For my hospital(Damansara Specialist Hospital) I only need to prepare one set of my own going home clothings and one set of baby going home clothings(mittens, socks, shirt, hat and a swaddling cloth).

Re swaddling cloth, some Chinese believe that swaddling the baby with daddy's t shirt is good. Forgotten what's the reasoning but I did it ayway.

wrapped from hospital back home... continue wrapping for as long as my baby was swaddled. around 2 weeks. cuz my hubby's shirt all very big and comfy. we took old t shirts and wrap.

actually come to think of it, the logic behind was that father's shirt is big and used clothes are comfy.

All my 3 daughters was deliver at Pantai Hospital,so my experience only
from this hospital.

1) They will provide diapers for your baby(cos it under sponsor from diapers company)
2) They will feed your baby(with bottle)
or train your wife to breast feed right after birth(if your wife still have the stamina).
(**note: anyway they will still bottle feed your baby till discharge, who's can stand a crying baby)
3) They will call you in the delivery room once your wife is ready to give birth or you can just hang it there till the time come.
4) You are to wear the hospital sandal while in the delivery room.

For Baby
(at hospital)
- bring a set of new cloth(buy those that cover the toes as well, so u no need to bring socks.
- a towel/blanket to wrap the baby(they always feel cool smile.gif )
- Hand gloves(they like to scratch the face)
- Breast feed or bottle feed??
Breast feed -> make sure your wife is trained by the nurse of how to do it)
anyway to be safe - standby the milk powder.(some women may need a day or 2 before be able to 100% breast feed
and your baby have to be feed almost every one to one & half hours or less if be breast feed)
Bottle feed - then u need
-> Milk powder, milk bottle, hot(mobile thermal pot) and cool water(your baby may need to be feed in car during journey home)
- Diapers (newborn size please)
(** incase your hospital didn't provide any)

(at home)
- anti-rashes cream( i use DERMOPLEX CALAMINE CREAM, use sparingly when changing diapers)
- Baby powder(your choice, i prefer not to use)
- Baby shampoo/shower gel(bath time)
- Wet tissue( a must)(normally use to clean/wipe poo poo & urine stain)
- a thermal hot water pot in your room(i prefer none electric one).
(why in your room? unless you prefer goto kicthen every alternate hours for hot water)
- BPA free plastic water bottle to store water(to make milk)
- Milk powder for newborn.
If breast feed - consider getting a manual/electric breast milk pump, you can then store extracted
breast milk in fridge for later use.
- Diapers (newborn size 1 to 3 pack should be enough(they grow quite fast)
if breast feed, your baby will probably 'poo poo' after every meal,
so you need to use more diapers(it is waste to use expensive diapers in this case unless you are $$ loaded)
- baby handkerchief

For Mummy
(at hospital)
- Disposable Panties (few)
- maternity Pads
- Sweater/Jacket & long pants/robes(hospital room damn cold)
- Bra(**optional - Unfortunately there is no disposable one)or can just wear a few layer of cloth or hang a towel over cloth.
**Breast feed bra pad(breast feed or not, they may have some discard from the nipples).
- Slipper/Sandal to wear(hospital may provide, mine do)(if chinese, cos as not to incontact of with water or the floor directly.)
- Snack & drink(milo or fruit drink)

(at home)
- Disposable Panties (2 dozen or more)
- maternity Pads (a pack or more)
- Disposable Linen Pack(you don't want to stain your bed, right?)(can get/buy from hospital/pharmacy)
picture: http://www.duramedic.eu/Emergency_Medical_...e41/page41.html
- Hospital may give your wife a bottle yellow liquid of disinfect/clean the wound, i recommend get one or 2 more bottle of
those.
- Breast feed bra pad
- Slipper/Sandal(if chinese, cos as not to incontact with water or the floor directly.)

For father
(at hospital)
- you can take a nap at your wife bed, have the nurse wake you when your wife
ready to give birth, normally first time took a long time. So you can go in
hold her hand and scream together and ask the doctor to allow you cut the umbilical cord. smile.gif
(u may take video, but keep it private else your wife will s**** you.)
- No handphone talking & No flash please when taking your baby photo in the deliver room.
- credit card or cash (for deposit)
- ic/driver license
- newspaper/magazine(optional)
- your phone/camera
- prepare to face the other side of your wife.... those yelling/cursing....
(just hold her or she hold your hand, make sure she had trim her finger nail)

(at home)
- subjective. The is a price to pay for everything you get.....
