where do you get the driver? because i am using 270.61 as well, but doesnt work.
hon crashes upon startup
*
Maybe you should reinstall your 270.61 driver. Or redownload HoN. Cause HoN has a lot of new patches

QUOTE(thieflord @ May 17 2011, 06:02 PM)
use intel hd to play hon
*
I don't think Intel HD can support HoN...it shows HoN icon in my Nvidia GPU activity

Intel HD maybe can support up to 800x600?

LOL. I tried it. I run it on 1366x768. Still smooth without lag. I'm using the Intel HD. If i enable shadows, lags a lot.

Hmmm...just wanna ask something,

how big is the difference between GT520M, GT540M and GT555M

lets use Call of Duty Black Ops for benchmark

GT520M = Runs at 40FPS

GT540M = Runs at 45FPS

GT555M = Runs at 70FPS

is it? just wanna check out the Nvidia G series cards. Thanks for any reply on this. biggrin.gif

gt 520m 15fps

gt 540m 30fps

gt 555m 40fps

Alright, thanks for this. But actually, Black Ops can run smooth if we disable some of the graphic settings like shadows

QUOTE(Tsukiyomi001 @ May 18 2011, 01:44 AM)
according to notebookcheck.net benchmarks...
let 520m = 100%,
then 540m = 130%~140%
and 555m = 170%~180%
*
Thanks..so basically

GT 520M = 100%
GT 525M = 120%
GT 540M = 140%
GT 550M = 160%
GT 555M = 180%

QUOTE(thieflord @ May 18 2011, 01:57 AM)
gt 520m has half the number of sps that gt 525m has
*
No wonder my friend who owns an Acer Aspire 4750G with core i5 and GT520M has hard time playing new games like Hot Pursuit and Assassin's Creed

on the other hand, my other friend has a Dell XPS15 with core i7 and GT435M, he can run games better than acer 4750G

so.......GT435M > GT520M

or do the Intel processors help in running games also?

QUOTE(ngkhanmein @ May 18 2011, 10:41 AM)
wanna update to newest version.. if dl at steam no need crack? wanna get less bug..

Added on May 18, 2011, 10:42 am
dl from steam w/o crack it works??
*
Actually, there's a big difference between Steam games and downloaded games. Steam games are Original games which you have to buy from the website, the games no need to have cracks and you can play multiplayer on it. Downloaded games from pirated websites need cracks and cannot play multiplayer...

Like me, I bought the Call of Duty Black Ops for RM160 from Steam. I can play multiplayer. And Steam automatically helps to update my game, so that all the lag issues can be solved.

Before this, I tried the pirated version of Black Ops on my laptop, it runs quite laggy. I bought the original, now it is really smooth...

so, buy original if you have the money...

Its hard to check the version of a game. It depends on the last update that you installed on the game...

QUOTE(lee_what2004 @ May 18 2011, 12:10 PM)
@wilsonphua, GT540M is slightly overclocked GT435M..
*
so, GT435M is on par with GT520M or is GT435M better than GT520M?

Kinda confused with the way Nvidia names its graphic cards..

so, the naming of Nvidia card is like ATi where we look at the second number?

example, HD 5850M is better than HD 6770M

Technically we take the GT540M as the point of reference since everyone is familiar with the performance. A rough but more accurate comparison based on Vantage GPU scores.

GT520M = 40-45%
GT525M = 80-90%
GT540M = 100%
GT550M = 110%
GT555M 144 SP GDDR3 = 170%

I got my Black Ops on Steam as well, when they were having 25% off! laugh.gif
Steam sales are awesome.
*
no wonder GT555M is used in gaming laptops like alienware m14x..

i bought the Black Ops retail box LOL

i didnt know steam has sale for it

and yeah, what's the diff between 128 bit and 192bit? like what @thiefloard asked...hehe

hi everyone that use GT540m... i think i already adressed this thing b4...about acer 5750G ..its my friend lptop...he always got freeze when playing game, continuosly...  fps recorded using fraps drop to 0, then up again, then 0 again... The game that freeze when he play are GTA4, modernwarfare2, splinter cell conviction, n many... =.=

anyone ever experience this thing???
this is example of splinter cell convicition recorded...

https://www.facebook.com/#!/video/video...217155531633468

freeze, but sound still goes on...later back to normal..then freeze again..continuously.

Added on May 19, 2011, 12:44 pmreally annoying..yea..we are gamers...so its trully annoying.

Your friend's Acer Aspire 5750G is what colour? Blue or Black? First batch or second batch?

First batch is black in colour. It has a lot of problems, faulty laptops. With GT540M 1GB, no bluetooth, EOL-ed. (can change motherboard, full refund, change to second batch....by middle of April)

Second batch is blue in colour. No problem so far. Except just now, when I was replying to this post, my laptop got freezed and I had to press the start up button to restart....so fcking dangerous! Just found out that the Adobe reader updates are making the freeze, disabled it!

so, back to topic. If your friend's laptop is blue in colour, second batch....then try these methods. I played Modern Warfare 2 with my laptop at maximum settings with 60FPS. No freeze or lags at all.

Fix that might help to solve your friend's problem:

1. Update your Intel HD graphics http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect/

2. Download latest driver for Nvidia GT540M http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook-win7...hql-driver.html

3. Update your DirectX9 http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/deta...6a-9b6652cd92a3

4. If nothing of this work then rightclick on desktop and then go Nvidia control panel then Manage 3d settings then Program settings then click Add and find the Exe u run a game on, for an example GTA4.exe and go on preferred graphic processor and then click high performance Nvidia processor and Apply.

Got this solutions from youtube. wink.gif

Added on May 19, 2011, 1:30 pmwill that solutions work for 1st batch 5750G?
*
So, your friend changed the motherboard? If the solutions cannot work, better send it back to the shop and ask them to fix it, since it is still under warranty.

Your friend should have gotten a full refund or change to the new 5750G blue colour

but i'd like to know if my suggestions on the fix can help ur friend...

a little ask
this graphic will play the battlefield 3 in any chances?
im planning to buy a laptop with this graphic
thinking about 4830TG or N43SL
*
Hmm, very hard question there. I think we all can only play Battlefield 3 at 1024x768 resolution with the GT540M card.

Cause I have hard time playing Battlefield Bad Company 2.

I'm gonna build a gaming desktop by the end of this year just for playing Battlefield 3. biggrin.gif smile.gif

looks like this card is doing good !

anyone can play dota with this GPU on battery without any lag ? :S
*
I never play any games on battery...i always plug into the charger..and Dota wont lag, even the Intel HD can run it

QUOTE(DWExia @ May 22 2011, 10:49 AM)
hey guys. I have a question regarding the GT540 gfx card.

Im gonna get a laptop soon and I see most of the newer models all come with 1GB 540m gfx card.

I wna ask whats the difference between a 1GB and 2 GB graphics card?

Also i wna ask hows the performance for this gfx card on Starcraft2?

Thank you.
*
There is no difference between 1GB and 2GB graphics card. The Nvidia GT540M is a mid-range graphic card and it won't utilize the 2GB memory fully. It is just a "trick" made by company to scam you all.

Performance of GT540M on StarCraft 2:

Ultra = 30FPS
Medium = 60FPS
Lowest = 100FPS

smooth is 60 fps..

Core i7 is just to help you prepare for future games, and it is more powerful thats it.

why play starcraft 2? Killzone 3 is a lot better!

Lol killzone 3 is good but its on the PS3. I game 99% on the PS3 just that the 1 % is starcraft 2, plus my computer kong already.

Im actually online now using my PSP -.-
So would u guys recommend the Asus N53 series.

i5, 4GB ram, 1gb 540 and 640gb hdd, 15.6 inch LED ?
*
If you prefer Asus brand laptops, you can either choose between:

N53Sv, i5-2410M + Nvidia GT540M(1GB)@RM2599

N53Sv, i7-2630QM + Nvidia GT540M(2GB) @RM3299

But it seems like the core i7 Asus is out of your budget. The core i5 would be the best choice for you.
