i need a headphones now.
wanna pair it up with my iriver. biggrin.gif

@aquanox, thanks for the suggestion.

actually how to determine whether a headphone is good or not? i did some scouting before and all the specs are more or less the same.  rclxub.gif
*
judging by the specs alone is not enough. sound is a very subjective matter. eg. the Senn HD595.. alot of people say its the best all around can...but i find them to be an absolute horror biggrin.gif

best way to know how good are the cans would be to test them out urself and see if u like it...if u do then good...if u dont.. find sumthin else biggrin.gif

but anyway, if u want circumaural headphones the 805 is a good recommendation... or u could get the HP2700. personally... really really like my HP250 biggrin.gif

hei guys!nid help here! icon_question.gif

1. i wanna buy a headset which can be use by both my nokia N91 handphone and M2300. is earphone or headphone a better choice?my budget is around RM100. so pls state the best headset u think at around RM100...

2. so many choices of headset out there!!philips, sennheiser, altec lansing, blaa blaa blaa...........how u all recommend?base on wat? rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif please explain...as i am newbie to headset...thx!

3. if buy headphone, i heard ppl say it drains the battery of handphone very fast.izzit true? sweat.gif

pls answer 1 by 1!!thx for ur help in advance!! rclxms.gif  biggrin.gif  smile.gif

1/ running unamped from a phone, id suggest sumthin with very low impedance so that the phones can drive the cans easily. my suggesttion to u would be to look for In-Ear-Monitors (IEMs). its the kind like the creative EP630..the one where u stick it in ur ear (some dude in head-fi called them ear dildos laugh.gif) IEMs typically have very low impedance (16ohms) making them very easy to drive.

anyway...for ur usage (which is using with phones) and ur budget, id recommend the Razer Pro Tones m100. ive never heard it..but it has been getting good reviews. or u could add RM30 to ur RM100 budget and get the Crossroad MylarOne from walabies.

2/ how we recommend?? its based on a few things...
- budget (most important)
- usage (gaming/music, portable/ not portable)
- do u need isolation? (closed/open headphones)
- if music, type of music u listen to
- wats ur source?
- wat amp? (if any)
- others that escape me at the moment

3/ not sure about this...but there is a logic behind it. headphones typically have higher impedance than IEMs making them harder to drive (n mebbe require more power to drive them properly). the lowest ive found would be 32ohms. and ive tried 32ohm headphones with my w810i. and although they sound alot better than then standard IEMs, i just cant get enough volume. even with the volume from the phone maxed out..its just not satisfying enough for me (but thats just me la...coz i usually listen to my music loud. might be different for u)

yeah...all the ones i mentioned for u are philips. and yeah cheaper than 805.

but do keep in mind that just because i like that phone...doesnt mean u will.

EDIT: forgot to mention that the HP250 are now labelled as HP2500

oo....

1. the razer pro m100 i have seen it on the internet and indeed, it really get good reviews!! rclxms.gif but how about other brand such as sennheiser MX series and CX series?i also heard many gud ratings  on these products... rclxub.gif but i cant find any review on Crossroad MylarOne...seem like nobody know about this product!! cry.gif
o!and u mentioned about OHM...is there a greaty difference between 16ohm and 32 ohm?

2. all points u mentioned i understand.except the isolation one....example: if it is isolated, when i am using the earphone, my mom shout me i cant hear...izzit like this?? rclxub.gif

3. so, u mean headphone is 100% nicer than IEM.even on handphone, headphone also 100% better than IEM. just that the volume of IEM is softer compare to headphone.if quality, headphone sure win.izzit like this?? but i saw review on razer pro m100 saying that the sound is very loud...

anymore ppl can gv me opinions and guides?pls help....the more the merrier!! rclxms.gif  tongue.gif cos i wil be going 2 lowyat this sunday 2 buy my nokia N91 and a headset for it! rclxm9.gif

1/ Crossroad MylarOne u can search here in the audiophile section for a review. theres a thread for it and a forumer did a review comparing it with Koss KSC75.
difference between 16 and 32ohms arent much...but its quite significant when i used it on my w810i. but thats me coz i like loud volumes.
i never mentioned any other brands because theyre quite above ur budget. but the senn IEM is quite popular.

2/ isolation...yeah...u wont hear outside...and u wont get sound coming in. it might not block out 100% but itll block out quite alot of sound oso from going in/ out.

3/ the other way round la dude.. IEM will be LOUDER as its easier to drive compared to headphone. headphones will be SOFTER. and i prefer the sound quality of headphones. some prefer IEMs. diff people diff taste

1.u said that 16 ohm and 32 ohms have difference.16ohm has louder volume compare to 32ohm?and is sound quality affected by the OHM of headset?

then i think when i go lowyat i have 2 listen 2 the heaset 1 by 1.... flex.gif by the way, where can i buy razor pro m100 at lowyat?

2. u prefer the sound quality of headphone but u also prefer the volume of IEM... sweat.gif i think its very hard for u 2 choose a suitable headset for urself!! sweat.gif haha....
*
1/ think of the impedance (ohms) as resistance.. the lower the resistance the easier to drive. hence louder volumes. m100 can be bought at either bulk section or ALL IT Digimall PJ for RM99...not sure if they have it in ALL IT LYP or not.

n some headphones do benefit from higher impedance while some do not. depends i guess.

2/ i never said i prefer volume of IEM tongue.gif its not hard for me to choose a suitable headphone for myself coz what i did was i bought myself a headphone amplifier (Little Dot Micro +) and use my headphones tongue.gif but then i rarely use my w810i for my audio. my portable audio would be my car sound system laugh.gif

as for suitable headphone for myself...i found my headphone liao... Beyerdynamic DT990 '05 flex.gif use it in the office as my main audio setup.

any nice headphone that i can get at the price at around rm50??
*
a little hard to find any nice headphones for that budget... but id suggest looking at the Philips HP250 (labelled as HP2500 now). its a lil more expensive (60 or 70) and it sounds good to me.

QUOTE(ben3003 @ Mar 8 2007, 11:27 AM)
is ksc75 better than razer m250? i don like canal earphone as i am very sensitive to pressure, when i plug canal earphone in, i can feel slightly pain in my ear like when i am on the airplane. Can recommend me some headphone around rm100? I wan to use it with psp. How about plantronics headphone? it has microphone that i can use for skype. So many choices.. arrgh..
*
yes...KSC75 is said to be the best clip on for the price. so that would be my recommendation.

as for phones with mic. never used any so cant recommend on that one

those who say m100 no bass....try shoving the IEMs deeper into ur ears...

ive never heard the m100 myself... but in the case of my w810i's ori IEMs, whenever i shove the IEMs deep into my ear, the bass really comes out. if wear like normal, aka just shove in like that only, the bass is practically non-existent

ATH - Audio Technica.

ATH is usually part of the model number for Audio Technica headphones.. eg. ATH-A900 etc etc.

Audio Technicas has a sound siganture that some people say is an acquired taste. not everyone can accept their sound signature. but as usual, sound is subjective...one man's fun is another's hell wink.gif
