Hi guys, I'm a beginner at badminton but improving on my timing and power. I have the Apacs Edgeslayer Z BG65@24/25 and Slayer 380 BG65@22/23 which are both beginner rackets. However I tried with my friend's Yonex NS 8000 with BG80@25/26 with a thick grip and I've never hit the cock with such accuracy and power before. It feels alot better and have more control.
Is this due to the racket and string type/tension? Should I invest in a better racket?

QUOTE(faidz85 @ Jun 13 2011, 10:28 AM) A lot of factors come into play when considering a racket. Better rackets comes with better technology, better materials and higher price. But ultimately, its how comfortable you are with the racket in your hand. I personally agree than you can perform better with better rackets, but the most important is choose the right racket with your style of play. You need to have a read on racket specifications and learn which best suits your level and style of play. And yes, I think you should get a better racket if you think you've outdone your current rackets. Cheers dude. Which is your opinion is a better racket? Victor BS09, Apacs Tantrum 200 or VH2000?

QUOTE(ben3003 @ Jun 13 2011, 09:48 PM) i think bs09 is a good racket for beginner and it is a good racket for advanced player also because even LYD is still using it, no wrong getting bs09, it is really a good racket. It is a fast racket, good for doubles. But if u think u got enough power and of coz money to burn, u can get ns9900, it is a real good racket, fast and powerful due to the stiff and head light, where u can swing it hell lot faster, and it is very good for doing repeating smash, especially when in attacking stance for doubles. NS8000 is a head light and stiff racket, i suppose. Apacs tantrum 200 i never try before, so no comment on it, but it has received good reviews, but most of the people say it need fairly good skills to really enjoy the racket, even for ns9900 also, u need more wrist power, rather than arms strength to use the racket. I guess u can try something less stiff. Even now i am using ns9900, i would love to get something like bs09 or bs12, which is less stiff yet fast. I cant enjoy Spira 22, i dont know why, i have better feel when i hold ns9900 in my hand. I would try mx80 or bs12. BS12 is upgrade for bs09 as what ppl are saying, and i saw from badminton central, JJS changed to bs12 during the thailand open, i did not see it myself so i cant confirm with it. Thanks. I've tried my friend's NS9900 too. Yes it's a very nice feeling racket. But he's using VT80 now. Anyway, I'm in the same dilemma as you. BS09 or BS12.

QUOTE(ben3003 @ Jun 16 2011, 05:10 PM) Ya i already saw those pictures, but dont have Sunrise sticker on the control cap. U know what is Sunrise sticker? I dont know maybe the buyer tear off the sticker or wat lolz.. altho the racket does seems legit lar.. but fake one now can make 95% near to original ( bro arc told me one) +1. It's hard for everyday people to differentiate between original and fakes. Only people who comes in contact with the products are capable of telling it. But if it's backed up by whole lots of people who have bought from that store before, it's a safer bet. And it's in old town, 15mins from my place.

BS09 at Rm300 at Modern Sports in Old Town, PJ? Wow, that's the cheapest I've seen anywhere. You wanna be the guinea pig and buy and confirm if it's original? Hehe

QUOTE(ben3003 @ Jun 18 2011, 07:13 PM) artery tec too stiff and heavy, i don like head heavy racket haha... altho i never try one before, but i am too pampered by ns9900 speed Just got bs11 in the end because the modern sports boss got bs09 left only, then when i ask him how about bs11, then he say bs11 is way better in every aspects, alot of ppl bought it, even when he know he cant sell me bs11 he also intro me bs11 more than bs09, i knew bs11 should be a better racket. Bs11 felt lighter than bs09 IMO.. So you bought BS11 with what string and how much? I thought BS09 is the lightest of the BS series? Sorry. Does he stock BS12? QUOTE(ben3003 @ Jun 22 2011, 12:40 AM) modern sports at pj old town wet market But buy at ur own risk, i am not convinced the shop sell EVERYTHING original, but since then his business is good and he got good price, i only asked him to show me bs09 and bs11, the bs09 is CN coded with no Far East sticker, but if he got it from China himself and sell it, it is reasonable that it wont have Far East sticker. The bs11 looks legit tho. But kinda lots of positive feedback so its up to u all to check it thoroughly before buying, the price he offered is resistable tho, rm400 for bs11 No shit? That's why it's the cheapest BS09 in the country. Wonder if he gonna restock new stock? edit: What did you see that you suspect is not original in his shop? Is there such a thing as head heavy and flex? I've seen too many comments about Tantrum 200 is too stiff but otherwise an excellent racket.
Victor BS09 is head light and flex. I'm considering weaving a more powerful racket, maybe like Ben's BS11?

Yes I know. Too many rackets to choose from. Spoilt choices for consumers like us. I've tried BG80 at 25/26 NS8000 and NS9900, superb nice feeling and control.

I think David doesn't stock many too. Any idea if he's got hold of BS09 yet? I was back for 4 weeks in July/Aug and he still didn't get new stock till the day I left.

QUOTE(fat_lip2525 @ Aug 30 2011, 12:28 AM) Not too sure, didn't ask him for that model.. He does have bs12 for rm400 though, if I'm not mistaken about the price Yeah that price was listed in this thread back in May/June. He offered RM380 without the bag + any string you like. The BS09 he had was not in a tip top condition, the label is abit off, RM280 + string. Or RM300 with the bag. Still regret didn't get the BS12 back then.
