own channels, possible in xbmc... can read that thread, something of that sort was recently discussed.

can you tell me where did you find that thread?
the one i found so far are for people outside china that want to see chinese tv

i'll wait some time before upgrading to the new firmware, i'd like to find out something that works

as per google play i found a "good" alternative is 7PO Market all in chinese but you can find some app similar to mango tv with more movies/series also in 720 or 1080

can expect not all of them work well outside china.
my experience - youku never works. pptv, ppstv and vqq work fine.

i actually find mangotv the best - newer stuff, live tv, well organised, big library.
not everything works but good enough, incl hd stuff.
i just watched a new 6-episode documentary called "tastes of beijing" in hd, excellent.

yeah youku works only inside China,

i mostly use VST (has some part of the menu in english also)

and IQIYi, so far my best choice because the one with the widest library

TOGIC has also a wide choice, plus in the settings you can tell the app to connect to the hong kong server, that would solve connectivity problem if you are outside China and have any of them
