I quite understand how you feel. I've been a Nokia supporter for the past 15 years of my life and it's a sad day for Nokia when a user like me to finally decide to jump ship to a better OS. The cam on the N8 is great but the cam on my current phone is not bad either. Just need to compensate a little, that's all.

watlao... finally there r someone posting something more realistic instead of keep blindly praising....

All these hype happens because of "free" phones; If the rangers never get "free" stuffs, then it will not be the same. That's why somethings is best not to reveal because no matter what, people will look differently and there're many types of people around. Anyway, when they first ask, they never mentioned anything about freebies, they only say attend launching, get information and so on; I also ask about any obligations or requirements, commitments, etc. there was none. The 'free' phones comes as a surprise.
I'm also have privilege for invitation for launching, information for another different product; it doesn't mean there must be free stuff only join or anything.

I'm not sure how many are active, but not necessary must post something meaning active, reading without posting is nobody knows. Plus, the rangers were NOT only from N8 forum, there're N900 owners, and other thread members, basically mostly is the thread starter as they work the hardest and provide the most information, spend lots of their time contributing without asking anything in return. Even if they didn't maintain it anymore, it doesn't mean their past work should be forgotten, they may have a family or busy with their life/work, etc.

As for revoking the "priviledges"; I don't think it's a nice thing to say; If being a ranger for the sake of getting freebies, might as well say, no more freebies next time instead of keep changing the rangers? So, no need to fight who wanna become a ranger.
It won't end, there will always be people who're not happy and "comment" something.

Anyway, if those that are sooo keen, I think being a blogger gives you better "reward" and "opportunities"; You might get a lot more stuffs and sponsored by few companies instead of only Nokia.

My cheap 2 cents.

hmm .. yes keh... partially agree wt you... but way before whatever ranger thing happen I already keep pointing out the weak point of the series of Symbian3 products..

although a lot of ex symbian user have similar opinion around the world, Nokia simply just too slow to respond... Nokia have heard the opinion.. but they can do nothing about it... but 1 thing here in LYN.. ppl don't like to listen to those bad comments... even some of the ranger know it well, they don't like to post it here simply becoz a lot of user cannot accept the fact...

although until today.. those latest phone video .. going to launch soon products, it still look so outdate...

i follow n8 thread until v23(or until 25).after that seldom visit this thread anymore.why?too many unrelated post,like t8t8 club,where to eat breakfast,lunch and dinner.somemore N8 PR2.0 update is a long waiting game.forever won't appear.so,its nothing to talk about.anyway,its my personal opinion.duno about others.

Yes. I go here eat, go there eat doh.gif

If Ranger event postponed to Mid-June, then probably that's the time when N8 will get Anna update. Wow, so slow wink.gif

Nope. Definitely no. Or why do you think they're still using ARM11 for all Symbian devices and nHD after 2 years 7 months since Nokia 5800 was released, still the same. Only improvement was Graphic chip and higher clocked ARM11 and of course Symbian^3 and capacitive.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

I'm forever active and try to help even though I do not own a Symbian^3 device to date >.< Only as far as I can help based on Symbian^1 >.< But there aren't really any serious issues discussed in this thread nowadays. I can see everyone is just using this as a communication channel between forum member. Taking this as a chatbox or something. unsure.gif I mean it's fun but nothing serious is being discussed. doh.gif

It seems the weightage of Apps availability and official support of software weighs more than that extra bit of cam power.

well... it's sad to see alex sifu jump ship already... well i got my dad n8 coz symbian ( easier for him to learn that than android OS ) and it's cheaper to get n8 rather than iphone... ( although i would also jump ship if i had the $$ for iphone5/android phones ) but still nokia phone rules in my family due to affordability which is nokia's main point...

Gratz to those who will get free phones from nokia and brag how bad they are as well taking a 3 months break before been feed again.

Questions comes back to user:
do we really need a godlike phone?
how often u hardcore multitask? (camerapro and normal camera app like me)
is the update(browers update) important that it can substitute your pc/notebook?

dont just simple huha u'll get free phone(and tell the HOLD WORLD), i dont think nokia will be that blind, it take 1 to check all previous post of SELECTIVE user and dertermine whether he get a free ride or not

BTW: im also mac(nvr iph) and andriod user too~
*
Its not about being godlike. I think Google I/O has the RIGHT word for you, ITS ALL ABOUT CHOICE. Giving user the CHOICE, to experience whats used to be impossible, right in your palm.

Who cares about multitasking? Only Nokia hardcore fans care I think.. a few kept saying Symbian is the true multitasking mobile OS as Android and iOS managed it in someway that apps are being closed without your knowledge. They have nothing to brag about, and they kept a blind eyes even as Symbian phone runs slowly with all these apps hogging the memory and to some extend running out of memory to use.

I have my PC hooked to my 37" which makes it not suitable for anything else but watching TV and BT. I had my laptop in its bag unless I really need Flash10. Despite the slimness and lightweight iPad2, it still quite troublesome at times when you just cant leave it in car/table just like that. Those who never appreciate doing these stuffs on a smartphone because they NEVER open themselves to the WORLD of ENDLESS POSSIBILITY brought upon us by the likes of Google, RIM, Apple etc. I bet some Nokia BLINDED fans are still complaining about the soft ringtone volume for other brand of smartphones.

I do not need rewards, or free phones. I can purchased them if I wanted to, BUT DEFINITELY NOT RUBBISH PHONES. Thats why I said, I did not want to pay for something that I felt was over-hype ever since the beginning. How many of you Nokia fans were saying S3 is nothing like you ever seen? LOL... yeah, one that sent Symbian to death valley... I never seen before? Oh wait, I seen and used one... Nokia 7710 based on S90. It was sent to hell during launch.

Does it matter ARM11 or not? Im using an ARM11 Android phone. Fast? Perhaps not as smooth as those 1GHz ARMv7 but usability, its about the same minus Flash10 and 720P playback.

Bout godlike issue i think nokia has sufficient hardware for daily use and i find it battery saving compared to my Arc, i agree is CHOICE but is better to speak as NEUTRAL PARTY and let people decide rather than making a big HUHA

Im speaking based on overall who is MIA then back on track, i only say how often people multitask i dint say its "kept saying Symbian is the true multitasking mobile OS" . memory hogging does cause by multi app running at background and its not the phone's fault as user is not aware of his usage (and like some andriod user have to use task manager).

ppl who own ipad/tablet will bring it anywhr they go and i dont think it will trouble them."Those who never appreciate doing these stuffs on a smartphone because they NEVER open themselves to the WORLD of ENDLESS POSSIBILITY brought upon us by the likes of Google, RIM, Apple etc"
Define endless!!, it seem u're offended like me and reply thing that seem logic but not related to to WHAT i mention earlier. yes we can do office doc, email, games and other funny stuff but it has limits it cant ba a DSLR, PC, A REAL MAN ACADE your endless posibility sound like endless walts lol, thnks for reminding about endless walts imma goin to see some gundam movie

best part (I bet some Nokia BLINDED fans are still complaining about the soft ringtone volume for other brand of smartphones.) ... im Mac and andriod user like i said before, and why would 1 complain about ringtone when one own the thing?yet again not related topic, is getting free phone, brag how bad is it, hide for few month, be active and seem to help people out, the best part hide again.

please do spam me back cause it nice to see how u flame me and get angered by ur comments biggrin.gif , let me teach u a thing .... A PRODUCT TESTER/REVIEWER WILL NEVER TELL THE PUBLIC HE OR SHE IS GETTING SOME AS A "GIFTS" FOR FREE.

That's why it's better not to reveal or say it out. No matter what, there will be people "unhappy" and start "commenting" about it.

Anyway, the whole program, from the beginning, they never mentioned giving anything free. It comes as a surprise to all (or most).

Either don't say anything or Nokia will decide not to give anything next time.

Normally there's event for bloggers and some people maybe invited to the launching event, this happens to all or most products.

Just to share a note: I have the priviledge to attend another kind of product launching which is also by invitation only; I attend not because they give free gift or free food, but because of the members and interest in the product. Similarly, we're not obligated to do anything in return. There's no FREE gift there, at most just a goodie bad with flyers/brochure. So far, nobody complains except some wish they could be invited to attend as well.
But when it involves some "good" free gift, and the news is spread/shared around, "this changes everything".

I do not need your teaching, best kept to yourself. The fact remains is that I'm not offended by your post. I don't know what makes you feel this way. If you are one of those Symbian coder, I might be but you are not.

I do not need to explain further on the above. It's up to you to perceived what I have said. Nokia used to offer endless possibility in the past but it's all but endless pain now. You can still keep on with your Nokia device, I'm not forcing you to leave Nokia. In fact, I have clients who just bought a C7. When they ask me what to buy, I won't recommend a Nokia but if they come up with qeuestion like, it's usable, of course a big yes. Then they come to ask you please help me install this game (pointing to the game I'm paying on my ipad2) and I will tell them f*** off.

That's why I say, never to reveal.

By the way, I think its not right to say hiding or what; Some have jump ship, so they seldom or rarely post here; It's just natural that they receive the email or calls, then just check up with others rangers here; Perhaps the wrong thing is to reveal something that triggered others, and perhaps the rangers should have their own discussion "place".

Some is actually different Nokia model owner.... the world doesn't just revolves around N8; As far as I know, the main few ranger were thread starter from different model; aspire was N900 thread starter and as I know, it's where it all started. Another ranger, was active on another model.
Then, some may be busy with their life, or started a family, etc. they maybe less active.
Some maybe reading but not necessarily posting stuffs, especially here which mostly talks about non-related stuffs (it's been known since long ago, before the current active ones were here....)
