as you know, u can buy apple products via online from their malaysia online apple store. if you buy online, u are given an advantage of free engravement and free shipping. alltho u need to wait for about 1-2weeks you can engrave a personal message on your iPad for the same price! . so would u rather buy it from stores outside and get hold of your apple device instantly or wait 1-2weeks for the shipment.

I bought online... but having some doubts on what will happen if anything bad happens to the iPad 2 and need to claim warranty...

How to go about this???

if u choose engraving, they will open ur box right? if they open the box, how I know they didn't use open box item?

am still contemplating between purchasing the ipad2 online or not
the update from the net suggest that this is the best option so far...

Same thing you do when you buy from stores. Just take the product and take it to one of the apple resellers

Not really, depends on what you engrave. You don't put your name there lah, or your wife's name, or your girlfriend's name, or your dog's name...

i bought my ipad2 yesterday via online with my name engraved on it. i lost my ipod touch during cheng meng back at my home town, no idea who took it. i suspect my cousins from hometown la because they never touched an apple product b4 and they got addicted the first day i lend it to them. so in future if he say he bought an ipod touch i also cant point fingers at him because there is no proof its mine . ):

there's pros and cons.....online ones u can have personalised item to yourself.....

however, since the ipad2 are so prone for the bleeding issue, i reckon u buy from retailers on the safe side.....if the bleeding problem is ur main issue, u can at least ask them to exchange for u.... but if it's an engrave one, hahaha....... u gotta live with ur engraved and bleeding ipad...

Dont worry, i think the worker who do the engraving already bore on their jobs, they wont bother to play around.
if it just happen, then i suggest quickly go buy lottery...lol

I don't engrave so the resale price is higher.. people won't want to buy something that has words they don't like engraved permanently on what they want.

Engraving is for gift purpose mainly

I don't wanna engrave in case I need to resell it. Also another reason I ordered online is that our local Apple reseller don't have the unit for at least 2 weeks. X-(

I order on 29 Apr, so got delivery date set to 20th May (ships out on 16th).

I think the longer you wait to order, the further the ship/delivery date.

btw, why most of u all think of resale value . its not like a car , 40-50k ..its juz 1-3k ...pretty pathetic..duh.........

I've ordered on the 29th April. In my email it states delivery is on the 25th May. However if i checked in the Order Status, it has changed to 19th May.

I'm not a fan of Apple products. Never even brought anything from Apple until now with the iPad 2. But like I said, I would like to have the option of selling it in case the iPad 2 fails to fulfill my needs.

Maybe not, but it still can fetch for a pretty good price depending on the buyer & timing.

I choose not to and mainly due to potential resell, plus I don't see the point of engraving when I'm going to cover the entire unit with a full body case.

On the same day i got the email from apple.. I check the status online it also states 24th May, but it was updated and changed to 19th May on Friday afternoon.

I want another unit but im scared that when they engrave they will open the box and do something to the ipad.

i think even when they engrave, it is still wrap new lar....i believe buying with apple online is more trustable than buying through the retailer coz i heard rumours if rejected pad they wrap it all over again and give it to avoid shortage... ...i cant wait for mine on 25/05....

I tink the information in apple store may misleading. Based on my order,i assume,they need 2 weeks to prepare for the order...then they may take up to 2 weeks to ship, n up to 3 days to deliver the goods.so, average waiting should b at least 3 weeks of ur purchase date

I have no idea why as well.. but it still beat having to line up and being disappointed by ran out of stock, or not having the model you want. so decided i think i can wait for a few more weeks and get what i want.

Edit: Not to mention most if not all retail shops are charging 2% extra if you are paying by credit card.

i'm buying online also because i don't like the stunt of "NO STOCK" and "LINE UP TOMORROW MORNING"... they HAVE stock... they just want people to run...
