i wanna to buy a new laptop as a college student.. for daily use (word, adobe, photoshop, internet, simple games, movie....) n i want a laptop that can run multiple tasks at the same time at fast speed.
so is it much differences between i3 and i5 or even i7 for me? how about 1st generation and 2nd generation? i m just using it for daily simple use..
pls give me some advices n suggestion.. thank you very much..
*
2nd generation processors are definitely better nod.gif Huge performance leap from its predecessor rclxms.gif
Whether SB i7 is needed or not depends on what you're doing with your "multiple tasks" laugh.gif
Anyway, budget, preferred laptop size?

I need help on choosing a laptop for my gf
requirements:
i5and above (2nd gen)
usb 3.0
15 inch LED backlight
8gb ram
not too heavy in weight
able to play full hd
no hardcore gaming (only fb game)
able to last for at least 4 years (compatibility/capability)

preferred brand: acer/asus/hp/compaq
thanks
*
Almost any notebook is capable of playing fullHD movies nowadays.
And no notebooks are future proof... whether its lasts (physically) or not depends on how you take care of it nod.gif

Acer

Since its for your girlfriend, you might want to consider Dell instead so that it won't be too troublesome when problems arise:

wah..liddat senang la laugh.gif . now the dilemma  hmm.gif. oh btw, which do u guys think is better, Inspirons or the Asus models (A43Sv / A53Sv) ?
*
Inspirons for more convenient warranty support, Asus A series for reliability and bang for buck nod.gif (oh ya, and less glossiness too) hehe

hehehe, but how come both asus model same price punya ?

A43Sv, i5-2410M + Nvidia GT540M(1GB)@RM2399
A53Sv, i5-2410M + Nvidia GT540M (1GB)@RM2399

does this mean get A53Sv more worth it ?
*
That's marketing strategy haha brows.gif
You can see similar strategies applied by other brands as well~
Just because the 15" is bigger doesn't mean its more worth it~
It depends on whether you want portability or a larger screen (and better cooling) laugh.gif

bos, i got more question lah.

is there really big difference between i3 2nd generation and i5 2nd generation?  hmm.gif

Asus N43JM-VX035V. this one okay or not. price same 2399.  icon_question.gif
*
Whether the performance differences are big or not depends on what programs you use laugh.gif
Asus N43Jm is no more laugh.gif
Asus A43Sv and N43SL (need to top up at least RM100 for better quality and features) are pretty much the best for your price range nod.gif

hehe so sneaky  tongue.gif . i think im going to get my hands on an A53Sv. one more question, can recommend which shop to go to buy the laptop ? not sure where to get ASUS products  sweat.gif . I'm living near pj area.
*
Any large shop in Digital Mall/ LYP will do. Try to bargain and then buy from the shop offering the lowest price nod.gif
Which shop you buy from doesn't really matter since should any problem arise in the future, you'll be sending the laptop to the service center anyway nod.gif

1. Brand = ANY
2. Budget = RM7k or less (max will go is a macbook pro 15" i7 but still thinking)
3. Specs. = i7 SB, as much RAM as possible (can self upgrade), great vid card
4. Size as portable as possible. but wouldnt mind 14/15 if it is really good.

5. Function = Most of the Adobe Creative Master Collection Cs5, Cinema 4d, sketch up

haha

Alienware M14x? laugh.gif

M14x looks like a beastly machine. but cant push to 12 gigs right? i'm open for 15" too. had a MBP 15" which i took around as well. back breaker but survived.

then again, i would get myself a tablet (an excuse to get a tablet) for presentations and stuff
*
Don't think can push to 12GBs at the moment for the m14x hmm.gif
But the processor option is good (if you need it), even better than most 15 inchers out there laugh.gif

Other 15 inchers (good performance and portability don't come together haha):
MSI GT680R, i7-2630QM + GTX460M + (1920x1080)@RM6999 [Dynaudio], 12GB RAM, McAfee (3 users), 3 years warranty (1st year global)

The RRP price for the N43SL is RM2599, but after bargain, you should be able to hit close to RM2.5k nod.gif
I think the design is very good too wub.gif

how good lenovo..compare to asus n dell n acer
*
Lenovo offers some of the best keyboards around, so it'll be nice since you're looking for something comfortable nod.gif
Current Acer Aspire series still sticked to the flat island style keyboard which is not as comfortable as the Lenovo...
Dell offers chiclet keyboards which are clattery and doesn't "feel" that good (of course, perception may differ from person to person). The glossiness of current Inspiron laptops would be a cons as well if you're typing a lot...
Din't typed alot on the Asus A series, so can't really comment... but the keyboard feel is not as good as Lenovo's

I guess its just down to Asus for 2 years warranty, Lenovo for typing experience laugh.gif

15 inchers in general are better, but the size and weight increase should be considered...
And summore there's not much 15" under RM2k...
The Inspiron 15R is very glossy and not really suitable for work imho hmm.gif Not to mention the specs are poorer as well sad.gif
