Thunderer Mach IV quick review
Needed to replace my Inspira's stock 17" Conti MC5 tyres after 45k mileage and was looking for something below 300.00. Read about Thunderer and saw some mixed reviews. Here's mine.
The 215/50r17 Mach IV model tyres are directional but have a finer thread which make it quieter than the 215/45 which I think most ppl complain about.
I travelled about 800km in total so far and find that it's quite nice to drive. Yes, it's still a little noisier than conti mc5 but not too much. I think after 20-30k kms most tyres become noisy and by then we too sort of get used to the noise.
Highway driving at 130-150km/h was comfortable and tyres held grip well (dry conditions).
City driving with speeds up to 90km/h was also decent but a little bumpy but I think that's due to a but of over inflation and I'm comparing to mc5 which is quite good in that regard.
Im not the type to drive hard and take corners fast so I can't comment on the performance in such conditions. I think it's a decent tyre to get for your average daily driving and long distance driving avoiding extreme speeds (>140kmh). Certainly not the best but good enough if you're not too fussy.
I paid RM280.00 /pc compared to RM 400.00 for the mc5 and so I'm pleased with the savings (for now).
