Any suggestion that I could get HiMedia Q10 pro in klang valley with reasonable price and after sales service?

Reasonable price? Up to you to decide.. Willing seller, willing buyer..
After sales service? You are your best after sales service. Let's be frank here, you expect a "reasonable" (cheaper) price but still want "hands on" after sales service? Sellers of such boxes only make a tiny profit, don't expect much.. Grab control, invest some time and pick up tips and tricks on your own. You'll be better for it and your box will thank you.

I am new to android TV box, just bought myself a Himedia H8 octacore TV box.

I am looking for program or codes to be able for me to watch Malaysian local TV channel. I had tried the one that posted in this forum last time but it doesn't work anymore. Please share if anyone knows ya. Cheers.

in kl-pj, there are several retailers selling them.
just walk around the IT malls or IT stores in shopping malls.
or check how to buy online.

"after sales service" - this is an impt part. as such boxes cost rm200-700 each, it is hard to expect the seller(s) to keep servicing for you since each hr of labor is priced RM80-100 for things like aircond, washing machine, water filters, even grass cutting!

so, do check what u get preinstalled, where and how u can get help later - after u have paid the money in full.
such boxes are not plug and play; they need maintenance and updates all the time.
in the end, only DIY will work.

but i think your best bet is with KODI app.
i do not know if all channels are available with a single addon in kodi as i don't watch them.
and yes, they come and go, so need to maintain, find new, etc.

one reason few people bother with it is becos they are available in astro or hypptv, no need to do via some other box.

You are welcome. Most boxes typically ship with a one year guarantee and the average seller will assist with such claims. It's a good idea to clarify such with the seller first.

Just received my Himedia H8 tv box today from Lazada However, noticed that there are a few pre-installed default apps (Chinese) already configured that I don't think I'll be using. Even the system language was initially set to Chinese until by lucky guess, I managed to change it to English.

My question, is there any issue/danger to do a factory reset on the box to clear all the pre-installed apps?

factory reset should be done only when u have firmware issues or too much garbage in there.

to remove the apps u don't want, go to settings/apps and remove them one by one.

there are some that are part of the sys, cannot be removed - the message will pop up.

even if you do factory reset, the sys backup will reinstall them.



there may be apps in there that are good and useful, u may need them anyway - e.g. es file explorer.

and, one possible risk u take if u do factory reset - if the unit comes with googleplay-youtube, they may be erased.

then u may have to find then and reinstall again.

what screen u get when u power up?

i see that u r on firmware 3.0.1.

u should update to 3.0.3, the latest.

the launcher should be back.

if u wish, there are other launchers u can try - apex, nova... free ones.

no need to factory reset yet.

That Himedia Launcher, can I uninstalled it? Where is it located?

Most likely it'll be a system app and can't be uninstalled without root. Try using Android's app uninstall... Go to systems > Apps.. Locate a similarly named item, enter and follow instructions to uninstall.

As previously advised, install a third party launcher from the playstore and set it as the default launcher.

you did not answer the question... if the himedia launched is lost, what do u get when u power up?



in any case, if u install another launcher, set it to default, u will have a launcher working.

if the himedia launcher message pops up again, it does not matter since that launcher is not in use.

For some strange reason, the ES Explorer pops out first evertime i turn On the player then i'll have to exit to get to the Himedia Launcher. So it was thru the ES that i accessed the Play Store to download new launcher.

However after installing the ne wlauncher, the error on Himedia keeps popping out which is irritating which is why i thought of getting rid of it permanently.

But Sifu, since i'm able to access it, how do i back up and where is the back directory supposedly to be save in (NOOB here)? Or ill just update firmware, then install the various apk one by one incl Kodi....

installing new firmware does not change yr apps and settings, all will remain.

but, as a practice, best to backup yr apps, keep copy on USB drive.

there are many ways, but i do it with an app called "backup restore".

this app, if u click the right places will back up all apps u want in a folder.

then u go to es file explorer to find it under home.

stick yr usb drive in and copy it.



now, if u r an ardent KODI user, need to do a bit more to back up yr setup.

the app above only backup the APPS, not the user data.

to do that for KODI, u do manually - go to es f explorer, android, data, find a folder org.xbmc.kodi.

copy the whole folder.

next time if u need (e.g. remove and redo kodi), overwrite the same folder with yr copy - that will give u the same KODI set up as u had.

Just done upgrading and installing most, missing a few apk namely TV2.0 for live hd badminton, where 2 get it? Awaiting Nicety adv as well....
