Am I in correct thread?

I'm driving wira a/b 1.3 since 2001 until now, the front absorber is original stock and never changed before until today... biggrin.gif. Not sure what brand is the original stock. Recently I felt got sound when go over the hump and maybe
is time to change after 10 years!

I have read many thread about various brand absorber and quite confuse which is the best I should choose.
Some say Monroe Sensa-trax, APM, SACHS and many more...

Sifus, can you help and advise me what I need to know.

Should I buy it directly from Spare Parts shop which is more cheaper than go to Car workshop?

I need comfort ride only, no racing, no cornering but wanted to try lowered the car but scared will cause problem
later to drive shaft. Is it true?

Just go with any of them, cheap and comfortable, avoid adjustables, not suitable for Malaysia roads.

Lowered or not, it depends on your preference, lower will give slightly better stability and handling an better look but risk hitting the bottom of your car when going over bumps.

Just buy the parts from local spare part shops and bring them to your mech. Installation cost would be roughly RM 20-30 for installation for one side only (1 car = 4 side) excluding allignment/cambering for your tyres that you need to do because these settings MOST probably will run out.

monroe sensatrac ori from germany.. (but for OEM replacement only, not suitable use with lowered sport spring)
used it last time, served me well for 5 years, its better then stock, very comfortable yet had firm handling.. but the price a bit on high side, but u get what u pay..

How to check whether it's ori from germany? what about thailand made ones?

I have no idea why some people say sensatrac is stiffer than reflex, which isn't true.

Make it this way, if it is from Germany, how much you want it to be ?
More important is you get original absobers from each company..... Now in the market just have too much paper wrap chicken parts.... Using original packaging to pack fake stuffs....
I don't know but, for me I won't get service-able type..... Unless my absobers cost me rm2000 a pair.....
If the normal absobers can last for 60000km(cost rm230) while service-able we need to service every 20000km for price for service+price of the absober..... If just service only it won't cost much. But if the road condition are bad and need to change the seals, it will cost more.... You do the maths.... I'm dumb on this.... I just won't waste rmXXX just to save some money..... Absober spoilt, just change.....

hi, the spare parts shop sell me SACHS full set at RM 390. Is that price reasonable?
They also recommend to change the rear Spring to Waja Spring which more stable and will not hit over the hump.
For me, I just wonder if this Waja spring will make my car higher than original. Is it like that? If higher very ugly leh...

^Rm390 is quite cheap.... Front pair also cost me rm230 already...
Anyway, if nothing wrong with the spring, why you want to change it and make your car higher?

you say got sound. is it sound the tyre hit the inside of car? coz worn out stabiliser bar bushing will also make sound when go over hump, tie end rod also can make sound, tulang anjing (dunno what it called laugh.gif ) also can make sound.

what i'm saying is better check it properly, don't want after you change the abs but still got sound.

using Waja spring will make the gap at your tyre bigger. mine 1.6 running on 14" rim gap is 5 fingers. yours 1.3 i'll presume will be much more fingers. laugh.gif

im using kayaba absorbers for my dad's 14 yrs old wira.. feel comfort and nice but not lowered one.. it cost me about 400 for front and rear including workmanship.. but if u want to lower your car, you can change the stock springs to sports spring..

i used to go one under the tree mechanic in old klang road, next to pearl point.. very nice guy with best svc and cheap price.. been servicing the wira with him for 4 yrs..
