does the vostro line use switchable graphic? the detail on dell website is quite confusing
sweat.gif  sweat.gif

i thought in configuration page, you can choose either radeon 6630 and intel hd, it should be just either one?
*
haha, good find there bro laugh.gif
Well, switchable graphics are only available if you opt for a dedicated GPU (duh!) laugh.gif
Iinm, the AMD HD6630 in the Inspiron 14R is switchable as well, so it won't be a surprise if the Vostro is capable of doing that as well nod.gif

XPS 15z is damn slim XD

The only thing innovative about it is the keyboard lol... others are just too..... predictable...
The chassis contains too much elements from the standard XPS 15... and the speaker grills look just like those in Lenovo units sweat.gif
But still, its the slimmest 15" I think? hmm.gif

And yes, I did play with the G470 myself and it feels like I'm molesting a hot chick
HP on the other hand is just very conventional with their ways of selling laptops and it's just not appealing yet expensive
*
Well the Dm4 is quite old already, new ones have improved. Mentos, perhaps you can take a look at other HP units nod.gif
But still, I would say the G470 is better nod.gif

Both yes and no, depending on usage iinm:

QUOTE(compreviews)
More And Less Power

One of the big complaints that peripheral manufacturers had with USB 2.0 was the power limitations. Devices were restricted to just 500mA of power from a single powered port. This wasn't always enough to power some devices requiring that they either piggy off a second USB 2.0 port or have an external power adapter. This is especially true of many larger external storage devices such as DVD burners and desktop sized hard drives. The maximum power for USB 3.0 devices has increased up to 900mA off single bus-powered ports. Additional power is also available for suspended and unconfigured devices.

While the USB 3.0 specifications allow for additional power, they also are looking to reduce the overall power consumption of devices as well. There are a greater number of low powered states available for devices so they when the device or host is idle, less powered is used over the bus to the device. Some signaling changes have also been made so that less broadcast traffic is generated between a host and all the connected devices.

As a conclusion, this 5 model also support USB 3.0 port ?
What is your suggestion to buy?^^

As suggested by pandera999, its either N43Sl or Ideapad Y470, though I would recommend you to extend your warranty to 3 years for the Lenovo (which means forking out more money laugh.gif , it'll be worth it, especially for a monster like that laugh.gif )

Asus N43SL, i5-2410M + Nvidia GT540M@RM2599[2.4kg][Bang & Olufsen] nod.gif for reliability and sales after service
Y470, i7-2630QM + Nvidia GT550M@RM2999[JBL] if you do graphics, thats ok.. and its a quad core... better than HP Pavilion Dv4, i7-2620M as it just dual core i7.

Asus isn't really famous for its after sales services laugh.gif
