Just got my Galaxy SII last week. rclxms.gif So far I'm very sastified with the performance. Also, I've spent the weekend playing with Android Market. These are the apps I've installed so far:

UTILITIES
Folder Organiser
This is the most vital apps I need because I moved across from Symbian (Yup, all the way from the Nokia 5800xm) I was horrified at the total lack of organisation of the Android Apps. This was my first install. It’s easy to use and gives you folders on the home screens.

BUSINESS
Jorte
I’m still playing with calendars but this is the current one I’m using. My favourite was Schedule St. but for some reason it could not get the date correct on Day-view and hence entering appointments was a nightmare.
Memo
A simple on-screen notetaker.

MUSIC
Amazon MP3
I also have a Galaxy Tab and although a bit basic, on the Tab this gives a louder volume than the built-in mp3 player.
Spotify
I’ve recently converted and can’t say enough nice things about Spotify.

Has anyone any other suggestions of must-have Apps?

many app requires rooting, especially utilities apps..

it's really not that hard if you read the instructions and setup the environment correctly.
mine was rooted the 2nd day i got the sgs2, all went smooth.. and i'm totally new to Android (though not new to phone firmware flashing.. ).

won't this cause void of warranty? and what if done wrong, will it damage the phone? scared later can't claim... sweat.gif

According to Samsung Policy, yes (enforcement, not sure). But you can unroot it unless you phone has a broken display or cannot switch on.

Basically is the same as Jailbreak on iPhone. You won't go wrong with ODIN and Superoneclick which is just 1 click away.
Rooting will definitely void your warranty and in download mode you can see your count of using custom kernel. By reseting it you'll need a "jig", can be purchase in ebay or search youtube on how to make it.  biggrin.gif

This is normal nothing to be worried about. All my other androids same.
Idle temperature 28 to 30 degrees centigrade.  On 3g surfing 32 to 38 depending on how strong 3g signals. 3g thether as wireless hotspot can even go up to 40. Gaming 35 to 45 is common
*
I see, there nothing to worry about right? I think.
I was worry cause it start to smell like burning rubber abit hmm.gif

If you smell burning than is serious. Actually even it temperatures goes up to 50 you feel warmness - no smell of burn. What is the  temperatures when you sense the smell

*
I remember it aroung 45 to 50? The smell came from around the speaker area, this is usually when I played game.
