Hi,

Can someone recommend me a cheap + reliable brand of diapers (More absorbant)? I have a 3 month old baby and all along I have been using "Hey Baby" brand.

However, now I feel that he wets himself more, so I cannot keep him in 1 diaper throughout the night (and I do not want to break his sleep during the night just to change his diaper).

I heard "Baby LIke" brand iis good? Anyone having experience, please advice. I'm scared that my baby might get rashes...

Thanks

i think the best and cheap diapers is drypers, my daughter use drypers too, no problem, and i'm the kinda mother who always forgot to changer her diaper. doh.gif she's still ok with that, lol. there's one time we changed to some a new diapers, because there's no drypers here, in karachi, sweat.gif and her diaper stock is out, it was a bad idea. her skin got this really bad rashes, thank goodness after we got our stock of drypers, her rashes gone. thumbup.gif

I was just about to suggest the same thing biggrin.gif. Already picked out which cute cute CUTE colors and designs my boy will be sporting when he makes his appearance.

The amount of money you save as a CD mommy is crazy (did a quick calculation about it to prove to my husband that it was an economical thing to do not just me wanting something cute for baby blush.gif ).

Hi,

Thanks a lot for the advice. But I cannot use cloth diapers cos I give my baby to the babysitter lah... So no choice, have to buy disposable diaper.

Any 1 using Pureen Diaper for your babies?

Thanks

i have buy/try different brand of diapers for my 3 daughter aged 11months, 3 & 4 years old. Currently
settle with the brand "Pet Pet" for day & night use. Price is between RM31 to RM34++ per pack since i always stock alot when Carrefour, tesco & Giant having promotion on it(normal price is like RM37-RM44++).
Prior to using Pet Pet diapers, my daughter was using Huggies Comfort(red) but it lose out in terms of price and
absorbency.

They normally wear a fresh one from =>9++pm till 8am in the morning, leakage happen like 10% of the time.
However a pack of mamy poko will be on standby in case one of them drink a lot of water/milk prior to sleep on a particular night, mamy poko will be the choice.

(Note: The Diapex brand diapers is also quite good but the only Con i dislike is they still using those Hard plastic type
sealing tapes on the diapers.

I recommend Drypers if you are looking for value for money but a good thing to try is to use Drypers for the daytime, and Mamy Poko (which is more expensive) at night. Because you change less at night, and Mamy Poko is more absorbant I would use this 2 brand strategy to keep the costs minimal. Hope this helps! Oh and you can buy from www.babydash.com.my and have them delivered to you. Orders above rm149 is with free delivery.

Before i gave birth..i very gangho use cloth diapers so i bought demm alot....but when my baby comes out, walau, he shit like 10times a day initially and now like 3 times a day @@ I have no strength to wash the shit so many times a day so i gave up.
i just use the outer layer of the cloth diaper so i can use cheaper brand dispo diapers and still no leak becoz of the extra protection layer of the cloth diaper biggrin.gif

I using Petpet/huggies/heybaby/drypers/pureen/mamypoko....depends on which is on sales. i love petpet the best.

daytime Pet Pet, night time - Huggies(Purple color)

I use CD in between during day time when i take care of my baby. Previously i use CD all day during day time but i found that my boy won't sleep for long during day time when his CD is wet. So i have to use the disposable one when he wants to sleep during daytime. The brand i bought is Coolababy & MommyLoveU BabyAngel AIO, both also can't hold much, may be my boy pee a lot. Coolababy one sometimes will leak also.

May be other mums can suggest a better brand for me.

I think you should change ur babys diapers more than once through the night. U wont really break his sleep unless ur too rough or he doesnt want to sleep. If u keep ur baby in the same wet diaper throughout the night, he'll get rashes and wake up more cuz he's uncomfy.. plus its not very hygienic.
Just change his diapers slowly/ softly, he wont wake up. Works for my baby girl.

Seconded, I didn't look back after you and another forummer phoenixbyte introduce this to me which in turn introduced to my son. However he's still wearing cloth diaper normally at home, something can't be replaced for the baby's comfort.

obc1126, coolababy is cheap but the insert is microfiber... not a solution if ur baby is a heavy wetter... u either need organic cotton, bamboo, zorb or fitted CDs... or u need to add booster to ur coolababy... microfiber is not a thirsty absorbent...

there is a new brand called Whoopee
the absorbent is not bad can use for overnight and the topsheet is soft and smooth.
kindly visit their fan page in facebook for sample request.
www.facebook.com/whoopeediapers
now they offer free delivery somemore and the price is RM28 for all sizes.
you dont have to lug the diapers and walking around the shopping mall.
"send to your door step" is the concept now.
hopefully you will love it.

Pet2 for my little hero. Was using Drypers before, but had some experience where the tape didn't stick properly.. at least a couple in every pack. & becoz it uses glue/tape, if U get some oil, eg. Yuyee oil on it, it won't stick. Pet2's fastening method (micro version of velcro) is way better. Cost is about the same per piece. I always bought our supply at 99Speedmart, consistently low at RM35-36.90 for M size...

Cloth diaper fits babies weighing 3kg - 13kg.. it comes with 2 inserts with each cloth diaper.. if the urine volume is very high, u can even put 3 inserts..

I only recommend 2 brands for disposable diapers. GOO.N and MAMY POKO. The rest, uh uh. I'm sorry, I've tried almost all brands, and don't find the rest good enough.

As for cloth diapers, I think, as a mother, you've gotta play the hygiene card here, you can use them, but be sure to soak them (before wash) right after you change them. Do not leave them hanging in the bathroom after they're used!

It will definitely save you alot. But if you're a working mother like me. I go for disposable. And GOO.N is by far my favourite. In Japan, GOO.N is more expensive than MAMYPOKO. I don't know why in Msia, they're cheaper, and with better quality. Super worth smile.gif

[COST SAVING]
Day time usage: 6am - 8pm = 14hours
Changing of diaper for every 3 hours: 14 hours/3 = 4.7 round up to 5 diapers
Night time usage: 8pm - 6am = 10 hours
Assume your baby only use 2 diapers in night time
Total: 5 diapers + 2 diapers = 7 diapers
You spend: 7 diapers X RM0.60 = RM4.20 per day (middle range diaper)
In 1 year time you spend: RM4.20 x 365 days = RM1,533.00
Compare to disposable diaper, you save on average in 2 years: RM1,533 x 2 years - (RM27 x 14 diaper) = RM2,688
Price ranging from RM16 - RM38 per diaper.
If you take good care of the cloth diapers, you will manage to use up to 3 years (RM4,221).

Assume you invest in Amanah Saham or Unit Trust and average you manage to get a long term investment return rate of 8%, when your children's 21st birthday, you prepared RM13,500 as his/her birthday gift.
Should this money go to the disposable diaper company or your children?
You are the one who make the decision.

Currently I'm using mommy poko for day n nite. Recently my 3month girl start to complain about her mamy poko diaper n i realise the tape is so hard n rough, her tight area become so red n got line by the tape.. Just remembered I have 2 samples of Goo.n in M size. After change to Goo.n , Surprisingly, my girl no more complaint n sleep so tight.

Yeah, agreed with u...Goo.n is softer than momy poko.. I'm looking to buy M size Goo.n supreme diaper... May I know any online store selling this brand? I google online can't get it in Malaysia website.

Thanks

My older sister has been using Pampers Diapers for her baby... She said that its the best.

Hi Kenling, where are you staying? you can find GOO.N in Jusco and Giant Hypermarket. I'm not sure if any online store sells this brand though.

My gal is using PetPet daytime and Mammy Poko Nite time.

So far, i find Pet Pet is quite economy and absorbant is quite good. I used Pet Pet throughout a nite before.. So far No leak, no rash.

But because of psychology problem, everybody saying mammy poko good, so i use mammy poko at nite in order to peace my mind.

1 more good thing to Pet Pet is no need to wait for promotion only can buy. normal day can get in RM36.90 for 80M. haha.. still afordable..

Yes, you're right. I am not sure if those you see in Japan are made in Japan (because mostly they are), but still, cheap. The ones we buy here are all made in Thailand.

When I was in Japan, GOO.N (another brand that you can find in Malaysia) is more expensive, and I remember vividly when I was there, the pack read "Made in Japan". The quality was so good.

When GOO.N first came in Malaysia, the pack also read "Made in Japan". But i notice now they're made in Thailand.

I really don't know about Pampers. I was using Mamypoko NB for my firstborn, I don't know how thin it was, but it sure didn't create any rashes on her bum bum and private area, very soft material.

For my coming bb, I have gotten him GOON S size instead of NB. I trust that the quality will not cause any rashes too. Good luck in getting Pampers NB smile.gif

Yes mine's a girl, she's about two now and trust me, when she stands up, her legs are straight and they don't look "open" at all, biggrin.gif

I'd really suggest you Mamypoko or GOON, they're not thick and can absorb v well.

I have v bad experience with other brands where they cause alot of discomfort to my baby girl. Baby skin needs the best care. Imagine their skin is so soft, and the diapers are so rough...

For Pampers NB, have you tried Jaya Grocery?

Added on June 1, 2012, 5:03 pmI want to check with all daddies and mommies if they have any experience using Pigeon Diapers. There's a shop selling them in Pavilion, and I was v. tempted to get some, since they're made in Japan, but my DH stopped me (he always thinks I'm obsessed with expensive diapers)

If you have used them on your babies before, please do share your experience! Thanks!

my company deals with SCA hygiene, the company that manufactures and sells drypers and libresse. i can grab below staff purchase but i don't use drypers products. Their drypants quite nice and soft but i still don't use it. Dunno why.

Mamypoko to me is ok la, thick but i feel it might get a little too warm under that thickness.

So i revert to using the premium huggies or when out of stock i will go for petpet. huggies is not for everyone to use. my friend's son tried huggies but leaked. my daughter use all ok and comfy.

so i guess each brand has their own str and weakness so no choice have to buy and try until happy lor.

My son... used to use so many types of brands until I forgot... but at one point of time is drypers/petpet for morning... nite time is always mamypoko... now he no longer use edi for so long...

My newborn dotter... using petpet/mamypoko combo... then this new brand appear.. which is super cheap... called Whoopee... first try ok... subsequent bought a pack... and only use 4... then my wife found out that my dotter got rashes... just after 1 day... hence we ask our babysitter to donate it to anyone who can use it... so becareful when you try it out...

We got a good babysitter who insisted on using traditional CD... so we buy a lot less compared to my son...

Hi HJebat,

The old edition of mamypoko was ok till they changed recently with new belt which is not even long enough to strap the waist.
Imagine I have to buy bigger size for my baby in order to provide comfy waist adjuster but the centre part is too long as its a size bigger in order to get longer belt.

The elastic band is not as good as GOON.

Once u feel GOON, its super soft and elastic and long wasit band allow to secure the waist band in place nicely smile.gif

Added on June 21, 2012, 11:37 amHi Savien, traditional CD is good!
In fact its the best!
But all the washing and my MIL is taking care of my BB so she doesnt like the pee stain around the house as it leaves a stench.

I only use GOON for nite time and whoopee during the day time. So far whoopee is working good for my daugther but change every 3 hours. I like whoopee coz its not too thick, unlike mamypoko which is too thick, its less hotter during day time smile.gif

Added on June 21, 2012, 11:39 amI tried the premium huggies as it was free pack given by the hospital, but my baby girl had rashes from it. so stopped. now i have 2 pack of pet pet for newborn i am trying to give away. my location in klang, any taker?

Added on June 21, 2012, 11:40 amTo note that my baby is 8 months, less than 8kg, so she is not over weight. But still MP wasit band is too short for her.

Hi Catherine,

I FINALLY found a mommy who's using PIGEON, wanted to try them since months ago! Where did you buy them from? I am at KLCC today, and couldn't see Parkson carries any.

I know there's 1 shop in Pavilion sells their diapers. Anywhere else?

Wanna get their NB diapers for the lil one.

i used both mamypoko, huggies and my LO had rashes.
until i was introduced by a friend mother to use merries. it was very good, soft and when it's wet, it's not heavy like the other wet diapers that will drop down from your baby's waist.
cloth diapers is still the best for baby's skin. i went to survey and ended up buying two types.
all in one diapers, and the all in 2 pocket diaper. im not sure how good is lunalots coz i've never tried them.

i tried charlie banana - http://www.charliebanana.com/
all in one is compact and the color is vibrant, nice. material is very soft and stays dry, usually i change them after 3-4hours unless baby poo, or pee a lot (3-4times). if pee just replace the inserts. one size only, can adjust from infant to toddlers. but the insert come in sizes. honestly i think those insert sizes doesnt make much difference. just buy the larges ones straightaway.

i prefer and love this brand the best - http://www.bumwear.com/
i used the one size pocket diapers. http://www.bumwear.com/shopping/clothdiape...php?category=13
it's pricey but i bought 10diapers + 30 NV-inserts from bumwear. they sell in packages too.
it has two ways of putting their NV inserts. it has snap-on buttons, and it's snapped on the diaper instead though you can still insert them in the pocket like any other pocket diapers. i only placed the inserts on top of the diapers, if it gets wet, just replace a new insert and the diaper stays clean. it's more hygienic for me as compared to the ones where i need to shove my hand in the diaper pockets to replace the inserts, and the baby would still sit on the surface she peed on although it gives a dry feeling.
by replacing the NV insert, it's like a totally new diaper on. and , i have to stress this - it's REALLY REALLY dry when you feel it even you baby pee on them for 5times. the inserts are costly but it's worth it. when i first used them, after 4hours i checked on my baby, i thought she hasn't pee at all, but then i flipped over the other side it's totally soaked with pee. i've been using this overnight for my baby and i dont even have to change her diaper at night.
highly recommended. saves plenty of money on disposables. i introduced it to my nanny and even my nanny is using them and not the disposables.

bumwear offers "trial kit" for new mothers. you can try before purchasing them.

drypers when newborn, then drypers day, mamypoko at night.
now her thigh is a bit plump, cannot use drypers, switch to huggies.

yes, CD can save a lot, i agree. but for me, disposable diapers save a lot of time from unnecessary arguments of whom to wash and hang them dry. both of us are tired after working. i salute working moms who could endure using CD. notworthy.gif

btw, huggies RED is always on sale at tesco - 30.90/pack. i found it as good as mamypoko and now using it day/night.
and Kao Merries are way cheaper in Singapore compared to AEON jusco.
