Hi guys

I just bought a 40UD5000 40" LCD TV from harvey norman today at ikano. I was extremely pleased with the picture quality for its price and took 1 unit home. BAck home i found out when i use my astro, DVD, Another satellite receiver as well as my PS3 in which all are using composite cable to be connected to it, It will always show up as No signal in the AV input source

This is so frustrating as i am hoping to enjoy my weekend with some big screen glory to only be saddled with making the damn thing work .Could any sifu please guide me. Thanks

which video source is connected to TV's composite video input?

I am sorry bro, i couldn't get what you meant . In my case all the appliance i tried to connect to the TV has been using composite cable direct to the TV

your samsung UA40D5000PR got these video inputs:
4x HDMI
1x composite video
1x component video

which video connection are you having problem? Did you connect from devices directly to TV or through AV receiver?

err... all using composite? none has hdmi or component?

composite is poor quality, yr ledtv can't give you good picture.

yr tv has only 1 composite input, how to plug all sources in?

TS might have mistaken the component input as composite input.

He can use HDMI to connect his PS3. If his DVDP has HDMI output, better to use it too. Else, component. The Astro on composite.

Buy a cheapo HDMI cable and connect your PS3 by using HDMI cable...
And as HT kaki said, if your DVD player has HDMI output, use that connection also...
For Astro, if you're using older version of decoder, use composite, while if you're using newer version of decoder (not byond), use component...

Err... have you done some research before you bought that LED TV... It has plenty of HDMI input.. and LED TV is HD Capable.. Full HD some more.. There's no point for u to still stick with that old composite sources....

If i'm not mistaken, if you bought Samsung LED TV, you will get free one year HD services for Astro Byond (Worth RM20 per month), did you take that promotion? It's a waste, you have a good TV set....

TS, u should use HDMI instead od the composite / component cable

I think this is human problem not LED TV problem.

Anyway jokes aside, just but few HDMI cables. If no money to buy good quality one, just buy normal one will do. It only cost you
RM30-RM35 per cable. Composite cable is for those living during the Flintstones era and haven't upgrade to HDMI era.
Why buy such a good LCD TV but still using low quality cables? Just a thought and hope this helps....

Hi bro, Just to update. Turns out the adapter given to me was faulty and i replaced it and viola, Got a full HD experience

By the way, i just bought a philip sound bar HTS and it dont have HDMI input . It only have 1 optical IN

So i was wondering of using a Optical out from the TV to HTS . So it will be like

Input
ASTRO ( Composite) | PS3 (HDMI ) to TV

Output (audio )
. TV to HTS via optical cable

That way i only need one optical cable. Will there be any signal degradation?

now..that 's real strange..the 799 Philip soundbar on sales in Ikano surely has got one HDMI input ! Are you sure you are being taken for a ride??

No bro,the model is HTS 5120. No HMDI input, only got HDMI output
