QUOTE(one0202 @ May 23 2006, 09:26 PM) What kinda phones are u looking for?full-sized headphones, portable headphones, clip-ons, earphones, canalphones? If they must be canalphones, i guess u could try the Edifier H260 Clip-ons, get the KSC-75 Btw, isnt the CM7 quite a bit more than RM200? |

QUOTE(LittleGhost @ May 24 2006, 09:33 PM) Guys and Gals, hear me out. You have gotta try some other phones then After what i've been through, i've been thinking should i dump/sell off the Philips HP1000 and get either a neutral sounding AKG K701/Dark Sennheiser HD650 plus a good amp OR keep the HP1000 and get a set of gigaworks. I' actually looking for something that is neutral, flat, no-unneccessary colorization when paired with my EMU0404. This way i get a more comfortable listening. Apparently, the HP1000 is not comfortable enough for me because of the bright characteristics. However, i must say the wide soundstage the HP1000 offers is really astounding, and they sound really fine when i play country songs. what say you? The gigaworks + emu0404 combo is really appealing (according to a friend), and it's hard to decide between headphones OR speakers this way The HP1000 has a noticably worse seperation and soundstage compared to a HD595 And the HD595 isnt really great in soundstaging |

QUOTE(AlamakLor @ May 25 2006, 04:03 AM) I guess me and that person have different ears, lets just leave it at that But my testing was done only through a crappy Edifier amp, which is basically no amping But it should apply to LittleGhost anyways, since he's running unamped too Who knows, perhaps after a nice amp it'll be good to compare with a HDXX0 Btw, u guys need to learn to lighten up Where's the fun in being nice to everyone? |

QUOTE(LittleGhost @ May 25 2006, 01:24 PM) hmmmmmmmmmmmm I wouldnt know, never tried the K701i was expecting something else rather than comments on the HP1000. How is the AKG K701 compared to the HP1000? Dont really intend to either, doesnt seem to be something i'd like Problem here in the Audiophiles section, say something just a little not nice and ppl start going "guys, calm down!" Yeah the EX71 has a really short cable, but other than that i wouldnt really recommend it Settle for the other choices instead, a longer cable wont be that irritating once u get used to it |

QUOTE(Nine @ May 28 2006, 08:47 PM) One more question, how do you decide whether you go for earbuds/clip ons/supra aural/etc? Is it because of trend and fashion? Or are they all the same? Simply based on what you preferSome ppl want them small, so they dont look weird Some ppl dont mind looking like an alien, so they get some clip-ons (KSC-75 Some ppl dont mind lugging some weight around, so they get full sized headphones. Or rather they're using them at home, and comfort is a big issue Some ppl want noise isolation, perhaps they take the bus/train while listening, so they go for canalphones And some ppl like me with spectacles simply cannot stand behind-the-neck phones...I actually broke a pair out of frustration |

QUOTE(ellimist @ Jun 5 2006, 03:30 PM) Don't know if this is a lil off-topic,but I didn't want to create a new thread for a simple question. Yeah they doQuestion : Do they sell extra ear buds for those canalphones? You know,if u lose the buds of the size u like, anywhere to purchase them?In particular,I'm referrin to Sony canalphones. Try checking with Sony Wings or whatever the Sony shop is called But they're pretty expensive for rubber buds, if i recall correctly Might wanna just ask around if there are ppl not using the size that you're looking for and ask them to donate |

QUOTE(chanti-sama @ Jul 11 2006, 11:50 AM) If you're nice enough you may be able to get someone to help out Hehe, just be resourceful enough if you really want them If not just the the ER-6i la Had them before, pretty good other than the lacking bass and impact If bass is important to you just forget them. Probably forget the ER4 altogether |

QUOTE(LittleGhost @ Jul 13 2006, 08:55 AM) back again to spam? Wait a min, i'm getting irritated by his spamming too QUOTE Frankly, i never knew Altec Lansing makes good IEMs. I want to replace my KSC 75 with a nice IEM but i cant seem to find any good ones that beats the KSC 75 by a large margin. My priority now is to replace the KSC 75 with something that isnt a full sized headphone and do not require amping. Any suggestions?? The Altec Lansings are supposed to be by Etymotic actually, that's why they're good Initial rumors were that they're the exact same thing as the ER-4, but now its supposed to be a little inferior but pretty good Plus it has a "bass mode" or something that u can switch for added bass, suitable for the mainstream market i guess What kinda IEMs are u looking for? |

QUOTE(hyperyouth_firepower @ Jul 14 2006, 11:29 PM) Hello. There arent really any good headphones with a micI'm looking for a good headphones that come with a mic. if possible, i would like to keep the budget as low as RM100. What type of headphones should i go for? I listen alot to trance and orchestra, so sound quality is a must for me. Any recommendations? Perhaps u can get a proper non-mic headphone, and get a seperate cheap mic headphone for the mic alone QUOTE([Top-Gun] @ Jul 15 2006, 01:44 AM) U've just contradict yourself. You probably cant have sound canceling, but passive noise reduction will do as good a job or probably even better with the canalphonesNoise cancelling with high sound quality? from the lowest ranks, let me introduce e2c -> im716 -> UM1 -> er6i -> er6 -> er4 And your ranking is pretty screwed up man...why are all the Etymotics at the highest on the list? |

QUOTE(hyperyouth_firepower @ Jul 15 2006, 08:36 PM) oh alright Kil Jim. I'll get a seperate microphone then. The normal recommendations are :But for non mic versions for headphones, what kind of Headphones will you suggest? Of course, I can't fork out anything more than RM100. Slightly more is still okay, but not over RM150 unless its really that worth it. =S Philips HP805 - Full sized headphones Koss KSC-75 - Clip-ons, portables but worthy enough to be used at home Not too sure how they fare with each other since i only have the ksc-75 Nah, upping a little to RM150 wont help, no other choices Unless if you'll consider 2nd hand stuff, then u can get a HP-895/890 QUOTE(chanti-sama @ Jul 15 2006, 09:21 PM) i thought the im716 is better than er6/6i and nearly just as good as the ER4? Which is why i said his rankings are screwed up, dont bother about thatconfused confused. so meaning IEM i get thin music but noise cancelation? what about the sony ex81's? You get isolation, its not those active noise cancelation phones. No, you need to read Alamak's post again... He said you either get clear with little bass or bassy with rolled off highs Basically the opposite of each other's sound, not that all IEMs are the first option The Sonys should be of the bassy one, if its anything like the EX71 it'll be pretty muffled though, that's the main thing you might dislike Plus they dont isolate near as much as the Etymotics |

QUOTE(yeah_guyz @ Jul 19 2006, 04:00 AM) He's asking about the headphones not amp I've never tried the 555 or Aurilium too, so not much to comment on there QUOTE 1.how is the sound? in term of bass, clarity, comfort, weight? 2. how much it cost at retailed price? saw it is sold at 450 at davis website 3. do i need headphone amp to drive this headphone? is aurilium powerfull enough to drive this hp/ match this headphone? Generally the oppinions are : 1. Might be lacking in bass. Comfortable. Light-weight 2. Retail is more, so dont bother getting from other places if u can get them from him or mike 3. Yes it "powerful enough", of course just like all other headphones, they'll be better wih an amp. If u have the extra cash get a LDM or something, if not they'll be fine without an amp too |

Doh, tell la earlier
Try the Philips HP-895 for full sized cans or a Koss KSC-75 under RM100 for clip-ons There are no headphones that "need" an amp to power them What, no sound will come out without an amp? The difference is how much improvement an amp would make And all budget phones dont benefit much from amps, so you're safe at that budget |

QUOTE(AlamakLor @ Jul 20 2006, 12:32 AM) your friend is right to recommend u the brand, he should also have recommended you sennheiser, audio technica, grado, beyerdynamic, and etc...what's not right is that...you cannot get good headphones from these brands with your budget. Sometimes the technicallity doesnt hold, depending on the userpractically...you don't need an amp for a phone to make sound..but technically youa re required to amp it. then again, with your budget...what kind of amp can you get? a cmoy for RM80-100...left you about 100 or less for your phone...you're better off just get some phones that are not too dependable on an amp. empire enjoyed his HD650 unamped for quite some time yah |

Another "regardless of budget" question on recommendations...
It'll just be wasting our time listing the thousand USD phones when in the end you will ask for something cheaper Unless if you're just asking for the info for some research or something |

The PX100 wasnt exactly portable enough to be kept in the pocket IMO
It's about the size of a spectacles case Well, can be kept in the pocket if u dont mind it bulging out like that la Not that the PX100 is worst, just that it has a different kinda sound Trance addict? You might have done better with the PX100 instead |
