I have no idea why some mod deleted my thread, probably because its not worth starting a new thread. so i'll just paste it here again:
QUOTE
I'm thinking of buying 3ds xl really soon, and i just wanna be sure i'm not just making an impulse buy that i will regret later on.

I have a lot of gadgets n gaming consoles as it is. i have the ps3, xbox360, psp, macbook pro retina (which i play ps2 & wii games on emulator), ipad & iphone. But whats missing from that list is nds/3ds platform which i never touched even on emulator.

I love these games:
- resident evil series
- kingdom hearts series
- metal gear solid series
- harvest moon series
- rune factory series
- mario series (esp paper mario)
- final fantasy series
- other japanese rpgs like tales series

I'm not so sure about pokemon, never really got into it before.. But with the enhanced graphic in black & white 2 i thinking of giving it another go (if its not too late that is).

While its obvious that a lot of my fav games are on 3ds/nds, its also important to note that I care for both great gameplay AND decent graphics, eg i cant play a gba rpg even if it has super awesome story.. I just lose interest >.< but then again i guess i can always get my graphic-whore fix by playing ps3/xbox at home, so idk.

i take 1hr public transport to work everyday (2 hrs both ways) and i like having 1 more handheld game option at my disposal. So far im enjoying playing games on psp which has awesome graphic but clearly that system is on the edge of dying.

The deal that i get is rm780 for new 3ds xl (us set) + 8gb sd card + new & sealed resident evil revelations. Ill slowly buy 3ds games (kh ddd, harvest moon & mario games are next on the list!)

Should i go for it? Or should i just hold out and buy wii u, ps vita or even ps4?
any input is highly appreciated!
thanks guys!

I saw other ppl discussed that on other topics so i thought it was okay as long as i support original for 3ds games. Sorry if thats not allowed, ive removed that bit from my post.

Hi hafez, thank you for ur reply.
i see that u have both 3ds and vita. In your opinion is there a huge diff in graphic when u compare best titles on both consoles? (eg resident evil revelation vs uncharted). Personally, which system do u like better?

Edit: btw is it necessary to have crystal casing for the 3ds xl? do u guys use it?

Wow I'm mightily impressed with Resident Evil Revelations, the graphics and 3D are just fantastic! At some point I thought I was playing this on PS3/XBOX360. Hard to believe this is a 1st year 3DS game shocking.gif

Super Mario Bros 2 is good, the 3D effect is nothing special but the gameplay is very fun. I especially love how we could fly with the raccoon mario powerups, it feels really awesome lol. Though I wish it has online play cuz I don't have any real friends with 3DS to play with sad.gif

Anyway I'm really enjoying my 3DSXL so far, and I woke up late to work this morning blush.gif But I don't understand why they switch A & B and X & Y buttons; as XBOX360 user this is very very confusing for me.. mindfk moment everytime I in panic mode when zombie appears! lol

Kingdom Hearts 3D is definitely going to be the next game on my list! I'm such a big fan of the series and its one of main reason why i got the 3DSXL in the first place.

I also want to get:
- Super Mario 3D Land
- Paper Mario Sticker Star
- Kid Icarus
- Harvest Moon: A New Beginning
- Mario Kart 7
anddd maybe FIFA 13 if the review is gd (havn't check it out yet)

There will be a lot of games with good graphics coming too;

Beyond the Labyrinth
Monster Hunter 4
Shin Megami Tensei 4
Bravely Default: Flying Fairy
Rune Factory 4
Animal Crossing

Phew.. dont think my wallet can catch up really laugh.gif

Wow thats huge.. Thinking of buying one for myself too cuz I have big hands so Circle Pad Pro would make the 3ds xl even more comfortable to use and hold.. Hmmm.. But it wont work with my crystal case right?

I think I'll go for the normal size one, but then again, I never tried holding the XL one..not sure whether the bigger size will compromise its portability. I have small hands too.. XD

Yeah, pre-ordered KH3D and FF: Theatrhythm from Kyo... just waiting for it now. Plan to get Virtue's Last Reward and Harvest Moon: A New Beginning (I'm a sucker for Harvest Moon series.. *ahem*)

I played Tales of the Abyss on the PS2 b4.. is it the same on the 3ds too? Gameplay and story wise, I mean... FF not bad.. ^^ I never tried Legend of Zelda yet.. (the 3ds will be my first Nintendo console).

Never heard of Lufia: Curse of the Sinistrals  though... ehehe...

get 3dsxl if u can. overall its not that big (can put into pocket) but 90% increase in screen size is just too awesome to miss, especially if ur already used to psp big screen.

if ur a fan of HM series, u wont regret getting HM: A New Beginning. Its one of the best and there are a lot of things to do + multiplayer.

the multiplayer mode of resident evil revelations called raid mode is kinda like rpg too. u can collect items n loots like diablo n borderlands.

these 2 games alone could easily get u 200+ hours of gameplay each and will keep u companied for a long while.

Here are some of my recommendations:
  • Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance might be your best bet if you like KH or any typical final fantasy game.. vibrant graphics, good gameplay (probably the best in the series) & interesting dream eater ability learning system..
  • Paper Mario Sticker Stars.. well a lot of ppl hated it because they removed character level and exp after battle.. but for me its still a good RPG because u have the traditional turned based battle, using stickers u collected as ur attack move.. the graphics are awesome and level design are good & the puzzles are pretty clever. This game is all about resource management, which sticker to use, which to keep, u need to think how to maximize ur damage over a whole level, not just 1 battle (because u can bring a limited number of stickers each time). Coins are the new EXP and I think its a good concept and I had a lot of fun playing so far!
  • Zelda OoT needs no introduction i think.. must buy if u've never the played the game before! (can save anywhere, easy to hop in and out)
  • Tales of Abyss is another port that u should not miss if u like jrpg, very good story and gameplay.
  • Resident Evil Revelations might not be a RPG, but I would recommend it due to its multiplayer Raid mode which allow u to spend hours and hours to collect better weapons n loots, diablo / borderlands / other mmorpg style~
  • Harvest Moon: ANB for all your farming needs! (can save anywhere, easy to hop in and out)
