@BRY7, since there are no official recall program for such problem (even if it's well-known), the owner should make a call to AppleCare and make a case before sending in the unit to service center. That will make things easier to process.

If AppleCare agree to honor the claim, they will issue a case # and direct the owner to send the iPad to one of the service center for inspection. Once confirm by the technician, replacement should take place.

Calling local service center will not give you any result as they will just follow instruction from Apple. At the moment there is no recall.

Got the case number already, so I proceed to the service providers now?

Yes, give the service center the AppleCare case number when you hand them the iPad.

Hmm... they extended the operating hour? I remembered they accept call till 6pm or 7pm only.

Im not too sure about that.
They told me apple is aware of this issue and will replace my unit by all means
