I like it very much after the 5 to 1 split.
I hate to mention this.... I heard rumors that they are going to get rewarded with a infra job.

He He

Any views?

They make it cheaper for retailer to goreng? Anyway, pickup some yesterday in the range of 163-165. Keep some cash for IPO.

I learn it from you, master rosdi.. jk jk
Was shocked to see it topping the volume yesterday with that price and just made 2 BUY entries. whistling.gif
Understood that they did a sub-div of their share, to make it attractive to retailers.

what a play.
1.70 was the previous barrier it struggled really hard with the institutional buyers.

in the face of retailers, 1.70 is nothing lol.

Hi smile.gif

I'm new in stock market ~ Invested in YTL before splitting. So, eventually the price of the stock will rise to the level before splitting right? Given that the company perform constantly?? The price now is almost equals to the before splitting 52-week high(1.7x5 =8.5).

Hi
As i had mentioned earlier , I bought this for a longer term.
On my longer term view I am still very bullish on this.
There are now more than 9Bill YTL share now so the base is quite huge
so expect the movement will be quite slow.

I think hard to get 1.55 on Monday as it is expected to rebound, Still good to enter at 1.58 if you don't mind the 3 cents.

There are always a few factors to consider.
Profitability/ loss . Time Frame, and the velocity compared to other opportunities.
Just like driving in a traffic jam .. sometime we have to switch lane.

This counter may move up again but I need to switch lane now as I saw a better prospect elsewhere.
Exit at at 1.60 at a loss for 6% loss.

No worries. Current support level is at 1.60/ 1.55. Unless market downtrend badly, or something bad happened to YTL Corp, I don't see the price slumping towards 1.50 in the next week.

Any ideas why this counter recently dropped to RM1.48 ?
*
It must be crazy to even considering buying YTL now.
It almost hit a two year low.
It is due to thist hat I am watching YTL closely.
Previously when it hit a 2 year low it will reverse fast and furious.
Will it happen this time ?
Just wait and see.

some forumers were saying that certain bluechip counters hardly moved after share split.

the last share split was 26/4/11 1:5 8 -> 1.68

is ytl exhibiting the same behaviour...OR other external factors like sovereign debt, EU, etc

BTW, sister counter, ytl power drop to 1.96 new low too

note: not accumulating yet.....at the side line watching shocking.gif

Today all YTL's counters make a good move.
I like to see YTL to make a bit more before calling for a buy..... rclxms.gif

YTL's valuations at 2 year low is attractive, but currently got some headwinds in sister stock YTLP due to IPP agreements.

otherwise, accounting book valuations are all pretty solid @1.40 hmm.gif

Opinion from a friend working inside YTL, the dissatisfaction is because the Company is still a family owned company. The management system is yet to be transparent and merithocracy.

However, due to the good performance of the sister companies. The Company is still has a better fundamental comparing with others. Maybe we need to be more patient.

They play with themselves among their family members. EPF dumping sure means this counter will not make them earn profit.
If not mistaken this counter price now is LOWER than the 2008/2009 crisis price.

Most people don't like slow & steady company (long term growth & dividend yielding company). As in the report (the star), Francis Yeoh told he want to expand slowly & at the right price. He also acknowledge the investing people mindset.

Recently down trend of YTL share is partly attributed by EPF paring down its stakes. After EPF stop selling, the price should go up. It is very attractive now at 52-week low level.

YTL eyes water and power projects in Johor?

Conglomerate YTL Group is actively pursuing infrastructure assets in Johor which may include water treatment and power plants, sources said.

It is understood that among the assets YTL is eyeing is Ranhill Energy and Resources Bhd’s water treatment plants in the state.

Sources said YTL had already started initial discussions to secure large infrastructure projects in Johor.

Ranhill has an exclusive licence to supply source-to-tap water to end-customers in Johor. According to reports, the current licence is valid till 2014 and renewable every three years.

Johor is the country’s second most populous state with about 3.4 million people as at 2012. It is estimated that water consumption in the state would grow by a compounded annual growth rate of close to 7% in the next seven years, underpinned by heavy investment in the property and oil and gas sectors.

in this week The Edge:cover story about YTL
i read thru, and it talked about some of the previous acquisitions, and they could be gearing up for something big.it said something about some land redevelopment in JB
and if you are a persistent investor(read long term) you will be rewarded (chart showing dividends)
also talks about YTL power 2000 kw bid is unlikely to win,so investors would be looking at its 1Bestarinet and the breakeven of its 4g operations

YTL Corp Q1 profit up 11.4% to RM594.9m

YTL Corporation Bhd’s profit rose 11.4% to RM594.9mil in the first quarter ended Sept 30, 2013 from RM534.10mil a year ago.

It said on Thursday revenue rose at a slower pace of 2.7% to RM5.21bil from RM5.07bil.

YTL group managing director Tan Sri Francis Yeoh Sock Ping said revenue growth was mainly from the group’s cement, property development and investment and hotels segments.

As for its cement business, competitive pricing resulted in a marginal decrease in the division’s profit despite a 9% revenue increase.

Its hotels segment’s revenue rose due to its three new Marriott hotels in Australia, although unrealised foreign exchange losses contributed to a slightly higher overall loss before tax for the division.

U buy stock not just for its dividend but also for capital gains when the price increase. If U just look at dividend yields, better invest in REITs which pays comparatively high dividends.

Target RM1.94 (Stock Rating: ADD)

We are positively surprised by talk of an RM8bn plan by the government to extend the Express Rail Link (ERL) service from KLIA to Malacca. Any such plan could help YTL secure the high-speed rail (HSR) project to Singapore, as the extension would represent a major portion of that contract. We make no changes to our EPS, target price (20% discount to RNAV) or Add rating, with catalysts still expected from expansion of capacity in the cement division and securing the Track 4A power concessions by YTL Power.

What Happened

The government may be looking at extending the ERL service from KLIA to Malacca, according to the Business Times. The RM8bn project would comprise a 45km KLIA-Seremban leg and a 45-55km leg from Seremban to Malacca. Approval would depend on the results of a feasibility study by the Public Transport Commission. ERL CEO Noormah Mohd Noor said that the proposed extension could help ease congestion on major highways in the Klang Valley. "With the ERL, travel time from Kuala Lumpur to Seremban should be about 50 minutes, and an additional 30 minutes to Malacca".

What We Think

This extension could help ERL and YTL secure the HSR project to Singapore, in our view. The HSR involves a parallel line stopping in every secondary town between KLIA and Singapore and this extension would address a major portion of that service. The RM8bn cost of the extension works out to RM90m/km, nearly twice the original cost per km of the ERL. This is not a surprise, taking into account capital-cost inflation and land-acquisition premiums since 2002 when the ERL was completed. The RM90m/km cost would imply a total cost of RM30bn for the HSR, in line with expectations.

What You Should Do

We have not factored the HSR into YTL's valuation. The RM8bn extension and HSR project could fill the current vacuum in its construction profits. Assuming a 5% net margin and 3-year construction period, HSR could potentially add RM130m to YTL's bottom line or 8% to our EPS forecasts. YTL's shares are poised to perform strongly on the back of positive newsflow going into the second half of the year.

Highlight: YTL in talks to buy 49% of NSL thermal power business - report

KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 11): YTL Corp Bhd is in talks with India's Hyderabad-based NSL Group to buy up to 49% stake in the latter's thermal power business, The Economic Times reported today.Quoting a person with direct knowledge on the proposed deal, The Economic Times reported that talks between YTL and NSL were already at the advanced stage.“The talks between YTL Corp and NSL group for 49% stake in NSL Orissa Power and Infratech are now at an advanced stage and due diligence process is currently going on.“The deal could be entered at little over par of investments brought in by NSL promoters and YTL may pay premium payments over the next few years based on milestones,” said the source.NSL Orissa Power is setting up a 1,320 MW coal-fired power project in Orissa's Angul district. The project involves an investment of around Rs 8,000 crore, which is being funded through debt equity of 70:30, noted the Indian daily newspaper.“Apart from acquiring land for the super critical thermal power project, the company has also obtained all the clearances and awarded engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to Tata Projects,” The Economic Times  reported. The source said YTL was also in talks with NSL group to buy a majority stake in the operations and maintenance arm of the Orissa project.NSL group Chairman Mandava Prabhakar Rao was quoted as saying earlier that the group was planning to sell the 49% stake in its power arm to raise funds. He did not elaborate.According to the news report, NSL has an operating renewable energy portfolio of 185 MW and is implementing a further 1,000 MW of renewable energy projects, where several global investors picked up stakes by investing over $60 million.NSL's website shows that the group started in the mid 1970s with a seeds company and had diversified into a variety of agriculture-based businesses, besides infrastructure and power.

Putrajaya has fined YTL Communications Sdn Bhd RM2.4 million for failing to provide all 10,000 schools with the 1BestariNet e-learning project, the Education Ministry said today.

It said that 1,003 schools had not been equipped with 1BestariNet because YTL Communications had failed to obtain approval from the local authorities to build telecommunication towers in several states, particularly Sarawak, Penang and Kelantan.

“Due to the delays, the government had fined YTL Communications RM2.4 million on October 27, 2014,” the Education Ministry said in a statement today.

It added that the ministry had provided Internet connection to those schools through other service providers to allow the students to carry out their studies online.

The 1BestariNet project is aimed at installing high-speed 4G broadband across all 10,000 schools throughout the country, as well as a VLE platform for E-Learning.

The Auditor-General's (A-G) report revealed today that the Internet connection to 4,176 users of the RM663 million 1BestariNet project was delayed by between 12 and 439 days, with no time extension or fines levied.

The A-G also said that 89.1% of the 46 schools surveyed and 70.3% of the 491 feedback received by the schools found that 1BestariNet coverage does not encompass the entire schools' compound. – November 10, 2014

Im very sorry to everyone my software provider (Excel Force) give a wrong info. Please forgive me. I believe anyone of you who are using excel force software, for YTL PE its show 6 plus. Base on my knowledge and YTL annual report 2014 (Page 002 Financial Highlight), EPS is 15 cents. PE should be 10.93 (Base on RM1.64.). Anyway, its still one of the lower PE Blue Chip. Beside that, my cost after deduct dividend I receive is RM1.405. I very sure Im fully enjoy when I travel around the world. Good luck. God bless. Giving is receiving.

I would like to say sorry to everyone and Excel Force. Please kindly forgive me. I find out Excel Force are right. Its because if you add on non controlling interest as profit. YTL PE is 6 plus. God bless.

Just sharing!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_chip_(stock_market)

Base on my knowledge and experience (11 years), I Just share my point of view as a cleaner. I buy in YTL not because its Blue Chip. YTL is a Value stock. Stock in theme (Singapore-Malaysia high-speed rail). YTL own 50% of Express Rail Link Sdn. Bhd. (ERL Express). Cash Rich. Pass five (5) years positive financial. Low PE. High dividend for Now. When to buy in. Boss Holding more that 50% share. NAB RM1.41 for now. Business Type (Utilities, Cement, Construction, Property, Hotel, IT.) Where is the business please? Answer is international (UK, Australia, Singapore and more.). Its not depands on MY GOV. One of the YTL current bad business is YES 4G. Beside that, YTL is out of shariah Compliant. Islamic fund from Malaysia not allow to buy in YTL because of this rules. On other hand, a lot of islamic fund from Malaysia need to sell off YTL from holding. Anyway, if foreign fund revisit Malaysia, YTL will be one of the best choice.

At last, Im full time investor and consultant. I advice my customer. My customer trust me because my integrity and trustworthy. This is what I really appreciate and satisfy. My concept is create passive income from investment. My invest min RM100k cash per customer. Profit and risk sharing. May I know as a civilians how long you need to save to reach RM100k cash please? May I know as a civilians how many RM100k cash you have in life please? I always try to minimun mistake. Im not allow to take my money or their money to risk. Example: when you have RM100k, if you lost 30%. Balance will be RM70k. May I know how many percent you need to win for break even please? Answer: 42.86%. Lost is easy. Win back is hard. If you want fast money go casino, stock market not suit you.

God bless. Giving is receiving.

You'd have to figure out whether the yield (other than special dividends) is higher than the FD rate first smile.gif if not there's no point smile.gif

YTL Bhd could be the big theme play for current enviroment.

1) Utility defensive play during economy down turn.
2) Proven quality stable revenue, profit & dividend play.
3) Majority earning from oversea ( SGP & UK ) if the weakness of Malaysia currency a concern.
4) Speculative theme on HSR
5) Consolidated local cement players, with the competitors elimination, only matter of time the last standing cement players to dictate the cement pricing moving forward.

Let observe how long this theme can last during this type of environment.

TYL-C55 , the RHB MM too lousy. The tick spread too wide. Just stick with the mother shares.

YTL Power & YTL going into KLCI index soon. See what is ahead 6~9 months down the road, be earlier than the rest of the sleeping funds

With KLCI index coming down, YTL Power & YTL moving up, it will be matter of time KLCI components reshuffle with inclusion of YTL & YTL Power.

YTL not going to be a penny stock any longer.

the retail contra players, if you can't afford to hold, just don't join.

the operators know your movement in/out , they share the information among their group & they know where to press until it's hurt & you need to succumb to contra losses.

2ndly, pls avoid the call warrants at all cost, just stick to the underlying.

Because if you don’t have the money to play you will start when major players are using it to move the share price up and down easily that is why you buy underlying shares because the share value is protected

Warrant play is 1 or 2 level above the normal investing.

If ordinary investing (without time constraint) you couldn't grasp it, there is no need to go into the field with the time constraint.

If you didn't realize :-

1) Every 2~3 weeks, the issuers are coming out with new issue of CWs. Existing one, after they sold it, they don't bother to actively doing the MM activity in fair manners.

2) When the underlying are moving up, 99.9% of the time, the CWs will not tracks the movement underlying in fair manner but when during the reversal movement, the CWs are tracking the underlying movement so efficiently on the bid spread.

3) Majority of the MM are just being unfair on the bid spread. To make money out of CWs, you need the underlying movement to move harder , even when the underlying is going up marginally or remained stagnant, you are making losses.

4) The premium paid for purchasing the CWs, the premium level can drop from 30% premium to 0% by no movement of the CWs price to track the underlying.

There are actually more -ve points but the above 4 alone are enough to make an ordinary retailer to succumb to lose with so many disadvantages against them.

The only reason why I see retailers going into CWs is because the instrument are offering a cheap alternative for the underlying movement exposure without fully aware of the disadvantages against them. Only a handful experience "fighters" know what they are doing.

We maintain BUY on YTL Power International (YTLP) with an unchanged SOP-based fair value of RM1.50/share, implying an FY24F PE of 10x. We ascribe a 3-star ESG rating to YTLP.

Our net profit forecasts for YTLP are unchanged as we believe that the impact of the implementation of the energy price cap in Singapore is small.
Recently, the EMA (Energy Market Authority of Singapore) announced that the capping of wholesale power prices from 1 July onwards using a formula tied to natural gas and generation costs.

The move came about after wholesale prices continued to jump in Singapore this year in spite of sharp drops in natural gas. This was partly due to the hot weather and a shut down in a power plant in May for a turbine upgrade.

We understand that the price cap would be 2x to 3x the long-run marginal cost of electricity. The price cap kicks in if wholesale prices exceed these levels.
We believe that the impact on YTLP is minimal. Energy prices in Singapore have eased and are not close to touching the price cap.

We think that it is unlikely that wholesale energy prices would surge unless there are spikes in demand or major disruptions to gas supply like last year. The USEP (Uniformed Singapore Energy Price) has dropped from a high of S$3,594/MWh on 15 May to S$177/MWh on 13 June.

Also, about 75% of YTLP Seraya’s energy revenue in Singapore are based on contracts, which are locked in with customers for 2 years. The balance 25% of the revenue is based on spot contracts. Hence, the risk that the price cap would hurt margins is small.

YTLP is currently trading at a FY24F PE of 8x, which is lower than its 2-year average of 24x.

YTL will mirror the movement of YTLP until the MRT & HSR award comes into speculation.

It will takes some time to recover, those weak heart / contra have been filtered out in yesterday stampede.

Wednesday, June 28th, 2023 at Breaking News | Business | News

YTL Corp Bhd plans to pay RM1 billion in dividends per annum for the financial year 2024 and 2025, translating into dividend per share (DPS) of 9.5 sen and yield of 10% per annum.

The target was shared by the top management of the Malaysian-based company in a meeting with a group of select investors in Singapore, according to CGS-CIMB Research in a report released yesterday.

YTL believes the current government will return to business and accelerate project flows post the state elections and thinks the group has a key role to play, according to the report.

CGS-CIMB Research recently hosted a roadshow where YTL Corp executive chairman Tan Sri Francis Yeoh Sock Ping and director in the executive chairman’s office Lucius Chong met a group of investors in Singapore.

It said that YTL reiterated fiscal discipline to keep its cash level at US$3 billion at any point for strategic acquisitions.

It also reported that YTL said it could unlock value over the next few years by paring down stakes in assets such as YTL PowerSeraya Pte Ltd and Wessex Water Services Ltd via a possible listing as investors continue to discount its RM72 billion asset base as at FY22.

On this, YTL provided a caveat that there needs to be stability in the cyclical cement and construction businesses with key projects such as Mass Rapid Transit Line 3 (MRT3) and Kuala Lumpur–Singapore high-speed rail (HSR) rolled out.

At the meeting, YTL team was also reported to have said that core assets, such as Malayan Cement Bhd, including the Vietnam venture, core land bank in Sentul of 165 acres, Power Seraya and Wessex Water are not for sale.

Peripheral assets will be disposed of, with the most recent being land in Perak, which will bring in cash of RM70 million, it said.

In the report, CGS-CIMB also addressed the question as to why YTL was engaging the investment community now.

“YTL believes the current government will return to business and accelerate project flows post the state elections and thinks the group has a key role to play. It also wants to groom the next generation, which will eventually be more involved in the business,” it said.

CGS-CIMB has reiterated its ‘Add’ rating for the counter with a 52-week target price of RM1.28. It ended yesterday’s trade at 95.5 sen.

The stock, which has been hovering between 54 sen and 68 sen in the last two years, began surging May 17 when it closed at 75 sen, up 8.5 sen from the day when it closed at 66.5 sen. Close to 130.59 million shares exchanged hands on that day, its largest single day trade since December 2020. – TMR

Construction sector seeing inflow of funds probably from the rebalancing of the portfolios. Funds starts rotating into construction sector on speculation the sector will benefits from government spending on major infrastructure.

Current movement in stock price = 6 months lead of the expected market activity.

Today QR announcement is sufficient to fuel the movement at least another 3 months to the next QR. Along the line, few more expected catalysts:-

a) MRT3 around Oct 23 during tabling of Budget 24
b) Inclusion into FBMKLCI Index Constituent. At present with market capital of 15B, YTL already climbed ahead of Dialog (12B), AMMB(12.2B), MRDIY(14.5B), QL (13.3B), Sime(14.4B), Westport (11.9B).

YTL is just a position away to overtake GenM at 15.6B

YTLP (14.3B) also ahead of Dialog (12B), AMMB(12.2B), MRDIY(14.5B), QL (13.3B), Sime(14.4B), Westport (11.9B).

By year end, inclusion of YTL & YTLP to FBMKLCI is reality.

c) The listing of the assets

d) HSR

Long for the counter, close both eyes.

The fun managers having a lot of fun toying with YTL & YTLP after the budget 2024. Actually it was kind a let down on the budget.

However, when I read what Transport Minister said before, the HSR and MRT3 would never be in the nation budget.

https://theedgemalaysia.com/node/682032

“For MRT3, as you know, (all) MRT (projects) have always been off-budget. They have never been part of the national budget. The expenditures on MRT projects are not reflected in the national budget. It does not fall under DE (development expenditure) through MRT Corp"

It is not over, there is still hope as the tender validity bond have been extended till year end.

"Separately, The Edge has learnt that MRT Corp has notified companies that the validity period for their job tenders in relation to MRT3 has been extended. The tender bond has been extended by three months from Sept 30 to the end of the year. Bidders have been told they need to submit certain required documents for the extension of the validity period."

a) in the next 2 weeks, the dividend will go ex on 9/11/23. 4 cent will yields around 3% per annum at present price. If the dividend is 10 cent in the coming years, it will yields close to 7.4%.
b) 3rd QR ending 30th Sep 23 will be reported on 3rd week of November 23
c) couple with possible conclusion / decision on MRT 3

At the present price of 1.34 which have already fallen by 21% from the peak of 1.7, it should be a lot safer now. Utility sector will still be favored in theme (stability) in the current volatile market condition. It is just not the time for other theme play yet.

When stock prices dropping for decades, the corporate executives rewarded themselves with multimillion ESOS last year at low prices.

How can they reward themselves when share prices dropping like crazy for a decade?

It's very dilutive
