Wow, today I paid RM 50 GST to cancel my HLB card. What happen was I applied a card due to a friend needed to meet his target as well as to try my luck. I submitted the application on the first week of nov. so everything run as usual till it was "approved" on Nov 29 and no email/sms/letter from HLB to me. My agent has no idea of card status as no details of approval or rejection were email to him. I called HLB last week and their self help system said my IC does not have any application. So I talked to the CS to check and to cancel my application as I am lazy to wait. It has been 1 month. Today I receive a card collection reminder. Its not even a card approval or congratulation notice. Called up HLB for explanation and they said my first statement has already been sent out last week. So the CS advice to pay the GST and terminate my card to avoid late charges and interest. He also sent an email to the person/department in charge.
Thus, I paid RM 50 GST and canceled my card
What the hell is this >.<. The letter of reminder that I received was dated 17/12/2011 and the CL is pathetic.

Actually the RM50 GST payment is NOT to cancel the card. Since you applied for it, you ought to know that you be will charged RM50 GST sooner or later, unless you can prove that you have cancelled your application before hand. And since you have paid for it, you can actually keep the card for 1 year

Haha, well the problem is not the GST. its that I didn't know my card has been approved. Guess their mail system have problems or I am just being unlucky on applying all my cards.. even maybank will sms me and called me to let me know my card have been approved. I called HLB and they said my application does not exist and now they tell "hei your card has been with us for 1 month, come collect".

I think it's rather unfair to fully fault the bank whereas you had a role to play as well. You started the ball rolling ... anyone who read your story would have agreed with me. Yeah ... like the folks said. No need to help friend. Friend not going to help you pay the RM50 in this story.

They only read out what is displayed on their screen. Could be the card is approved and it does not appear only until recently or the previous CS you spoke to did not read their screen properly. Still ... friend or no friend, if you don't need the card then you shouldn't have applied. Then all this mess would not have even happened in the first place.

They are busy in migrating EON's customer info, credit cards etc. It is not surprise their database is not updated real-time for credit card application. Just stay with it

QUOTE(kelvintkw87 @ Jan 16 2012, 04:54 PM) Shiroi sounds quite well-informed, do you work in HLB? Nope of coz not working with them. Since HLB and EON merged, they will need certain period of time to do the data migration and it is not easy to do so and data migration for bank really take up months to do with their huge database.

Sept is 8 months away and I don't think if I were their customer I'll be that patient coz I'm not compensated in any way for my inconveniences which the bank creates for me. I think other banks card promos are anytime better than HLB.
