you can consider S330D if you hate C3
*
was considering that since i could benefit from the optical. however it has a 6.5inch sub and the main reason for my purchase is because i want a subwoofer.

C3 has a 8" brows.gif

that 6.5" subwoofer from S330D got more heart thumping bass than the 8" on C3
you are warned, in case of lack of bass you need a suitable soundcard
*
size matters when you want to achieve lower freq reproduction smile.gif
(basic concept of larger the driver, the more air it can push. so unless edifier's designs are flawed, size will matter)

if bass isnt thumping enough, just +bass level for increased SPL
atm im having +5 and i feel that its good enough.

as for sound card, im using HDMI from laptop -> samsung series 7 LED TV -> audio out to C3

No matter 360 390 or 410 it's still quite valued compared to other brands. You get nice solid thick awesome superb incredible MDF housing (including my RM109 M1335) for nearly entire series of Edifier. There are models that are not made of MDF though.
*
after having a lot more experience in ICE/Headphile, thats why i also made the jump from logitech/creative. proper 2 way tweeter/mids are definitely the right way for good quality sound reproduction. with the exception of the creative gigaworks T3, and potentially the logitech z5500/z906, everything else they have just doesnt quite match up with edifier especially in price vs performance smile.gif

Im currently headache with which speakers to get. I only have Corsair SP2500 and S530D on my mind now. Budget quite obvious d around 700-800 ringgitz. Pls suggestttt thanks
*
not to "pour water" in edifier thread, http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1850014 will point out the aego M or creative gigaworks T3, and ive heard the T3, and its really REALLY good. think of an aego M, with bass (aego m's bass is really sad LOL)

that said, between the 2 speakers in your mind, i would pick the S530D. optical support, wooden enclosure, proper 2 way speaker setup with proper tweeter/mids (the corsair version seems a little smaller tongue.gif) with amp separated from woofer.

How about T3 vs S530D? which one would u pick?
I really like the overall quality of the S530D though. T3's satellites if Im not mistaken dont have tweeters right.
*
its sorta how aego M are built.

if music wise, i would go T3
gaming/movies id go s530d

Its kind of a hard decision to make. But I do listen to music more. T3 kinda amazes me with the amount of bass it produces. However certain reviews wrote about the overwhelmed bass of the T3. And I wonder is that true? I like bass but I prefer quality over quantity. Another difference between T3 and S530D is the control panel. Basically T3 only has a volume control knob and thats all. Bass level meeds to be adjusted on the actual sub itself. That's my concern with T3. Mainly cuz I like how users are able to turn off the sub of the S530D to avoid disturbing others and all that. How about this, which speaker system produces clearer sound?
*
the T3 bass is very light to be honest. compared to most things the market can offer, i would even say the T3 bass is lackluster ^^;
best if you can audition the 2 speakers yourself, that would be much easier smile.gif

as for clarity alone, most reviews would point to the t3. i personally side with the T3. then again its an unfair comparison, as the T3 should be more expensive heh.

I dunno how you guys said T3 bass is light... I'd say it's definitely more powerful compared to all edifiers in terms of volume/bass ratio
the thump, the beat, it's just all clean, tight and powerfully deep.

the tiny satellites serves pretty well as a full range driver without sounding tiny like Bose C5

Clarity wise, I still wouldn't choose T3, same reason like Cosef... too harsh~ (yes I'm fussy with my preferred trebles)
the trebles does sometimes reminds me of cheap branded speakers. very fussy with soundcards paired.

personally I think T3 serves best as a general speaker for those who cannot decide their preferred choice
go for Edifier S530D, I'm using it now and it's pretty good sounding without giving me too much headaches in life

ohya, lets not go off topic, this is an Edifier thread wink.gif
*
well ive not heard of all of edifier's lineups, so i wouldnt know. however if you compare it to the more main streamed speakers, or even its own gigaworks brothers (THX certified lol) then yea, it is a lot weaker.

the harshness, could be due to the mid/highs mixed in a single driver. then again personally ive never had any harshness issues during my audition of it at singapore, though, i never really extensively auditioned it ^^;

though i would say T3 would be better for music, while S530D would be the better overall. just the ext. amp, better controls/presentation, well separated drivers for the highs/mids, and big ass subwoofer thats on a single box of its own (not shared with amps inside)
thats definitely much better on movie/gaming, hence the "general" choice.

at the end of the day, the car still by FAR out performs the Edifier C3 especially on those fast bass rhythms.
thats totally within expectation, when my subwoofer alone costs more than rm600 while the C3 whole set is just rm400 XD

all that said, the C3 performed quite decently with its bass, the volume is there, just the response and deepness is just not quite up to par (having the creative G500, and my car ICE as comparisons) at the end of the day it still reigns as one of the best price vs performance for the rm400 range

guys, what do you think of the C3? is it worth the price?

since it has a dedicated amp, i can use my own speakers too right?
*
i think its worth it for the price. im using it for my home TV now biggrin.gif

it looked decent, with lots of independant components... tested it earlier and the trebles were quite crisp, tho the bass still loses out to z623 biggrin.gif

looks easier to mod too, wires are totally replacable and drivers are easily removable  drool.gif
*
the bass is way more accurate than anything logitech could come up with smile.gif

that said, for home entertainment, C3 is a bit lacking, as the tweeters/mids couldnt reach far enough. then again, different application (those are meant for pc speakers anyways) and for RM400 over say, rm4k or more for an actual home entertainment system, one definitely cant complaint smile.gif

yeah cant complain since thats the price you pay

ive seen some mods done to the subwoofer that can increase the performance, by changing the cables and stuffing some cotton... might wanna try that... im definitely interested in changing the wires too for the satellites...

interested in the cables here
*
i would rather save the time/money/effort and just get better drivers and/or speaker sets tongue.gif

or better yet, get an actual home entertainment system (im planning for one anyways, just dont have the budget for now, and watching movies/anime without a subwoofer plain blow ass, hence me buying a C3 smile.gif )

haha which home system you're planning to get?

well since i mostly do my things via pc, and my room's not that big to begin with, getting a full home theater system is kind of an overkill

at best i'll be getting a decent 2.0 speaker setup
*
no idea atm, though when im doing it, it'll probably be quite "big" XD

at least bigger than anything i've owned currently lol

30 loud enough? from the pc shop it doesnt seem loud w

i increase my source to compensate, then i can freely adjust only the C3 amp volume without touching either tv or laptop (if im watching anime) volume controls smile.gif

SRS audio is crap... turn it off...

I almost threw my speakers away because of SRS audio... but then I learned that it's the SRS fault that makes things sound crappy

Added on November 9, 2011, 1:50 pm

then switch off via the back of the subwoofer if you're that worried smile.gif

as mentioned, they had removed it... they used to have a power off button. I miss that button sad.gif
*
problem is i dont use my C3 for music, i use it for movies (basically anime in general) and without SRS emulation its... lacking as hell.

aww man... that means you've chose the wrong companion sad.gif

try reducing the 3D effect(space level, room size,echo,etc...) if possible, cuz that's what cause all the sharp cracking sound

I think the definition level cause these problems too
*
i still believe i've chosen the right companion at the right price biggrin.gif
though at the end of the day, it is something temporary until i begin my home entertainment project.

as for the settings/effect, theres only SRS on or off, nothing else LOL!

Edifier C3's sound is more to Aego M instead of S730D right? Does the Aego M provide more bass than the C3? hmm.gif
*
i *HIGHLY* doubt. however i should stress that clarity wise, aego M will definitely win the C3 over.

judging by my previous experiences...
C3 had more noticeable bass but Aego M had louder ones.

C3 is still weak in bass but it is more noticeable in normal ears.
Aego M bass though stronger but the way it's designed the subwoofer blends in very well (you won't feel like there's a sudden subwoofer appearance when you play lol)
*
instead of solely the subwoofer's issue, i would attribute it to how C3's mid drivers are configured.
