Hello,
I a bit confuse 'bout the cpu cooler (CM HYPER 212+) that i just install last 2 days. when i read many tech. online forums, it should reduce 'bout 7-10 degree Celsius... but mine only reduce down to 2 degrees Celsius.(From 40 degree to 38 degree on idle, when run Prime 95, its went up to 58 degrees and increasing but i stopped it before it fry my CPU) Below are my PC spec.

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3
CPU Cooler: CM HYPER 212+
RAM: Corsair gaming 4GB
Graphic card : Sapphire HD5650 pro
HDD: WD 640GB & WD 160GB
PSU: CM extreme 550W
Chassis: Thermaltake Dokker

Please help me regarding this issue because i have no idea what to do next.

1.Did you remove the plastic sticker on the heat pipe.
2.Did you use the thermal compound given or use a better one.
3.Did you use enough or too much thermal compound.
4.Did you clean the residue of the previous thermal compound.
5.Did you install your fan correctly.
6.Is your cpu cooler getting cool air and is there an exhaust fan for the hot air to escape the case.
7.Is the cpu cooler base secured properly?.

Because after I installed my 212 plus my idle temp from 45c is now 36c and during linx test at 100% cpu load max temp is only 65c before is 75-85c and only takes 2 minute to reach that temp but now can run 1hour also still 55-65c.
*
1. Yup, already removed it.
2. Use the given one.
3. From what i'm experienced before i think, i put enough thermal compound. (Is there any other methods to put the thermal compound for this CPU cooler ?)
4. Yup, clean it already.
5. I think so... after check it for few times.
6. my exhaust fan only at the back(arctic cooler F12 PWM pro). Intake air front (stock thermaltake fan come with chassis & side panel Cooler Master 120mm fan)
7. I think so... after check it for few times.

Now my temp run pretty high just for surfing the net is at 47 degree.

from stock heatsink to CM 212 and 2 degree drop - first thing that comes to mind is your casing airflow and ambient temperature.

if those are not good, don't even think about huge drop in operating temperature.
*
From what ur saying... i need to check ambient temperature first (coz its quite hot today).
So, I need to put more fans in side my chassis...??? I think i need to re-install my CPU cooler. Any suggestion for any good thermal compound....?? Coz need to buy one.

Actually there is ntg you can do except reinstall the cpu cooler since you are the one who nt satisfied with the temp . U using stock thermal paste ?
*
yup.... i'm using the one dat come together with the cooler....~

Whats your room temp?Maybe you put too much thermal compound....

I did put the thermal paste on the processor... not on the heatsink or heatpipe.... But now, need to buy the paste cleaner also new thermal paste.... coz I already misplaced the stock thermal paste..... aiyahhhh..... doh.gif

If you were my neighbour I sure give free my thermal paste that came with the 212+... biggrin.gif ...

If you are planning to get a thermal compound get a better one but don't need so expensive maybe Rm20-30 will do just see it's review and there is a few people in LYN selling it just make sure there are a genuine seller...

searching for thermal paste now..... MX-4 or Silver 5 which one is better....???~

I think its quite normal for room temperature w/out AC
Mine also around that while surfing the net~

Really.... that makes me feel better a bit.... but when playing games (eg. Dragon Age II), my temp goes up to 58 degrees (coz the limit temp for the processor is 62 degrees Celsius) ...... (By the way, today the weather are quite hot actually, even me getting an headache coz of the weather.) rclxub.gif

CPU has their own temperature sensor, which automatically shut down when it reach threshold~

nope. when you put too much thermal paste - all it happens is the paste will spread over the surface of the processor and soiling the sides.

the temperature still works the same since the paste still transfer heat to the heatsink.

anyway thermal paste wouldn't affect too much. again, if casing airflow is bad and room temperature is warm, even precision application of the best thermal paste wouldn't help.

understand that how cool your processor can be is all depending on dissipation. if the surrounding air is warm and lack airflow, the heatsink is just surrounded by warm air that cannot absorb heat from the fins.

warm / non-air cond room with quad core AMD - it's not surprising the temps are like that on load.

'bout the thermal paste.... dat a new info for me coz wat read from online before (most of it) putting too much of it can make the heat not transfer to the heatsink efficiently. But from ur saying it make sense.... the paste still doing its job even we put it too much or little....

For the room temperature.... i need to buy a thermometer first to measure the temperature of my room....
