QUOTE(RiuK3n @ May 3 2011, 01:07 PM) Agreed, they dun even value whatever little supporters they have left Don't worry so much about the result and prize, it will come; Anyway, they're not obliged to give any prize or anything, right? The main purpose of the event is for gathering and learning photography, the prize is like the "additional" reward or icing on the cake. Worst is that this time it's an oursource PR company that is working for Nokia Stupid results also took damn long, how hard it is to just look at some pic and judge godammit Give them some time, plus, it's may not be part of their job or they might have some plans going on. I think to benefit for them, they might want to publish it or promote those "stunning" or "amazing" pictures taken with N8. Just my cheap 2 cents. There's no need to rush for the prize anyway right? |

QUOTE(RiuK3n @ May 4 2011, 12:48 AM) I'm actually not tat much concerned bout tat, rather i just dun like procrastinators Take it easy mate, let's not involve the photography event with it; I think you guys did great, so the memory should be keep as good memory.Or maybe just coz I dun like Nokia's service overall that's y i vent out like that Perhaps I'm just extremely unsatisfied to see the brand that I trust decaying, particularly Nokia Malaysia Super sucky after sales service, always give false promises and I could wait up till a month to b able to get my phone back Regardless, I'm happy that we were able to take great pictures on that day Whether they use it or not matters not to me at all Because I'm truly satisfied that I gave my 200% in taking those photos and they came out spectacular NO pain NO gain (quoted from botak) Added on May 4, 2011, 12:51 am Btw aspire, i wanna learn more night shots Maybe next event we can do night shots? Just my recommendation Anyway, for night shots, I think Shah Alam I-City might be good? SIFU aspire went there before and took some nice photos. |

QUOTE(andrekua @ May 25 2011, 12:26 PM) I don't know if I heard wrongly or what, but think I heard "we will hand out E6 n X7 to the Rangers". However event is going to be delayed. Is it? Don't put hopes on it better. Just wait.By the way, this will be purely Ranger Event; seems they separate the blogger and Ranger. Might be a reason for it. |

QUOTE(andrekua @ May 25 2011, 01:03 PM) It would better if we can get to play with Nokia WP7 prototype, as I'm definitely not that interested in Anna. Tested the Mozart in DiGi centre quite some time ago; It's beside HTC HD. It's super smooth, very iOS like smoothness and transitions; but also very iOS like in terms of no multi-tasking support but with addition of "homescreen". The Nokia WP7 phone is said to come with the latest WP7.1 which support multi-tasking (again iOS like multi-tasking, or more appropriate term, task-switching?).Overall impression is good, just don't really like the web browser and typing part. Maybe I'm not use to it or I'm used to a better one. And still no Flash support. Hope Nokia will come out with a good WP7 phone; and latest news seems it will be using/sticking to Qualcomm Snapdragon for it's WP7 phones. QUOTE(andrekua @ May 26 2011, 09:56 PM) Yes, I do feel the same at times. All these hype happens because of "free" phones; If the rangers never get "free" stuffs, then it will not be the same. That's why somethings is best not to reveal because no matter what, people will look differently and there're many types of people around. Anyway, when they first ask, they never mentioned anything about freebies, they only say attend launching, get information and so on; I also ask about any obligations or requirements, commitments, etc. there was none. The 'free' phones comes as a surprise. Rangers or not, actually we did not have any specialty at all. We have no access to beta, formal launches, etc. They want feedback and we have given them what they want, but where are the things that we want? Free phones or not, I really don't care anymore. One thing for sure when I joined is that I wanted to see how Nokia can reinvent Symbian and I don't want to spent anymore money on outdated smartphones. I'm still pretty disappointed to say at least, up until today. You really wonder if the view of Rangers on Symbian over the world is being used as one of the consideration when Nokia was considering whether or not to jump ship to WP7. Added on May 26, 2011, 9:59 pm Photography passion can only take you so far in reality. I'm also have privilege for invitation for launching, information for another different product; it doesn't mean there must be free stuff only join or anything. I'm not sure how many are active, but not necessary must post something meaning active, reading without posting is nobody knows. Plus, the rangers were NOT only from N8 forum, there're N900 owners, and other thread members, basically mostly is the thread starter as they work the hardest and provide the most information, spend lots of their time contributing without asking anything in return. Even if they didn't maintain it anymore, it doesn't mean their past work should be forgotten, they may have a family or busy with their life/work, etc. As for revoking the "priviledges"; I don't think it's a nice thing to say; If being a ranger for the sake of getting freebies, might as well say, no more freebies next time instead of keep changing the rangers? So, no need to fight who wanna become a ranger. It won't end, there will always be people who're not happy and "comment" something. Anyway, if those that are sooo keen, I think being a blogger gives you better "reward" and "opportunities"; You might get a lot more stuffs and sponsored by few companies instead of only Nokia. My cheap 2 cents. This post has been edited by Andy214: May 26 2011, 10:36 PM |

QUOTE(yeelin04 @ May 26 2011, 11:27 PM) macam itu pun mau gaduh ke?? That's why it's better not to reveal or say it out. No matter what, there will be people "unhappy" and start "commenting" about it.when comes the "free" phones things, all start to jealous.... rangers got their privileged might due to their contribution & nokia ppl seen it..not those that didn't contribute.. Anyway, the whole program, from the beginning, they never mentioned giving anything free. It comes as a surprise to all (or most). Either don't say anything or Nokia will decide not to give anything next time. Normally there's event for bloggers and some people maybe invited to the launching event, this happens to all or most products. Just to share a note: I have the priviledge to attend another kind of product launching which is also by invitation only; I attend not because they give free gift or free food, but because of the members and interest in the product. Similarly, we're not obligated to do anything in return. There's no FREE gift there, at most just a goodie bad with flyers/brochure. So far, nobody complains except some wish they could be invited to attend as well. But when it involves some "good" free gift, and the news is spread/shared around, "this changes everything". |

QUOTE(acemaster15 @ May 26 2011, 11:35 PM) Bout godlike issue i think nokia has sufficient hardware for daily use and i find it battery saving compared to my Arc, i agree is CHOICE but is better to speak as NEUTRAL PARTY and let people decide rather than making a big HUHA That's why I say, never to reveal.Im speaking based on overall who is MIA then back on track, i only say how often people multitask i dint say its "kept saying Symbian is the true multitasking mobile OS" . memory hogging does cause by multi app running at background and its not the phone's fault as user is not aware of his usage (and like some andriod user have to use task manager). ppl who own ipad/tablet will bring it anywhr they go and i dont think it will trouble them."Those who never appreciate doing these stuffs on a smartphone because they NEVER open themselves to the WORLD of ENDLESS POSSIBILITY brought upon us by the likes of Google, RIM, Apple etc" Define endless!!, it seem u're offended like me and reply thing that seem logic but not related to to WHAT i mention earlier. yes we can do office doc, email, games and other funny stuff but it has limits it cant ba a DSLR, PC, A REAL MAN ACADE your endless posibility sound like endless walts lol, thnks for reminding about endless walts imma goin to see some gundam movie best part (I bet some Nokia BLINDED fans are still complaining about the soft ringtone volume for other brand of smartphones.) ... im Mac and andriod user like i said before, and why would 1 complain about ringtone when one own the thing?yet again not related topic, is getting free phone, brag how bad is it, hide for few month, be active and seem to help people out, the best part hide again. please do spam me back cause it nice to see how u flame me and get angered by ur comments By the way, I think its not right to say hiding or what; Some have jump ship, so they seldom or rarely post here; It's just natural that they receive the email or calls, then just check up with others rangers here; Perhaps the wrong thing is to reveal something that triggered others, and perhaps the rangers should have their own discussion "place". Some is actually different Nokia model owner.... the world doesn't just revolves around N8; As far as I know, the main few ranger were thread starter from different model; aspire was N900 thread starter and as I know, it's where it all started. Another ranger, was active on another model. Then, some may be busy with their life, or started a family, etc. they maybe less active. Some maybe reading but not necessarily posting stuffs, especially here which mostly talks about non-related stuffs (it's been known since long ago, before the current active ones were here....) QUOTE(emino @ May 27 2011, 12:23 AM) I have SGS long before I have N8. Totally agree on the overpriced factor; Basically, you can get almost all the features with the iPod Touch at a lot lesser. Why would I want IP4? lousy Bluetooth, lousy signals, immediately breaks if dropped (and trust me, at the rate I've dropped my SGS, IP4 would have been totalled), no drag and drop, no built in codec (even N8 is better in that sense), no 3G calls, Facetime was a joke. Totally OVERPRICED for its limited set of features. This list can go on and on and on. Only true Ifags use IP4. Added on May 27, 2011, 12:24 am We order from my friend in Japan last time. A lot cheaper. Haha |

QUOTE(Agito666 @ May 27 2011, 12:38 AM) my history of the device...first nikon, then ipod touch 2G...then Satio, then ipad, then n8, then ...nothing. XD I want iOS because of it's apps and games only, so no point buying iPhone, which is more than double the price of iPod Touch; Plus, as a phone it's nothing special, except you get the attention like "OMG! iPhone!!!". the only device i duwan buy or dont ever wan to buy is iphone 4 XD...feel pointless XD....even thou that time i still using satio. But too bad, I think it's something I waste money on because I hardly touch it at all.... gaming, in the end, I still prefer PSP for portable gaming, the only thing is that many game weren't available for PSP which is available for iOS and the surprising part is NFS: Shift for PSP sxxks. Personally, for me, my purpose of getting a smartphone is a phone that works closely like a computer, or computer-like; That's what smartphone originally meant to be, with Pocket PC --> Windows Mobile... then iOS jumps in which "changes everything", but to me, I won't consider it a true smartphone as in computer-like, but a phone that is "simple and easy to use", an OS which only gives "Guest"-like account permission and there's no option for intermediate-advance users to turn on more advance option. Everyone is treated as the same "beginner" user. But that's me. I prefer something that I can use closely like a mobile computer, which I don't need to get to my PC/notebook to do things, unless necessary. There're many types of different users, so to each his own. There's nothing choosing either, it's one's own personal choice/preference, most important is it suit the person needs/requirement. |

QUOTE(yeelin04 @ May 27 2011, 12:52 AM) when nokia gives good thing, all also crawl here... LoL, that's the "common" reaction loh.when nokia did something bad, all critics like hell...all know how to say how bad nokia was... have u ever think about how good nokia was, when they give u good / free things?? show some courtesy pls.. I think what's important is, to give constructive criticism (positively), which meant to point out the weakness and how/what they can do to improve. But, reality is, most people just criticize negatively. It's also important to differentiate positive/constructive criticism, because people who do not know how to differentiate, will classify all as the same (negative); so become nobody can criticize..... |

QUOTE(Agito666 @ May 27 2011, 01:01 AM) for me, web surfing experience in iOS pretty satisfy. some simple touch screen games that on need to "think" / "learn" a lot....and well, iOS usually got some good quality games...that time la, now duno andriod market goes...duno good or not XD N8 got few useful things, it can play video files without need to convert or transfer from iTunes. I can hook up to HD-TV to watch the video/movie. Honestly speaking, many people using smartphones and iPhones didn't know this thing can be done... Just recently, we have "movie day" at friend's home, some of them thinking where is the video, when they see is Phone, they eyes blink in disbelief then can output to TV somemore, like some advance technology the only n8 good is ...very obvious...CAN PWN IPHONE 4 CAMERA KAU KAU in LOW LIGHT. that's makes me PROUD among in my IFAG colleagues. Another thing I like is the YouTube downloader... But the best is still the camera lo, plus can record HD video with audio capture capability. Added on May 27, 2011, 1:20 am QUOTE(yeelin04 @ May 27 2011, 01:04 AM) but the problem is, those ppl dont know ma... So, the best is don't hope or expect anything. Just like photography event, don't expect to get anything; take it as an outing, meet up, activity with N8 owners; The "gift" is the extra icing on the cake.only know how to "gosok" nokia shoes when they give free things..... but when nokia dont give things or no update, they will "step" nokia kaw kaw like rubbish nia... so what's the point for all those events that nokia made for rangers?? just wasting their money only.... We just have to remember, the purpose of the event is not to give us free gift (but if got, of course it's nice; but please keep to yourself if possible This post has been edited by Andy214: May 27 2011, 01:20 AM |

QUOTE(hengguowei @ May 27 2011, 08:02 AM) Is it still available officially? Last I heard it was removed from App Store.Anyway, it's likely not known to many, unlike other "nowadays" smartphones which native media player supports more file types, probably no conversion needed. Sadly, I hardly touch the iPod Touch anymore even touch it's meant to be "Touch" The iPad would be better choice now with its large screen giving better viewing and larger on-screen-keyboard; but lately, many "smart" tablets is releasing to the market. |
