Hey there, smile.gif

I was just wondering, how important is including a moisturizer in your daily skin-care routine? Can I leave it out?
I seem to be doing fine without it after applying my toner, but when I do use it, I feel like it causes more acne than before. It just makes me feel like its unnecessary. I don't even use it before applying makeup.

I can't tell if my skin is dry or oily or a combination thing going on. It just feels normal. :S How do I check?

I'm using Simple Clear Skin Oil Balancing Moisturizer + toner and exfoliating wash from the same line.

Depends on type of skin. If dry, then moisturizer will be necessary. If not better dont.

My skin is oily at the T-zone. so I dont apply any moisturizer on my T-zone. I only apply it on my chin.

I'm not expert but this is based on my experienced. Hope it helps.

Hi Trigger, yes, moisturizer is definitely a MUST! Moisturizer serves as a protection to our skin and it treats our skin concern.

You feel that moisturizer is too oily for you and causes break out is because you are using a moisturizer that is not suitable for your skin.

Dry skin: you feel your skin is pulling and tight.
Combination: your T-zone is oily but your cheeks are are ok

I was told by a dermatologist (with a phd from ireland btw...ppl tend to take advice from highly educated people XD) that it depends on certain skin. For mine, he said I should not use it until I'm in my twenties. During my teen years because my skin is able to produce oil well enough to moisturize my skin already...I should just stick with a cleanser and acne cream. No toner whatsoever.
Oily skin is actually good....people who have oily skin will benefit in the future because the reason your skin turns oily(have you ever noticed when the weather is hot your skin is oily-er?) the oil is a natural sunblock...that's why coconut oil can be used as a sunblock...people thing that oil makes your skin fry but it doesnt...it actually protects..hence ur skin ages slower and also that's why most people's face are lighter than their bodies. So you don't wanna be using strong cleansers and toners that will strip so much oil that you need to use a moisturizer. Make sure the cleanser is good enough to thoroughly clean your face (the oil doesn't cause the pimples it's the dirt that is gets stuck to ur face) but not too strong that ur face becomes too dry ^^

Moisturizer is actually important in your skin care regime. Although I'm quite lazy at times. xD

But the point of using moisturizer is to lock all the nutrients in your skin. Your problem of getting more acne after applying moisturizer should be caused by the moisturizer is not suitable for your skin. Might because of the texture too rich, or the ingredients inside. Better change another one. smile.gif

For me moisturizer is very important, whether you have an oily skin, dry or combination. But the type of moisturizer you going to used is difference. Moisturizer important to keep our skin moist. For those with oily skin can used moisturizer with water base. Clinique have one, I used to used that before before my oily skin turn to combination so not really oily anymore.

Are your skin type oily ?
IF yes, maybe you should try using serum / lotion instead as it is light weight . For me moituriser is like plain water while serum with added benefits eg antioxidant would be beneficial

* Olay Regenerist Regenerating Serum
* Paula Choice Antioxidant Serum
