cant find a thread about screen protectors for the iPad so decided to create one.

The different type of screen protectors available in the market:
clear , matte( anti -glare ) (anti finger), mirror, privacy.

which type of screen protectors do u prefer? pros and cons

Clear : doesn't ruin the screen quality but finger prints all over

Matte: actually does ruin the screen quality abit but no finger print stains!( i've tried some cheap matte screen protectors and they really ruined the screen's clarity and minor finger print stains can still be found )
mirror: its nice and all to have a mirror but from what i experienced, mirror screen protectors are quite eye-hurting especially under sunlight. even indoors the vision isn't as perfect

privacy: some privacy screen protectors that are really really thick!! its good if u dont want people to see what u're doing tho. since iPad has a big screen. but it does effect the screen quality also but not that much. please note that ur screen wont be as bright as it used to be due to the thick and dark screen protector.

ps:- these are all based on my experience , different people might have different opinions

so which one do u prefer? iPad screen protector's are never cheap, even the china ones are about 60+ , is a RM200 screen protector worth it? are there any obvious difference between them?

heard about diamond screen protectors from gogo2, so

i bought the diamond sp for iphone 4 for a review. so far the best sp i've ever tried!!! its like the ultimate all in one super sp. it doesn't attract that much fingerprints, it doesn't glare that much under sunlight, and most of all, it doesn't ruin the screen's quality! and the sparkles are just a bonus to the whole package.

pictures!

the glare test, under direct sunlight , note that i've set my screen brightness to half.

fingerprint test, it does attract fingerprints but their not as visible as the clear and mirror sp.

clarity test, the best part of it. smile.gif  the sparkles doesn't effect the clarity at all!

pictures from gogo2, with diamond screen protector as well
QUOTE(gogo2 @ May 22 2011, 06:20 PM)
Hard to take photo of screen protector.

This photo I take does not justify the goodness of Diamond SP.

My review

1. same as iPhone version as above
2. Got very little finger print but the photo over exaggerating it
3. Cannot see the blink blink when turn on
4. No scratches
5. No rainbow

I wonder if the screen protector meant for iPad will fit in nicely to the iPad2. Still got 1 piece of ZAGG InvincibleSHIELD laying around. If it fits, all I have to do is punch a hole at the top for the camera before applying it.

but don you find it distracting ?

SP is based on own preference, actually after using clear, matte, diamond, i prefer clear the most, altho its finger print magnet....

clear show the screen colour the most, like not using SP, Matter anti finger print, but colour will dull a bit and SP easily scratch, diamond anti finger print, anti scratch, but will "blink blink twinkle twinkle little star" feel, i don like the most sweat.gif

Buy cheap screen protector is double the stupidity:
a) scratched easily and need to change more often
b) glue stick to screen

But bear in mind your cheap SP might have glue that tore away the layer coating of your screen. Someone said there's a layer of coating on the ipad. To avoid the problem, you might need to stick with the SP. You cannot change your SP liao.

Just bought matte screen protector by screen guard from lyn seller tabs. Price is RM48 but the good thing is the level of customer service. Very polite, install the screen protector carefully to ensure the sp is fitting perfectly and no bubbles at all. Highly recommended seller!

Im using an rm10 clear sp. Its surprisingly good lol. No rainbow crap or bubbles. Got it off a forumer in lyn. Clarity wise its prefect. But durability wise i guess i'll just have to wait and see :3

And as for the oleophobic coating on the screen. Well, if ur using a screen protector then u dont really need the coating in the first place. The purpose of the oleophobic coating is to make the screen more smudge resistant and easier to clean off.

Find good ones. U can actually see how good it is by putting it up to a light source. A lot of people seem to opt for matte. But i find these really affecting the image quality of the screen so i went for clear sp's both on my ipad2 n ip4. biggrin.gif need to wipe off the smudges every once and a while tho.

honestly, unless a "branded" SP is actually good,in the sense that, lets say,its anti glare, has really nice quality, and the pixelation isnt too bad, then its fine.i'll get one.other than that,i wouldnt spend a heck of doe on clear SPs.no matter how expensif they are.clear is clear.that's why i'll live wit the rainbow effect tongue.gif

and the olephobic coating, yea, cool and all, wipes off easily,i rather have a protected screen.and btw, does anyone notice,on the naked screen, with its oleophobic coating, its not that smooth to slide your fingers around?so yea.i dont like the feel of a naked screen.

I have tried most of the type of SC clear, matte, privacy, mirror or even naked.
At the end I still prefer the diamond SC I use in my iPad 1 and gonna to use it in my ipad 2 as well !
It doesn't sacrified the clear view and prevent dirt from my daughter's dirty hand.
It has better clear view than matte one and anti finger LIkE function same as matte as well may be due to the diamond visual effect.
About the "blink blink" I don't think it affect much on the screen, nearly not noticeable after iPad is turn on. And it looks cool when it is turn off !
I got it for RM50 only .......

If you tried the screen soon after unwrapping, you will feel how smooth it was. It said was, because it somehow never felt the same ever again. I think it's just that we maybe having an easier time removing smudges but do we really clean the screen as new? It may look new, but I don't think you clean all of the oily stuffs you hand left on the screen. Try using those disk washer gel and clean it. Feel the difference it made. I never tried on my iPad but tried on my HTC Legend before.

Anyone know if local stores stock full body (back + front) skins?
Like SGP's Incredible Shield or BodyGuardz's Full Body Protection?

Am looking for them in store before I resort to online, but so far have checked out 1U, Sunway, Tropicana City and they don't seem to have it...

You from Penang? I bought from Gurney Plaza.

Its not a shop. It is a trolley cart. That guy is selling using a cart type like hawker stall.

1st floor I think. Or 2nd floor.

no, front only.

THe reason DIamond Screen protector for iPhone 4 is front and back is because iPhone 4 got
glass at the back.

If cheap, the glue is not good. Means, it'll have left over on the iPad if you decided to take it out to change
to other screen protector.

Also, it might make you screen got rainbow color and blurred but I dun think it is that bad.

The other problem is its easily finger print and also easy to scratch. You need to change more often.

When applying also you'll get a lot of bubbles.

But someone use RM20 SP also good. So it depends on your luck.

I got mine from Machine @ pyramid. Getting the PS HD anti glare was my top priority. Was using it on my iPhone ever since, i really like its texture and feel.

Applied it on my iPad last weekend, and i'm quite disappointed ohmy.gif with the result. Some of the text gave a blurry look especially on black backround. Doesn't look sharp. To me it's quite noticeable on iPad compared to iPhone.

Ipad is quite easy to clean. Just blow off the particles from the surface. Then use a semi wet tissue to clean. I find that using a semi wet tissue wipe help wipe off the screen pretty easily compared to using a dry cloth. A light wiping touch and everything is clean n clear. Its the coating that helps the cleaning.

Are the iPads in the Apple authorized stores use a screen protection on it or not? If its not, I think apple has implied pretty nice native screen protection

And by the way, is it easy to install iPad screen protection yourself? biggrin.gif

Just saw a few tiny scratches on my PS Clear type SP , only been using it for around 1 week + . Hm... First time using clear type and quite disaapoint with the build quality. I am not a rough user and the surface is always protected by cover. Their AG type is better but screen does not looks so good.

I bought for RM48 from a fair price shop. So I know RM50 including installation is definitely a fair price.

RM119? Definitely overprice for such cheap screen protector.

Almost every matte S.P do. Just that they varies on how much print it holds.
I'd say PowerSupport & SGP brands is the best when it comes to these. Though, price can be expensive.

i bought the diamond sp for iphone 4 for a review. so far the best sp i've ever tried!!! its like the ultimate all in one super sp. it doesn't attract that much fingerprints, it doesn't glare that much under sunlight, and most of all, it doesn't ruin the screen's quality! and the sparkles are just a bonus to the whole package.

pictures!

Hard to take photo of screen protector.

This photo I take does not justify the goodness of Diamond SP.

My review

1. same as iPhone version as above
2. Got very little finger print but the photo over exaggerating it
3. Cannot see the blink blink when turn on
4. No scratches
5. No rainbow

I think besides matte one, all are sticky if your hand are sweaty type.

If your hand sweaty, use matte but it'll reduce clarity. But since iPad 2 also not Retina display, not really a problem.

I think besides matte one, all are sticky if your hand are sweaty type.

If your hand sweaty, use matte but it'll reduce clarity. But since iPad 2 also not Retina display, not really a problem.

The Invisibleshield feels more sticky and rubberish compared to most other clear type SP to be honest... the other time playing Infinity Blade it was damn hard to swipe LOL!

The ZAGG and bodyguardz are both not the typical screen protectors.
They are very thick and doesn't scratch easy.
Seems wrapsol is drop proof too.must be thicker>.<

diamond screen protector is thick also. That's why hard to scratch. Rm50 is worth it. Same quality like rm150 screen protector.

Hard to take photo of screen protector.

This photo I take does not justify the goodness of Diamond SP.

My review

1. same as iPhone version as above
2. Got very little finger print but the photo over exaggerating it
3. Cannot see the blink blink when turn on
4. No scratches
5. No rainbow

"from RM44 for Tablets", for Ipad 2 it is RM64.
I might bite the bullet and try this one since everyone said the gold dust effect is not that noticable.

from my experience the invisible shield by ZAGG sucked. applying it was hard, the texture was so yucky-liked. it was the feeling of a wet eraser. and it turned yellow after some time.

mine only rm15. as long as it can protect my ipad, i will be happy for it.
you can search for the market place, got tons of sp. price range from rm 10 to rm 100+.
depends on yr need get the one you like.

in my 2cent, some sp really overpriced (especially those sell in shops).
i don think is worth for the value.

My opinion some sp like sgp ultra optic and ps hd is worth their heavy price tag... For example i used to buy sp ranging rm30-rm70 and they keep on scratch, the clarity is not so good.. Fingerprint everywhere... If you use small screen device it's not to hasle to clean it... But for something that have big screen like ipad you do want something that really do theyre job.... My son always scratch the sp in1-2week after i buy... But after switching to ps hd i dun have to worry about it and th sp are easy to clean... You know kid finger always not clean... Choclate and stuff... And from the some review i heard same goes to sgp ultra optic.... And also the smoothness of the sp surface also u must consider.... For budget user diamond sp is a nice sp for rm50.... You can see other review in this thread ... Keep on reading it from the1st page....

I just got my self an ipad2full body screen protector from ebay. 3 sets (front/back)for USD 9.90 free shipping form HK... It is a normal clear type screen protector. I use to purchase screen protector from there for my i4.. very cheap. For i4, full body 10 sets only RM 18, free shipping. Usually it took only 10 working day to arrive. So, you guys can actually source from there

SGP ultra optic feature that i found after using for 1 week.

1. no finger print after using so long
2. Clarity is very clear
3. no cleaning needed for the screen.
4. smoonthness is perfect like ipad without sp which is damn good.

the only bad thing about sgp ultra optic is it price that are so high and most not willing to spend on it but for me i am more than willing to spend it since is the best sp for ipad 2.

thanks, Squall_12. i was reading up on the UO, but was getting conflicting reports, some say matte screen, some say not matte, some say matte but clear (???), weird stuff.

the only thing i'm wary of is if it's matte, how matte it is, and will it detract from the screen clarity, hence the questions i was asking about earlier on.

from my experience with sgp ultra optics there is no clarity issue. so to me this is one of the best sp for ipad 2 but comes with a price.

Well, price is one thing but I do see some decent one but may have a little cons to it going for RM60-80 as well. Let's say if you really don't like it and can't stand having it on your iPad, you are very likely to replace it and that is already an added cost. So might as well go with the one of the best (if not the best) and stick with it for a long time. biggrin.gif

Hi guys. I'm willing to spend up to rm 200 for a screen protector for ipad2.

So far from what i've read here, these three are among my choices. Which one should i choose?

1)SGP ultra optics
2)Capdase SP
3)Diamond SP

please enlighten me. But i think SGP ultra optics is the best right? just its a little more pricey. Where can i get SGP ultra optics(from a store i need someone to apply it for me as well)

from those 3 SPs, UO takes the other 2 and crushes them.. really.
if you wanna compare, maybe with Power Support's SPs, but now with the UO, its both clear AND anti finger print. what more to ask for? icon_rolleyes.gif

*using it on iphone 4. so sorry la.hardcore supporter nod.gif

I've just found a super high quality cap ayam sp. It's just like the powersupport antiglare type. Very smooth and clear but at the same time antiglare and anitifingerprint.
Here's some pics I snap after applying and using the sp for a few days.

A week back , I applied the SGP ultra optics. After several attempts managed to get it properly aligned and bubble less. However next morning , saw lotsa bubbles. I then tried sweeping the bubbles to the side , no luck. Took out the protector and apply again, no luck.

How do i clear off the bubbles ..

Use skins. You can get from Hydraskins. Or you can custom make one too..

here's a sample.

For members who interested with OLEOPHOBIC Screen Protector, we strongly recommend IMOS OPC Series SP.

I got one SP that I bought along with my iPad 3. Almost 2 years, still looks like new.

No idea what brand tho. It's matte one. Costs around RM123 from Machines.
