IMHO, reputable brands place an emphasis on their end product before it reaches the shelves to be sold to the consumer. I'm in the premium business and honestly it's easy to just go and print ANY logo on ANYTHING! and EVEN brands like SONY also order from me premiums and it's all about costs.
However, they do NOT order items which they are proud of to be sold to consumers or given free to their customers, i.e. items which they are specialised in. So if you see a rubber SONY mat well expect it as it is, a genuine gift from SONY but their speciality is not rubber, hence it's not their responsibilty. its just a gift, just like caps, shirts, etc.
As for some items i've seen here in the forum, such as a mini mouse with imprints of certain brands of them well, in my field I KNOW they're not the original ones or they could be it's just that i KNOW that the brand name can be put on the mouse and claim to be original.
In short just check out the packaging. reputable brands spend a lot on packaging to attract consumers.
Fake branded items well their emphasis is to try to be as close as possible to the original brand but they can cut their costs on materials used to make the item and most importantly their costs on packaging which they can drastically reduce.
So just keep a sharp eye on that.
