I have the classic iPad 64 3G. I have JB-ed it. The OS is still 4.2.1. Sometimes I find that the home button does not respond to my press!! The problem is that it only happens intermittently, and I find no reliable way to reproduce it.

There are already discussions online about it (http://apple-ipad-tablet-help.blogspot.com/2010/03/ipad-home-button-not-working-how-to-fix.html), so it seems that I am not alone. So just wondering, do you have it too? And if you encountered this, how do you solve it? Should I bring it back to Apple Store?

have u tried to press the button harder ?
my iPhone 4 got this kind of issue also.just need to press harder

yes, pressing harder will normally solve it, but surely, this is not normal right? I expect instantaneous reaction upon pressing the button.

you should bring it to apple store. i already send it to machines with same problem to my ipad.. if u got the warranty, they will cover it.. just send it to fix and wait with full of patient..

Well I guess its because wear and tear on the button. Its the most used button after all.

enabling multi touch gesture may be able to prolong the home button lifespan just my opinion..

just go to them and tell the truth even this problem is happen intermittently.. before this, my home button also occasionally didn't work.. but i just send it to repair because i afraid my home button do not work in future.
