Hi anyone facing Himedia Q5 pro Kodi wrapper always crashes for certain period of playing?

I have to use Kodi wrapper due to the latest kodi version doesn't support audio passthrough.

pc->q10pro can be done with samba of the box, no need plex or any other app.
activate samba in settings, go to media center, LAN to find the pc, key in info.
of course, u need to allow access from yr pc - best to read up windows file sharing first.
3gb is a small file, no problem with std 2.4 ghz router.
but bigger files, hd audio... will need better router, 5ghz.

r u using current firmware 2.0.4? that should be fine.

i assume u mean local playback with kodi n wrapper and not online kodi streaming.
but why play via kodi with wrapper when u can play direct with himedia player?

Yes. Latest firmware 2.0.4. Yes, local playback via LAN network from my synology NAS.

You are right, play direct from himedia player no issue for the audio passthrough, but I will lost the subtitle display (srt file). No option for me to load the srt file. Do you have any idea to load the subtitle srt from himedia player? Thanks.

I think i misunderstood u or u hv mistaken...

When u say use kodi wrapper, do u mean set wrapper app to kodi player or wrapper player?

Also, do u mean how to load srt file u already hv or download online as u play?

In the Wrapper app, 2 options found:

Option 1: Set to KODI player
Option 2: Set to Wrapper player

I set to Option 2: Set to Wrapper player.

In my NAS, my movies (mostly mkv file) are stored in individual folder. I manually download the srt file and put it in the same mkv folder.

If i play the movie by using Himedia player, no subtitle display as i play the movie.

My objective now is, want to play the movie with subtitle (srt file which already downloaded) and audio passthrough. Any idea?

2 things strange here..

1. if u set to wrapper player, local playback via kodi will just send the data to be played with native player.
i.e. same as using native player direct.
u do not get the kodi menu to load subs the kodi way.
u load subs the same as when u use native player.
so, if u can load subs with kodi+wrapper, u can do the same when using native player direct.
so, i don't understand why u can do with one and not the other.

2. when playing with native player, pressing the MENU button at the center lower right of the remote will bring up all the options -
audio, subtitles, picture quality, etc.
under subs, u can choose any sub that is available.
by default, it will read ENG SRT.
so, if there is an SRT file there, it will read it.
this default srt sub reading feature has always been there, since previous models.
so, i don't understand why u can't get it.

nas or internal hdd or usb hdd, there should be no diff for playback with native player.

if all the above is correct, i can only suspect your 2.0.4 firmware was not installed properly.
i hope u had done correct progressive updates steps and not e.g. jump from old android5 1.0.5 to android7 2.0.4.
wrong sequence updates will certainly cause strange problems.

lastly, best for another q5pro user to commnet as i am using q10pro.
but as far as the subtitles feature is concerned, it should be exactly the same.

does Himedia have native Netflix apps? can Himedia play youtube 4k with adroid apps or have native app? or any streaming native app that Himedia have? such Hulu

When you say "Native", do you mean like exclusive to HiMedia alone or what? As for Netflix, you'll be limited to 480p and no DD sound cuz it's not a Netflix certified device. I'm unsure about 4K YouTube and Hulu and the likes of it.. Are independent apps & maintained by their own devs. Subscription required.

no native streaming app of any kind, only native player for playback.

youtube, can install 4k version.

there used to be a native china streaming app, mangotv, but no longer.

if u hv the right sources, there are numerous apps that work very well in HD, a minority in 4k.

When I play the Untouched Blu-Ray Discs files, the video and the audio are dis match, picture more forward and the audio is delay, is it any setting I have not done yet......

Intent to get tv box/media player, but is torn between Q10 Pro and Minix U9-H. Price for these 2 boxes is similar and within my budget. Both seemed to receive good reviews. Q10 Pro has been in the market > 1 year, not sure if worth to wait for new version. U9-H is slightly newer. For TV boxed almagic S912 seemed to be more widely use compared to Hicilicon ( maybe because of the cost). I have good experience with Himedia previous products thus more incline to Q10 pro but there are some shortcoming like astro go and Hypp TV app don't work on this box but Minix is ok. If plainly for video playback would have chosen Q10 Pro as generally I believe it offers better PQ. But when considering both streaming & video playback then the decision is more difficult. Any expert advice?

i hv not used minix, only himedia incl q10pro.

from what i know, yr assessment is quite correct.

if u want astrogo-hyppewhere, a heavy kodi user, u should get minix u9h.

if do not need that but use it more local playback, video-audio quality, q10pro will be good.

also, price same... q10pro has int HDD slot, u9h doesn't.

typically, updating firmware for a box = put file in root thumbdrive, put in usb slot, press down and hold reset button with pin/toothpick, power up

for others to help u, u need to describe better...

TQ for your advice. You just cannot have everything in 1 box. Any sifu knows if there would be newer version of Q10 Pro launching soon as this box is > 1 year?

Anyone has any idea if there is modded astro go /hyppwhere apk that can be installed in Q10 Pro?

Actually I'm also looking at these 2 boxes and incline towards buying the Q10 Pro for the main reason that it will provide better picture and audio quality.

In fact I still don't fully understand why Minix u9H cost so much higher than any other Android boxes that are using the same S912 chipset other than the good Wifi connection and maybe firmware support. Wonder how is Himedia A5 which is also using the same chipset but cheaper.

i personally think himedia make too many models.

Q series - Q10pro (2/16gb), Q5pro (2/8gb) - hisilicon chipset.

there is a new Q30 (2/8gb) coming but is a really washed down version of the Q5pro.

Nope, doubt a successor will be released soon. AFAIK, no modded AOTG/Hypptv app available in the wild.

IMO, I'd go with the U9-H.. No arguments..

Branding..Reputation.. Same reasons why the likes of Samsung or Apple can charge a premium for their devices.. Theirs is built to function well and last.

first, u need to be sure that firmware is correct for yr box.

i did a little checking... not entirely sure... but i think that one is for 2/8gb whereas yr box is 1/8gb, not the same.

u need to confirm it is the right one; diff model firmware will not install.

i m not using any H8; hopefully another H8 user can verify for you.

where did u buy this box, can u ask seller?


also, by "extract", i hope u mean copy.

the zip file should be used as it is, do not extract the zip.
