Hacking boot loader only allow to flash custom rom. If you want to over clock, you need custom kernel.

It's really funny that all the rangers suddenly so active whenever there is a free phone is involved
U won't even see them this active when there is a ranger + blogger event
Bt when rumors started that there is a free phone they are the most active

I think I had made it quite clear when I get C7 that probably Nokia should broaden their Ranger list to include more people. Basically, function remains same, with slight difference on the exterior, camera capability, additional addon like voice cancellation, but core S^3 is just the same across the board. Why you so butthurt?

I bet all rangers will be quite active since most of these guys here mentioned free phones.
Can someone suggest to the person in charge of the Nokia Rangers to somehow terminate those Rangers who aren't active throughout the N8 thread?

Most of them got their free phones and ran away without any news/reviews.

Yes, I do feel the same at times.

Rangers or not, actually we did not have any specialty at all. We have no access to beta, formal launches, etc. They want feedback and we have given them what they want, but where are the things that we want? Free phones or not, I really don't care anymore. One thing for sure when I joined is that I wanted to see how Nokia can reinvent Symbian and I don't want to spent anymore money on outdated smartphones. I'm still pretty disappointed to say at least, up until today.

You really wonder if the view of Rangers on Symbian over the world is being used as one of the consideration when Nokia was considering whether or not to jump ship to WP7.

Same here, but Nic and Leo is totally understandable because u can definitely not see hypocrisy
And u can see their contributions previously too
They are true to themselves; eg:Nic openly declares angel side and iphone4

I quite understand how you feel. I've been a Nokia supporter for the past 15 years of my life and it's a sad day for Nokia when a user like me to finally decide to jump ship to a better OS. The cam on the N8 is great but the cam on my current phone is not bad either. Just need to compensate a little, that's all.

Gratz to those who will get free phones from nokia and brag how bad they are as well taking a 3 months break before been feed again.

Questions comes back to user:
do we really need a godlike phone?
how often u hardcore multitask? (camerapro and normal camera app like me)
is the update(browers update) important that it can substitute your pc/notebook?

dont just simple huha u'll get free phone(and tell the HOLD WORLD), i dont think nokia will be that blind, it take 1 to check all previous post of SELECTIVE user and dertermine whether he get a free ride or not

BTW: im also mac(nvr iph) and andriod user too~

All these hype happens because of "free" phones; If the rangers never get "free" stuffs, then it will not be the same. That's why somethings is best not to reveal because no matter what, people will look differently and there're many types of people around. Anyway, when they first ask, they never mentioned anything about freebies, they only say attend launching, get information and so on; I also ask about any obligations or requirements, commitments, etc. there was none. The 'free' phones comes as a surprise.
I'm also have privilege for invitation for launching, information for another different product; it doesn't mean there must be free stuff only join or anything.

I'm not sure how many are active, but not necessary must post something meaning active, reading without posting is nobody knows. Plus, the rangers were NOT only from N8 forum, there're N900 owners, and other thread members, basically mostly is the thread starter as they work the hardest and provide the most information, spend lots of their time contributing without asking anything in return. Even if they didn't maintain it anymore, it doesn't mean their past work should be forgotten, they may have a family or busy with their life/work, etc.

As for revoking the "priviledges"; I don't think it's a nice thing to say; If being a ranger for the sake of getting freebies, might as well say, no more freebies next time instead of keep changing the rangers? So, no need to fight who wanna become a ranger.
It won't end, there will always be people who're not happy and "comment" something.

Anyway, if those that are sooo keen, I think being a blogger gives you better "reward" and "opportunities"; You might get a lot more stuffs and sponsored by few companies instead of only Nokia.

My cheap 2 cents.
