Hey there.. I'm looking to get myself a Flame Red 3ds probably in December (as an incentive to studying like mad for STPM... rclxms.gif). Went to a few physical stores already and I noticed these small 'round stickers' on the 3ds boxes and sometimes on the games too.

Some of them are red, while others green. Do these stickers tell you anything about the console's region or something?

And, aside from the serial number.. is there any other way to determine the console's region? It's because there's this particular shop that I went... I asked the shopkeeper about the console's region, and the first thing he told me that the regions doesn't matter, and he *thinks* he's selling the US ones..eek. shakehead.gif

I've been following this thread (like a ninja.. blush.gif ) and I know that if I bought the JPN one then I can only play JPN games. Which is why I'm aiming for the US sets...

Hoping that all of you can enlighten me on this...

there isn't any noticeable difference between different region console
if i remember correctly.. ya that sticker if only exist on the Asi version games and console
on other version there's no sticker... my memory is vague ...

the common 3ds you get here would be US/ASI region.. no worries...
*
Ahh..okay, thanks for that info.. one more thing though:

The serial number of ASI sets starts with...? I know US ones starts with CW..

Correct me if I'm wrong..hehe. .

Ta-daa... a few more questions for you guys.. ^.~

1) Both the ASI set and US set 3ds can go to the e-shop, right? But which one can be used to purchase stuff there? I'm not really sure... @.@
2) Aside from downloadable games and their demos, videos, applications.. .what else do they offer? Do you find yourself going to the e-shop often?
3) 'Coins' and 'credits' are two different things... right? If so, what are the differences? Just making sure...
4) And lastly (I hope), when you get the 3ds, are there any 'specific checks' that has to be done..? I mean, like... aside from checking whether the buttons, the touchscreen and speakers work...

Hehe...thanks in advance...!

1. Both using the US Eshop.. you need to set the country to US only can access eshop..
Asi = US 3DS basically...

2. check when got free item at eshop.. =.=

3. Coin you get when you bring your 3ds on a walk with your 3ds in sleep mode... coin use for unlock item ... like puzzle in find mii...
credits use for purchase games and DLC... you get credit with real life currency...

4. no idea... never check my when i purchase
*
...ahh, so they have free items there...

Thanks for clearing lots of things up, kenji.. ^^

There's another thing I want to ask, this time it's about updates and accessories..

Is it true that when you buy an original 3ds game, it will automatically help to update your 3ds console into the latest firmware? (haha, I hope I got the terms right.. sweat.gif )

They're so many casings out there: silicon casing, crystal casing... What are the differences between them? I know what they look like, but function wise..they should differ in terms of protection, right?

Btw I'm gonna get myself a hard pouch for the 3ds though...so, no worries.. ^.~

And do I really need a spare stylus? I think the given stylus is robust enough...but, is it really necessary?

I've got a soft pouch for the DSi and 3DS. Just intending to let it go for RM 10. heh.

Pictures? I might be interested..

QUOTE
1. i can't confirm since i own my 3ds before the first firmware ..
2. recommend to get Silicon casing.. crystal casing will be scratch easy so it will be not nice after awhile
Silicone is soft and blurry.. while crystal is hard and clear see through
Using mine without a casing
3. get a better stylus if you are playing with games that need good accuracy at Kid Icarus or theatrhythm.. not a must but a good to have

I'm thinking of a silicon casing too, but i had bad experiences with it and my iPod.. it left some kind of weird looking smudges on the back of the iPod... ><

you're getting ori or XL?

Original normal size 3ds.. ^^

Yup, I can confirm this because my friend's 3DS got the prompt to update the firmware when she first played PM: SS. Got the message something like "You need to update to xx.xx in order to play this game" IIRC  smile.gif
*
But for that, I'll need wifi right?

Correct me if I'm wrong, the update should come with the game cartridge rite? Because I don't remember my friend's connecting to the wifi in order to update the firmware though.
*
QUOTE(ballistix89 @ Nov 26 2012, 12:13 PM)
You don't need wifi for that. The update will come together with the game cartridge.
Just load the game and the 3DS will update itself. Done this when I bought Super Mario 3D Land together with my 3DS.
*
..so, it all depends on how 'new' is the game? I mean, if i bought a game which is older than the latest 3ds firmware version, that means I won't get the update?

Yeah. In my family, the only Nintento console I've seen them playing is the Gameboy Colour, and the Gameboy Advance SP. After that Sony took over.. PS1, PS2 and now PSP.

I always wanted to try the DS consoles when I was younger, mainly because of its interesting playing style. Don't worry though. I'm gonna get the 3DS soon... ehehehe...
(and make sure bro sticks with his PSP...XD)

I got my 3DS XL set from HeavyArm for RM880, so far the 3D effect on KH3D is quite nice although I will feel pretty tired if I play too long with it on without stopping so I will turn it off after some serious grinding. tongue.gif
*
Well, everything needs some getting used to. smile.gif Thanks for the feedback though! Now I'm dying to get my hands on a 3DS... >W<

Might be going to Lowyat (tomorrow maybe?) just to check the 3DS price (hopefully in the RM600-700 range) there.. Any good dealers you would recommend from there?

Both Asi and US set are pretty much the same right? Only difference is that Asi has the local charger and local warranty (3 months, was it?)

I'm probably going for the Asian set for now...

RPG:

Kingdom Hearts
Legend of Zelda
Tales of the Abyss
Kid Icarus
Final Fantasy
Radiant Historia
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor
Lufia: Curse of the Sinistrals

And of course, Pokemon series.
*
I think I'll go for the normal size one, but then again, I never tried holding the XL one..not sure whether the bigger size will compromise its portability. I have small hands too.. XD

Yeah, pre-ordered KH3D and FF: Theatrhythm from Kyo... just waiting for it now. Plan to get Virtue's Last Reward and Harvest Moon: A New Beginning (I'm a sucker for Harvest Moon series.. *ahem*)

I played Tales of the Abyss on the PS2 b4.. is it the same on the 3ds too? Gameplay and story wise, I mean... FF not bad.. ^^ I never tried Legend of Zelda yet.. (the 3ds will be my first Nintendo console).

Never heard of Lufia: Curse of the Sinistrals though... ehehe...

then u must try nintendo 1st party game...mario kart 7....

can wifi play...samo i heard ppl said it's 3d effect is awesome...

im waiting for best price version... tongue.gif
*
Yeah. First. Unless you count me playing GBA games on emulators on the PC, but that was long time ago.. hahaha... played on cousins Gameboy Colour and Gameboy Advance SP. Because all this while, we're Sony all the way. Now, big big kid liaw, collect collect money and buy own handheld console! Muahaahaha~ Actually, I don't really feel like depending on parents' money...gotta be responsible now.

I've seen the Mario Kart 7 review. Now the kart can fly and even go underwater, yes? Not bad, but I don't always play wi-fi. No wi-fi at home yet... No gang to wifi play at my place... T^T

Anyone played the new Prof. Layton game? Miracle Mask, was it? ^^
