no monneh lol.

hmm anyway long time i didn't tweak my GPU. last night just install latest SLi driver to optimized Crysis 2, the framerates down tremendously.

single GTX280M could push up till 35 FPS on Advance setting but after enabling SLi, framerates down not reaching 20. suspecting outdated GPU Driver.... gonna fix this by next weekend as my holiday ended by today sad.gif
*
Suggestion: Fix it by getting the M18x bro laugh.gif laugh.gif

closing shop already. new system implemented by Dell making the Staff Discount to be not applicable anymore. but already roger to my uncle if he know any way for me to get it cheaper again, he will email to me (which i think will be quite a long time before new system will be implemented)

i believe a lot of seller here will be affected as well.

seems like this is the best for me. maybe He want me to concentrate more on my study smile.gif

guys, i'm gonna be a new alienware user here, but 2 things i need to clarify...

1) Intel iCore 2720QM will be good enough, or should i get 2820?
2) 1GB AMD Radeon HD 6870M or 1.5 GB Geforce  GTX460M OR 2GB Radeon HD 6970?

I need answers by today so that i can place an order with Dell.

Thanks guys smile.gif
*
If solely for gaming, i7-2720QM will be enough.. Not worth the extra money for 2820QM nod.gif
AMD HD6970 would be better? hmm.gif

Considerig to get the m14x just wanted to know if there are any known issues?
*
- Randomly shuts down when on battery (intensive gaming)
- Reduced screen refresh rates on battery
- Very loud fan
- Hot right palm rest
- 3GB GT555m is only slightly better than the 1.5GB one (need more benchmarks)

Care to share the reason of your purchase for a gaming laptop instead of a top of the line gaming desktop? Mobility?

Mobility, superb warranty support, cool factor, perfect craftsmanships & built etc. etc. nod.gif

as what T.J said....but the cool factor sure is one of them...man, i would bring my laptop into starbucks and sit there, while everyone is using their apple....most apple users here are such posers...seriously speaking shakehead.gif
*
Haha.... too bad its not such a wise move over here... the only thing you'll attract here if you bring your AW to starbucks are thiefs laugh.gif laugh.gif
I have to admit that in Malaysia, Alieware's are rare to see than Apple, even the M11x which is more portable hmm.gif

True, but those who can buy a Mac, even the cheapest MBA11, could afford an M11x as well laugh.gif
But then why would Apple fanboys appreciate Alienwares sad.gif

Do you actually play serious games in starbucks, or just surfing net.

It's heavy & big right?
*
Ya its heavier than most laptops of the same size haha, which probably explains why no one brings them to Starbucks (at least not here)....
I've never been to Starbucks haha so I'm in no place to comment doh.gif
But I think those who go there would only surf the net, at least that's what I'd do...
Gaming on battery is not that fun

Normally how many years before an Alienware becomes obsolete like normal laptop already catch up with the processor & graphic cards? 3 years can? Or every 2 years need to buy a new one.

Or you can just upgrade the graphic cards like desktop?
*
High end Alienwares can last very long in terms of specs nod.gif
Take the Doc's Alienware with GTX260 for example, its still better than most of the mainstream mid-level GPUs we get in the market now rclxms.gif
Iirc, they are upgradeable for the M15/17x, and probably the M18x too

I've been using my m11x r3 for a few days now since saturday.

Received the wrong power cord though, had to buy a 7RM one to be able to temporarily plug my laptop to the adapter.

.. and the adapter so big as hell, it's too bulky.

I'm trying now to get the correct power cord or even have DELL replace the whole adapter to the slim one, hope they allow it.

How to get to the ownerlist? hehe need to put service tag here? (Although my service tag isn't in dell's system yet)
*
Wah, Dell gave you wrong power cord? shocking.gif
Better call them up and have it replaced... its your right laugh.gif
Grats on your purchase~
The M11x R3 is kind of impressive according to reviews, much better than its predecessors nod.gif

I thought Mr Docter's Alienware uses GTX280 SLi which is better? laugh.gif
Yes they are upgradeable provided the BIOS support it, and the power supply is sufficient.
But I've found modded BIOS for M17x R2 if I am not mistaken, at Tech Inferno forum, whereby with this BIOS
there is no more restriction on what card could be installed. smile.gif
The easiest way to see this is to compare what console are available on that time.
For example, right now we have XBOX360, and as long as XBOX360 is still in the market, then most probably
you can play most games on high, until next gen of console is arrived, it is expected next gen console from Microsoft
will be released on 2013. This is the time where most graphics engine got updated to a new level, as many games currently
are ported from console. But, with the specs of current high end GPU, I would say it will last longer.
What I said is based from what have been discussed in other forum. smile.gif
*
OMG, sorry Doc for typing your specs wrongly lol doh.gif doh.gif
The thing is that only the M15/17/18x wouldn't get outdated that fast because of the flexibility in upgrading them components... but the same thing cannot be applied to the M11x and M14x, where the price is paid for portability instead

Mostly high end graphic card is minor different compare each other. Just the graph of the review made the customer mind what to buy. Simply just a few fps different.
I own most of the alienware, but still...... well after u guys step in desktop world then only u know what is performance
*
Understand what you mean nod.gif
Compromises have to be made on laptops...
Still, I'm looking forward to entering the desktop world when I have a permanent place to stay rclxms.gif
