Guys whats ur opinion on Edifier M3300SF?I plan to get a 2.1 system mainly for music, and also for movies and gaming, and maybe hooking up to my flat-screen TV as well..Is the sound very clear and the bass good enough?I don't really need bass that shakes the earth, but just enough bass because my living room which is where I'm going to put the speakers is not very big, about the size of a typical double-story house. My budget's around RM250,maybe can top-up a little.I've been looking around and Edifier seems like a good choice based on what I read around this subforum. But not much info I can find on the net about Edifier though. Are there any models/brand I can consider too? My main use for the speakers will be for music like mainstream pop music u hear on the radio. And also sometimes for gaming, and hooking it up to my 40'' flat-screen TV for movies.

shakehead.gif Your living room about the size of a typical double story house?? That's HUGE!
I'm using M3400 as my home TV speaker. Pretty nice. That's even at a lower price point. You should drop by a shop with demo unit to test them out else you'll never know whether they can satisfy you!
Btw, edifier can go real loud without "leaking". If you get what I mean. Even my M1335 can thump some bass to your heart if the volume is tuned all the way up up and up  laugh.gif

My double-story house is about 20x70..so the living room is not really HUGE compared to some bungalows la sweat.gif I think my living room is just average size and can be considered small.

You don't get me... Read twice and thrice perhaps you understand my joke. M3300SF is quite a highly recommended (for gaming...) set. But you can't expect it to perform like a hometheatre. In fact, you can't compare PC Speaker with hometheatre specially designed for living rooms. The way they sound is quite different since the area is larger than to be used as PC speaker where PC Speaker actually has Sweet spot, not to say hometheatre don't have but home theatre has less obvious difference. I don't know what I'm saying you can understand or not. haha...

I get u bro.U are saying that PC speakers can never be compared with a HT,because they are for diff purpose, and PC speakers usually sound nice when u are at a certain spot, but when u move away,it sounds less nice, whereas HT anywhere also can hear nicely..But I'm not asking for a Home Theatre specially for movies and Blu-Ray that cost RM1000++ and have tall speakers bro,I can't afford that yet..I'm asking for 2.1 multimedia speakers which are good and can hook up to the HDTV as well if I want to. My budget's about RM250,maybe can top-up a little..and I will mainly use it for music, usually mainstream pop music like those u hear on the radio, and sometimes for gaming as well, and maybe even connect to my HDTV for watching movies with. smile.gif

Anyone own an Edifier M3300SF here?Is it just me,or the speakers don't really sound that impressive, like what reviews on the internet say?Or this is what I get for the price I pay.Should I get a USB DAC,something like this USB DAC to improve the sound quality?Would there be a huge improvement?

What kind of sound you'll feel impressive? Because M3300 and M3300SF has different kind of sound signature, some like it some not like it.

Using USB DAC will improve details, also allow your speaker to run in by playing music for some period of time if it is new.

I don't know,I just don't find it a huge upgrade over my current 2.0 eight years old OEM speakers that came with my Acer PC long ago...

How would I know when the speaker is 'run in'?What exactly does this mean?I hear u guys say burn in quite a lot, what does it mean?

It's like a job. When you just started working, you need some time to familiarize and to get used to what you need to do. After some time, you're already used to it, you can perform better than when you first started.

Thumbs up for superb example?   thumbup.gif  thumbup.gif

I see,so it's more towards u getting used to the speakers, rather than letting the speaker parts burn in? Haha sorry for the noob questions,I'm new in this stuff.

And is it safe to connect the subwoofer and the router together?I mean I put the AC power cord of the Edifier M3300SF and the router plug together into one electrical outlet using a Power Strip. And also,I put my subwoofer underneath my table very near to my foot, and the satellites are very near my monitor screen. Is everything that I'm doing safe?

nope.. it's both ways... both the speaker getting loose/better and your ears adapting to the sound.

and it's okay to plug them together

Ok,how about putting the subwoofer under my computer table and very near to my leg? It's literally near my balls...and the satellites are very near the monitor..is it ok? And when I on the system, there will be a boom sound,is this even normal? Sorry for the noob questions, hope u guys can answer me..new in all these.

speakers won't die that easily XD
your body adapts to almost anything

the only thing is the harddrive shake that I'm worried only... and that won't break that easily

I'm not scared of the speakers spoiling,I'm more concerned of the subwoofer near my leg and balls,I can imagine all the soundwaves hitting my balls, lol is it alright? Have u guys ever thought whether bass can affect health?

Conclusion: Your way of thinking is really unique. Why I never thought that the subwoofer can kill my balls. Btw, My subwoofer is just...... around 0.6 metres in front of my balls right now. Just that mine is a M1335 and I don't really feel vibration in my balls when it goes all the way loud. I think I'm safe. You don't need to worry about your monitor getting magnetic effect for sure. Edifier does a really good job shielding all their drivers, not like L_g_tech *fanboyism*. Why don't you worry about the subwoofer may break your legs' bones? Or muscles? That would be quite fun. Oh yea, if you want some massage for your leg, put your leg on your subwoofer. Subwoofer+massage 2-in-1!~~~ The boom sound, I believe is because your bass is on. Try to turn the bass all the way down to 0, when you switch on, you hear nearly nothing *at least in both of my edifier speakers behave this way* The harddisk part... I think still ok gua. The vibration won't affect that much through air I believe.

Edit: I got no intention of making fun of it but just a little sarcasm here. icon_rolleyes.gif

Yea the way I think is unique haha,I'm just curious...this is the first time I'm using a subwoofer for PC. And if I put the bass at 0 and turn the system on,I hear a click instead, but I think it's better than hearing a boom smile.gif

If the thing concerned were correct, the people in the club are all gone  laugh.gif
Not to worry so much about the bass, the vibration are still way far from killing you. Only consider the loudness you're playing, it can might to hearing damage.

I don't really play it very loud,I scared it disturb my neighbours..and sometimes I don't feel like letting the neighbours know what I'm playing laugh.gif
