Sifus out there,

I'm looking for the perfect rangefinder bag for me, and I've narrow it down to basically these three brands/models.

In no particular order:

Domke Bag

M Classics Bag

Billingham Classic 550/Hadley Bag

user posted imageuser posted image

I asked around, looked around KL, and I've yet to see any shop and find anybody who are using these brands cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif

Also if any of you know of a good, sturdy, heavy duty leather rangefinder bag that's not too big, let me know as well! biggrin.gif

Help?

I prefer Billingham or the leica classic M bag. You may need to get it online or bid one from ebay, shop around in SG if you happen to go there, you will find a lot of goodies there.

Camera shops in KL hardly have ready stock for these bags , even they do it will be more expensive than anywhere !

I got my Billingham Bags from Shashinki.com.
The model I got was the Billingham f/Stop Series f1.4 for my DSLR.
It's around RM800.

If I were to use Leica M Series/Fuji X100 (which you have), I would definitely go for the M Classics Bag. The price is pretty decent plus the shipping is reasonable. Besides, all the practical-ness, it screams quality too.

Domke Bags, I'm not too into it. I find them rather too bland for my taste. But hey, if it works for you. Why not ?

Singapore eh. Hmmm thanks mate. Dammit cannot be la Malaysian have no taste! tongue.gif

There's one more though that I've been eyeing on for a long while. Only recently realised that it's perfect for a heavy duty camera bag!

Duluth bag. Not exactly a camera bag, but it's tough as hell. Should've bought em while i was in the states cry.gif

made with fire hose material! shocking.gif shocking.gif shocking.gif

Images are rather large though, but worth it IMO

For Billingham, check out Keat Camera Service (Pudu) or J One (Amcorp).

That's what I was told by Shriro representatives.

Yeah, I need soft soft leather (FYI my AA strap also the soft leather kind) bag. more ergonomical, wraps around my body, good when in the jungle biggrin.gif

Prolly gonna go Keat soon smile.gif thanks!

I didn't know it's such a difficult job to get a good, solid leather camera bag in Malaysia! Has it always been like this?

if i were you, i'd clean and condition the leather. if it's vintage (and definitely looks worn out), first u pakai j&j baby shampoo and warm water and lather it. pakai towel and dry it, then pakai leather conditioner and microfibre or kain tak kasar and polish it. make sure you dampen the kain first so not much conditioner kena kulit. do it several times, each time waiting around 30-60 mins to coat it.

or you can just send it to a GOOD dry cleaner that can dryclean leather tongue.gif if you dunno wether they use good chemicals or kuat ones, then might be better to do it yourself. good rule of thumb that i learn over the years is treat your leather like how you treat your skin, and it'll last a lifetime. you don't really wax your skin, so don't wax your leather. stuff like that wink.gif

not selling the brown one ah? brows.gif brows.gif brows.gif

dissapointed edi. the brown ones tarak. they said supplier no stock doh.gif
oh well.

rx330, just note that since it's vintage, the leather dye/color might run off if you send it for dry cleaning. just a fair warning tongue.gif

hi, bro, can check out the prices of 335 and 207 for me? help me to check also whether black colour with black/tan leather trim is in stock or not too. notworthy.gif

I was there last Thursday to check out the Thinktank R10 but find it abit too small, the R30 a bit too big pulak.... sweat.gif hopefully they come out with one size in between. The R20 size is vertical, not my type. There are tonnes of bags there but i din notice there is billingham around. Most likely becoz it was not my target. laugh.gif

regarding those Billingham bags

YLcamera.com.my also sell (see below for link). Nearby Keat only but nowadays mostly no stock everywhere. Maybe England also got Earthquake or Tsunami

This Shiriro is the distributor but they are practically useless people. I ordered one from them since CNY, until now they tell me no stock but my guess is the girl dun even bother as she didnt even take down my phone number.

you can also order one from mr.chan in singapore but he only accepts Bank TT which cost around RM80 (depending on your bank) just to send him money. Plus the postage from SG to MY.

I got tired of waiting, and thinking, and going around. So I got myself this in the meantime tongue.gif.

Not exactly a camera bag, but strong, sturdy enough. And great looking too! Although it's a wee bit on the large side.
With enough paddings and compartments I'd able to stuff 3 or 4 Dslrs I think @_@

Where to get paddings btw? Do they sell just the paddings themselves?

see quite a lot of interest in billingham. Since I am staying in JB, i might be able to conduct a MO to buy from Spore if there is enough interest but I think the most i can only take back 3 or 4 bags thru custom without tax in a trip. But i need to get the prices first. hmm.gif

J One and Keat Camera sells them. If you are patient enough you can order from either 1 of them which requires a deposit.

Currently J One still has a Billingham Hadley Small - Sage colour.

As for me, I've already ordered from PK Chan and hoping it arrives by Sunday! smile.gif

oh btw, Keat Camera in Pudu/Cheras just restocked their Billingham bags. Might wanna go there for a visit.

I got the bag last week (or more? I forgot).

To be honest I knew I wouldn't like the bag quite as much as I'd wanted, since it's a fake Bill in terms of quality, etc. When the bag arrived it was crumpled a bit, but not exactly noticeable. The straps are a bit too pendek for my liking (the bag sits above my pants). But overall it's quite a nice bag to have.

But more importantly, I wanted the bag primarily for the insert tongue.gif and although it's a bit on the soft side, it does it's job pretty well if I must say when put inside my other new bag tongue.gif

To me, while this isn't really a camera bag, it is AWESOME as a camera bag. Priced around the Hadley range, and awesomely tanned leather. size is right, and very very limited quantity around KL.

regarding those Billingham bags

YLcamera.com.my also sell (see below for link). Nearby Keat only but nowadays mostly no stock everywhere. Maybe England also got Earthquake or Tsunami

This Shiriro is the distributor but they are practically useless people. I ordered one from them since CNY, until now they tell me no stock but my guess is the girl dun even bother as she didnt even take down my phone number.

you can also order one from mr.chan in singapore but he only accepts Bank TT which cost around RM80 (depending on your bank) just to send him money. Plus the postage from SG to MY.

LOL until now Shiriro hasnt call me back regarding the billingham hadley inserts. Glad I bought from PK Chan instead.

Btw the Hadley insert is really useful. I can use it in my backpack or just about any messenger back. The best thing is that you are not stuck to one type of camera bag.

Here is how it looks like. Its very small and good for mirrorless system

It comes with some dividers with velcro fasteners

No more/less even if you were to use the whole Billingham bag cause its still the same thing in the Hadley bag. Its just that you can buy the insert separately

Yes its padded.

how much you bought it from PK Chan? Thinking of getting 1 for my normal backpack for overseas trip. If can't find a suitable one, may just put my 10 years old Lowepro Nova 2 inside the backpack - a bag within a bag. laugh.gif

@rx330, what new bag you wanna get? I got a Thinktank Photo Retrospective 10 instead of Billingham. R10 is a very solid bag too - not too flamboyant. blush.gif
