@Vox: Some things to try out:

1) Defrag your hard drive.

2) Restore your system to stock using the Recovery CDs you made.

3) Sue HP.

Defragment your hard drive.  This is basically getting a program to rearrange all the bits and bytes on your hard drive so that all the ones belonging to one file are strung together in sequence, instead of them being scattered all over the place (fragmented).  A fragmented hard drive means slow performance when you access those files or programs because the hard drive has to rummage through the whole hard drive for them instead of reading it all in one go.

Windows has a built-in defragmenter, but it's awfully slow and your children will have grandchildren by the time it's done.  I use Auslogics Disk Defrag, which is much much faster
Then I hope you haven't gotten rid of the recovery partition.

Start Menu -> Recovery Manager -> Recovery Manager.  Choose "Restore to factory settings", which will restore everything to factory settings as if the notebook just came out of the box. 

To make recovery cds, choose "Make Recovery DVDs" or something like that from the same program.
I personally think that you should try to do a factory reset first and see if the lag is still there.  Might as well try everything before you go for tech support.  Check to see if you have the lag before you install SF4; who knows, maybe there's malware in the crack if you got a Blackbeard ™ version, or it might just be a poorly written crack.  Not just SF4; check before and after installing all your other programs as well.

just kidding bro. the speaker is ok, quite loud but the sound will distorted when i max it. it doesn't have subwoofer but u still can hear the bass.. unlike my old Compaq laptop. it has 4 speakers btw.

bout the headphone, i'm not so sure... the sound is awesome when i use my DV6. When i plug it into my compaq the sound quality is terrible    but when i boot into my linux box in that compaq the sound is awesome again.    i'm using system-wide equalizer in my linux, so i think the keypoint here is equalizer since the DV6 have beatsaudio and my linux have alsaequal.

that's what I thought but previously, it was at 16x and no lag at all.

false alarm... the distorted speaker sound are caused by my foobar, don't know who crank up the equalizer  tested with wmp and mpc-hc.. no problem at all.

i think i found out the culprit already..
at graphic properties, if you change the filter from standard to edge-detect, your font will change,   

edit : actually no again lol.
if you revert everything to default then it will change back the interface to the old one.. 

better try the settings urself and see what each of the settings do.

yeah.. i think its not appopriate too. from my experienced before, either the seller pay or 50/50.

tested Street Fighter IV. Other than a few spikes probably because of my FDM, uTorrent and recording this video, the game is smooth as butter.

i just test the beats speaker from this laptop.. it F-ing awesome..
i really love this dv6 spec.. but 15.6" and kindda biq for me.. huhu..

i can still consider HP DV4 because it have good graphic card better than nvidia 540m i think..

because i ask thier brochure for laptop price. they said it new laptop(for DV-6). they still dont fill in brochure yet..
perhaps you can find at 1stfloor shop, not at the groundfloor. the price is rm3599.00+beats..
i also ask them if want buy without beat headphone.. they cant sell without it.
im not worry about the budget..
i consider the size because i will continue futher stdy..
so always need to carry the laptop  i think..

why not u go test out the laptop.. if u can handle 15.6 inch.. just take it la.. try carrying it..

a bagpack will do the job but you tend to carry extra weight.. strain makes u tired.. if tired cant concentrate luu

Got DV7 tho.. i7-620m, 4gb ddr3, radeon 5670, old model. imported i guess.

count in the distance you walk everyday.. you basically add up the amount of energy to be used to carry extra 500G.. its not about if I can carry that amount of weight but its total energy I will save with a lighter laptop at the end of the day

maybe not the studio laa..very d expensive..hermm...ok need opinion on SOLO and SOLO HD..is there any much differences??
