because for that money you could get something better, a lot better
but then again if you're looking specifically for canalphones, there's not many choices

if you're happy with it, then good la, no reason not to be happy  icon_idea.gif

yep kind of restricted since i'm for canalphones for their sound isolation and size. but anyway what are the attractive bassy choices for something that isnt a canalphone then?

just wondering, why the heck are u so obsessed with bass?
once you start listening to those "less bassy" phones then you'll realise what's been missing

KSC-75 is the latest "best value" headphones, well they're clip-ons actually
they're not bass-shy either
*
hmm... the same way you guys are obsessed with high-quality sounds... lol.. i'm a basshead really (i set my mp3 player's bass boost the highest the earphones allow me to, but the master volume to around 60% only...hehe). Main music choices are house/trance, and the occasional rock/metal.

anyway, thanks for the recommendations..

Has anyone tried the Audio Technica ES5 before? Saw it for S$99, and was wondering if it was good to buy or not... or how about the Sennheiser PX100 since they're for the same price? unsure.gif

What do you guys think about the PX200?  I know that the PX100 sound better and have heard that the PX200 lack good bass, but I need something to replace my MDREX71 which are falling apart after regular use.  Looking for something lightweight and portable that will offer acceptable isolation, but I am not willing to venture into higher-end IEMs just yet.  Is PX200 the one? tongue.gif
*
lalala.. try the ATH ES5. Review for it seems pretty good as compared to the PX100, so thats what I got for myself... similarly the replacement for my old EX71 (resting in a corner of my room due to its shuchks sound quality now) as well.

how sure u are?
cuz pX200 oso soso to me only..
i wonder if px100 bass is much more stronger than px200..?

hmm, how about grado's?
i heard a lot of positive on SR 60..

You could consider the ATH - ES5 selling at SG for $99.
http://www6.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?p=1973640

Summary of review found at link above for the bass portion wink.gif :-

Bass (PX200)
What bass? Pretty severe bass roll-off. Bottom octave simply not there. Decent bass tonality however.

Bass (ES5)
Remarkably deeeeeeep bas response, the ES5 will play very low bass notes, with surprisingly good tonality compared to other phones in this survey (though that's the only place it gets decent tone). ES5 provides a BIG, punchy bass sound, with palpable texture and oomph. It's not proportional to the rest of the frequency spectrum, but for the most part, it manages not to intrude too heavily on the mids, these are not especially muddy or muddled phones. Bass mostly stays within its allotted space, but is much larger than it should be.

Check this out too... was just browsing around and saw this...

ATH - FC7
-Bass is the strongest point of the FC7. It extends low enough to hit most low-pass frequencies found in popular music genres, including bass rolls, bass kicks, and bass sweeps. There's a huge, larger-than-life weight to the entire low frequency range that gives it an almost subwoofer-like tonality. Bass just doesn't slam, it BOOMS, yet remains tight and controlled. It bangs, bops, and booms just like any subwoofer would, only without nearly as much power & authority of course. The bloom continues into the mid-bass as well to give it a truly HUGE impact that's simply just awesome to behold.

Not sure about the ES5, never tried it before
Dont think anyone here has either

Hard to think that it'll have more bass than the PX100 though
Quantity and boomy bass that is
*
I have the ES5. Was really considering between that and the PX100. In the end I chose the ES5 since the reviews seem that it is bassier, and there's good clarity and soundstage on it as well....

personally, I haven't tried the PX100 before so I wouldn't know, but currently the ES5 is almost like my Sony EX71 in terms of bass, just a little less boomier... but it really is quite deeeeep.

I believe the CK7 would be really suitable for a basshead but I got the ES5, since its portable to be brought together with my mp3 player here and there (and trust me, the ES5's volume can be cranked up very high. It sounds louder than my EX71 on the same volume settings.), it looks nice and is foldable, and its not too big to bring on my head in public.

LoL,
you've shook my decision again.
FC7 and ES5..?
I've read the review about ES5 and FC7.
it says that FC7 is very bassy, not juz slam and also boomy.
that's what attracted me.

So have anyone here own a FC7?
*
Haha... i know how you feel. Reading about the FC7, makes me wanna get them too... but it looks kinda big to bring around in public... so that's really too bad. Then, for self-listening at home for pure bliss moments, the audio quality looks like its gonna be a let-down.

QUOTE(KilJim @ Aug 1 2006, 10:08 PM)
Oh, in that case its probably like this :
PX100 - more quantity, boomy
ES5 - more quality, punchy and deep

Cause compared to the EX71, the px100 has more bass and is boomier
*
Hmm... i really didnt know the px100 was bassy. I also wouldnt say the ES5 has more quality. Its really hard to pass such a judgement on which is better.
