I believe most of us are aware of the advantages of the iPad models. However, the tablet market is still a very young and growing line of post-pc devices.

We all have been more or less familiar with pc and laptops, netbooks are still more or less just baby laptops. We all have some idea what we want out of a mobile computing device, and therefore there are some expectations that we tend to have with a tablet device.

The problem happens when we want to try to replace the laptop with our ipad in terms of our day to day mobile computing usage. Some of us ran into some unexpected issues with the ipad when we assumed the ipad should be able to do certain things, like for example, some guy just realized that a core function of spreadsheet programs just isn't yet available on the ipad like the pivot table and sort functions. Numbers doesn't do it, so doesn't docs to go.

I want this thread to help us discover and be better informed on the limitations of the ipad. please share issues that seem like the ipad SHOULD be able to do, but currently does not. And if you do happen to know there is a workaround to the problem, or there is a solution already available, you can share it here too.

Here's some that I found :

-cannot perform sort and filtering for all known spreadsheet programs, numbers, docs to go, even pivot tables.

- bluetooth file transfer does not work with phones or laptop, even ifiles only allows bluetooth file tranfer with other ios devices running ifiles ONLY

-more later

Toogles on springboard to access certain setting without ease of clicking into the Setting Menu like SBSettings. A Wifi selector where we can choose different AP is another point if it's a toogle as well.

Well true you can't do it directly, but http://store.apple.com/my/product/MC531ZM/A

One more which is quite annoying for me :

-not all javascript websites are supported. Java applets does NOT work. Javascript embedded sites, yes. Applets, no.
Any jailbreak apps (that we can purchase or free) that does this?

That is, if you're using pc. But from ipad to iphone or the other way, using the built in browser and opening the iphone's port 8080 website I always get failed transfer. Goodreader can. Not ifiles. Bug! sad.gif

Running windows on ipad, that might take some jailbreak trick. It sounds like it can be implemented in the future but then again with no usb...

But if you're considering to sell and get a windows 7 tablet instead,

Be my guest.

There are things that all apple product can't use eg flash so just judge from this point of view

Furthermore this is so thin and simple, if they included too much things then it might turn out to be nothing more than a regular MacBook.

That's my point of view.

Opn a tablet I expect those documents, spreadsheet to be some sort of lite version to allow some small editing. At the end of the day, you still need a pc for iTunes syncing.

I love my iPad. But apart from all of the aforementioned issues the one thing that really bugs me is that I can't edit and organize my photo albums from the iPad itself. So annoying!! >:O

No worries guys...keep on buying Apple and soon all developer will create application for this.

You are not the only one facing these problem ya!

As for the Java and Flash, now market are moving to HTML5 or Adobe is supporting Apple in the list, u just have to give those genius some time ya.

Don't let the Gates monopolize the market.

Documents: There are some Office/Doc apps which is good out there if anyone encountered before a good one dont mind recommend.

PhotoEdit: There are quite alot of this apps but personally i'm not into it so u got to search in Appstore, i know its not free but u can try JB yur set and try the free one before u purchase it.

Stock Trading: More and more stock website will support this, they are on the way of converting or supporting viewing in a much simple and faster way from any smart devices just bear with them ya! :0

The closest app that supports good words and excel is quickoffice HD. Which by no coincidence is the highest downloaded office suite compared to the rest, including numbers and pages.

Take note that numbers CANNOT save as excel format, only PDF and numbers format. So no matter how good the app is if it doesnt play nice with MS office you can forget about getting it.
