it is not hard but you must be very diligent, make sure you prepare all the items listed, add in a air-can just in case you need to blow off dusks. I had a problem when i connected my GPU, i had blue lines on my display, so i blow the GPU connectors and re-seated the GPU again and it was fixed.

Yes, i upgraded by myself. Get the card from Dell Taiwan for RM 2k with assistance from my friend. SInce its the same card use in M17R3 so no issues at all. Just the replace the original heatsink screw with custom one since original m15x heatsink screw have gap between GPU and Heatsink. 

I even OC to almost 6990m performance and max temp at Full load is 89-90C. Idle 54C. Play DAII, Crysis 2 at almost all setting max except shadow etc. Dirt 3, withcer 2, Starcraft II all maximum setting at full HD 1080. really satisfied and big improvement from 460m which i upgrade from original 260m

Happens to me as well sometimes. Alienhead won't light up and touch panel icons won't light up as well. They seem to go together and have their mood swings. But most of the time I hibernate my system instead of shutting it down. After a restart or 2 they re-light. If its a concern then give DELL a call bro.

The lights won't come up until after AlienxFx starts, but only applicable to advanced lights settings though
