QUOTE(ellebasi @ May 23 2011, 03:10 PM) wow...after reading about rooting, I'm really intrigue to try it but I've just bought my galaxy many app requires rooting, especially utilities apps..it's really not that hard if you read the instructions and setup the environment correctly. mine was rooted the 2nd day i got the sgs2, all went smooth.. and i'm totally new to Android (though not new to phone firmware flashing.. ). Added on May 23, 2011, 4:51 pm QUOTE(Reuben @ May 23 2011, 04:47 PM) Having used the Atrix and also the Galaxy S1, both of them are equipped with gorilla glass the same thing with the S2 so honestly it is not strictly necessary for a screen protector. after seeing this, i really paranoid and think twice before running it naked..i'm now using the clear type screen protector, peace of mind.. for going into the "Download mode", for any flashing to made possible. and to reset the "custom rom" flash count.
then again the 3 button method (Home + Vol down + Power) works well. |

QUOTE(ame904 @ May 23 2011, 05:01 PM) just want to ask u guys..do i need to use high performance microsd card if i wnt to buy one like the one using in dslr or just buy the normal one..im considering to buy 32Gb microsd card..is the higher the class of the memory the better ot is?..tq guys in advance.. higher the class the faster.u don't really need a fast card, i guess the most performance taxing is during 1080p video recording.. then again, i haven't benchmark mine yet whether my slow 16gb is up to the job.. |

QUOTE(OrangePillow @ May 25 2011, 05:29 PM) haha...busy playing with phone.. no time to change signature status... btw my phone damn hot browsing, dowloading..h setCPU can help downclock the CPU when not underload, which could translate into cooler operation.. but yeah, it's warm under heavy operation, and it's hot doing its wifi hotspot deed.. QUOTE(ventrilocks @ May 26 2011, 10:35 AM) my nokia in car charger is working fine with the SGS2.I guess any in car charger with standard microusb plug will work. for driving navigation purpose, it might be better if the charger output is high enough to coupe with SGS2's power consumption. what i notice is that, when i do wifi hotspot with SGS2, the USB power that cap at 0.5A is not quite enough, that i'm still seeing battery power declining when plugged in to laptop. that being said, the nokia in car charger that i have can at least provide enough juice for the sgs2 on GPS navigation. |

use odin to semi-brick your phone if you like to syok syok click checkbox..
Added on May 26, 2011, 7:58 pmseriously, odin is easier if you know what you are doing. u need to have: - driver properly installed (easily dealt with by installing kies) - knowledge to enter Download Mode - knowing which checkbox (not) to check. with odin, u don't need to wait for official ROM release, can even flash custom rom with it, easily. QUOTE(brotan @ May 26 2011, 10:14 PM) this is inline to what i read from chinese websites.HK for instance is getting tegra2 + samoled plus. wondering if the whole of asia will follow this batch.. Ur laptop's bluetooth is probably 2.1. Isn't this mentioned in a lot reviews? Saying that is is made for future purpose? i suppose there's this thing called "backward compatibility".the issue is with the driver, not hardware. QUOTE(rachy @ May 26 2011, 11:13 PM) thanks h11g, jonrwg, and weeluvmal the package comes with original KE7 kernel (duh.. ), so no, u don't need the stock kernel if you plan to stick to unrooted condition.so im going to use odin to upgrade to KE7 using this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 just want to confirm, i only need to download the Generic XEU right? no need to download the stock kernel unless i root the phone later on, is that correct? however, if you have previously rooted your phone, yet intend to upgrade to KE7, then you would want the KE7 stock kernel to be restored after root. the proper (short) step, 1) odin the XEU to you phone. 2) (re)do your root. (insecure_kernel & superoneclick) 3) restore KE7 stock kernel. -- the root (superuser & busybox) will stay even after you restored the kernel to stock. |

QUOTE(Sky.Live @ May 26 2011, 11:08 PM) I saw this thread in a search for battery performance.. i think their idea is to "train" the phone to interpret the power level correctly. the battery should already be pre-conditioned by the manufacturer.I wonder that.. http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article...m_ion_batteries Do not over discharge the battery.. Meaning just charge the battery whenever it's low.. It's not your old grandma Nickel Battery anymore didn't really drain mine though, just start exploring right away after i got it. |
