Guys, it's finally time to change the tyres on my Neo CPS. I really wanted RE001 but due to budget issues I had to look at other choices.

I am willing to spend around RM1K for the tyres. Any good recommendations? I was told the Neo tyre size is a weird one 195/50/16. Not a lot of choices. I am trying to avoid CSC-1 if possible. Kinda sucky to me. Grip in dry is decent but in wet is horrible and dangerous.

I am looking for decent grip for the occasional spirited driving and a safe tyre for wet condition (take note I don't plan to drive fast when raining, just want something that is safe when it's raining).

If possible, I like to keep the same size. Don't really want to go to 45 because the Neo ride is already not the best, don't wanna make it any worse that it is.

I read around and saw someone recommending Yokohama A drive R1. What's the opinion of this?

Try Conti CPC2, 195/50/R16, quite a decent tire with AA traction... 1 thing I don't like is the noise... Got it few months back for RM268 per piece

Any comments from users of ContiPremiumContact 2??
*
I am using CPC2 195/50/R16. Grip is good for the price you paid, especially wet. Noise? Not really good, kinda noisy, maybe my car's insulation not good? Other users reported that this tire will wear faster, not sure...

Conclusion: For RM268 per piece, I cannot find any other tire that is better than this one in term of C/P smile.gif

Any tried the new ContiMaxContact 5? New series of tire from Continental. Better than ContiPremiumContact 2, and it is silica compound claimed by the tire shop owner.

Hi guys, am going to change tire soon, so would like to get some suggestion biggrin.gif
Driving swift 1.5, not a slow drive but not wangan-style driver, love to attack corner, damn concern on wet grip, noise will be my last concern.

Budget: Max RM400 per piece

Currently using Continental CPC2 195/50/R16, what I like to comment about this tire is..
1. Cheap and cheerful
2. For the price you paid, it is perform very well
3. Wear is fast (Bought march 2011, now left 10%++)

So far I have few in my minds..

195/50/R16
1. Continental MC5, RM300 per piece, tauke said better than CPC2 in overall(Grip, silica compound, less noise, durability), sounds so promising
2. Kumho KU31, price not sure, seems to be a value-for-money tire except it is noisy and poor on wet
3. Toyo T1-R, price unknown, grippy tire as written on review
Due to lack of choices for above size, I did consider the following...

205/50/R16
1. GoodYear Directional 5, price unknown, had reviewed by TOM from ZTH using his Cooper S, I guess this one is more than enough for my ride tongue.gif
2. Michellin PS3, price unknown, everyone know this tire well, but for me michellin tire kinda overpriced for me sad.gif

There are few other choices but not sure if size is available...
1. Hankook V12 Evo
2. Federal 595RS

I hope you guys can give me some comments on my options and suggest me something(Tak nak Achilles or china brand tire pls tongue.gif )

THANKS! smile.gif

As what I have been thinking which one to buy on previous post, I have decided to go for Directional 5 instead of MaxContact 5 as I wanna try UHP tire. Here is what I have feel so far

This feedback is based on Continental ContiPremiumContact 2 - 195/50/R16 VS GoodYear Eagle F1 Directional 5 - 205/50/R16

1. More comfort and quiet, the yellow line on road, cracked tar road, and uneven road, just feel it has been soften and less harsh. Maybe it is still new? GF felt it too, plus point tongue.gif
3. Better high speed corner, tried on a long bend on highway, usually go with around 120km/h as quite much rolling for me to go further, max 130km/h I guess? But this time I go 140km/h, significant less rolling and I have the confident to go further!
4. Thread design is cool biggrin.gif
5. Steering response is much better, it goes where I point it to go
6. Accleration sucks. I tried to weight the tire with my hands, definitely heavier than conti, now have to suck it up with poor FC and acceleration I guess sad.gif

Price? You can get it for RM350 for this size around klang

Others like wet condition are yet to be tested. Will post my feedback on wet soon

Thanks for reading notworthy.gif

Tried from 35 to 40 psi on the C drive 2, harder improved handling a bit, but it still sucks.

What size are you using?? Isn't it 35 to 40 quite high ?

thats what i was wondering too, im on 15" and i pumped 32 for all tires and there wasnt much bumpy feeling/instability, if any at all.

and yes i sometimes whack corners around 100km/h too lol.
any more then my car will tailspin itself because im still on 12 years old iswara stock springs and i have really bad body roll.

straight ways, ive driven at most 168 +/- km/h before smile.gif
no issues, no instability. cuz lol straight way.
*
I have no idea how much to pump as I have changed size from 185/60/R15 to 195/50/R16, still I follow the manufacturer spec, front 230kpa, rear 210kpa tongue.gif

Funny thing is... Suzuki SC told me to pump 32psi for front and rear hmm.gif

i thought you need to pump more when you upsize? lol
*
That is the thing keep bugged me quite some times. Theoretically we need to pump higher pressure if he upsize, but all tire man say 32psi is enough, I was confusing...

Hi guys, currently using CPC2 195/50 R16, which is the stock tyres for my fiesta.
Grip and noise level is great, but treads wore out in just a year, now nearly reaching the treadwear indicators. I do travel quite a lot though, these tires went through 40,000km.

So I'm just wondering, is the treadwear normal, or is it wearing out pretty fast? Should I maintain these tyres (as in buy new, but same brand) or change to another brand?
thanks in advance!
*
I have just finished a set of 195/50/R16 CPC2 couple months back, this tire wears faster, I managed to clock 30k KM with this tire. Kajang -> Cyberjaya, no slow down on bend roads and spirited driving.

You can consider Conti MC5 for the same size, price is around RM20-30 more than CPC2. Or upgrade to 205/45/R16
