be careful, any ter-yank your cable or suddenly PC no power or suddenly flashing failed then you have a bricked phone already.
*
hmm, I thought when u flash bootloaders only not the whole rom then u have to tick "Update Bootloaders"??
