you talk about margins like the customers care. as consumers, definitely we are just concerned about where to get the cheapest stuff.

of course, different people will define value differently, but if you compare MK2 AU ver with all the details and detachable/extra parts, and then you compare superman with just some extra hands and a stupid base that people can do without...and BOTH are in the same price range, to me that's overpriced.

to add insult to injury, they have this cheap PR stunt with the forced donation, and that kryptonite medallion for "VIPs" only.

like i said, people who think it's worth that much will still buy. for for the rest of us, we dont care about margins or whether shops can profit or not. we only care about the price, and superman (in my opinion), is not worth that price tag.

and i still dont understand why you go on and on about the seller's plight. do you think most (i said most, not all) consumers care? if a shop closes down, we move on the next. if malaysia becomes prohibitively expensive to buy, either we bite the bullet or we'll find a lubang somewhere else. this has always been the case. just like xl used to be the only place selling HT. if some guy posts on lowyat that they can sell HT at even RM10 cheaper, sure enough there will be ppl who will go to him instead of xl.

it's a fact that businesses have to compete to survive. for us consumers, we whine about the price cause we're the buyers who are forking out cash. sellers pulak wanna whine about what? :s

just like any other markets, when the speculators come, the market gets distorted. in the end, the real consumers suffer.
