- Randomly shuts down when on battery (intensive gaming)
- Reduced screen refresh rates on battery
- Very loud fan
- Hot right palm rest
- 3GB GT555m is only slightly better than the 1.5GB one (need more benchmarks)

Duh so jelly of you guys buying such expensive laptops.

Care to share the reason of your purchase for a gaming laptop instead of a top of the line gaming desktop? Mobility?

Pricing would be a factor there.

True, but those who can buy a Mac, even the cheapest MBA11, could afford an M11x as well laugh.gif
But then why would Apple fanboys appreciate Alienwares sad.gif

Do you actually play serious games in starbucks, or just surfing net.

It's heavy & big right?

Ya its heavier than most laptops of the same size haha, which probably explains why no one brings them to Starbucks (at least not here)....
I've never been to Starbucks haha so I'm in no place to comment doh.gif
But I think those who go there would only surf the net, at least that's what I'd do...
Gaming on battery is not that fun

Bro, i've checked out the laptop for you, the specs are above, it's the old model, i think Dell are trying to clear it by selling it to the retail, and Broadway is selling it at a higher price as well. I think it's better if you can order it online, or ask around here, i think there are people selling it, but no idea how it'll be sent over to phil though...wink.gif

Hey bro, thanks for your help! The good news is that it DOES exist in HK retail shops. I'm hoping I'll be able to find an R3 looking around the marketplace. How much more overpriced are the older models though? And are they R1s or R2s (I can't see where you place the specs biggrin.gif)?

I'm crossing my fingers I'm gonna find an R3 there...I found a few articles from blogs that some retail scores used to carry m11x models back in October 2010. I'm hoping it stays true up to now.

So if you not really bringing it out may i know why choose expensive alienware instead of powerful desktop which you can keep upgrading them?

Also do you hook up your alienware like a desktop to LCD TV/Monitor, surround sound speakers, external keyboard & mouse etc? Coz it'd become more like Desktop already.

i did some walking around just now around WanChai, and there is this computer center beside the southern basketball court (Mtr exit A5, the left building once you've exit the station), there is a dell shop there, but yet again, they don't carry ex-stock there....but honestly, looking at the specs i just gave you, those are older specs...so don't expect much man....

just realized that there is 3 usb port when my friend forcefuly plug it on esata instead of unplugging my cooler.. hahaha
but esata port is kind of tight so should be careful not to plug unplug roughly... broken means, hardware replacement..

well, for me is mainly cuz of mobility , and i do hook up speakers and mouse keyboard etc, but no monitors lol.
im the type of guy that is always on the move ~ staying at frenz house occasionaly , and gaming with them, and i constantly move between KL and Johor.... so a desktop is not really a good choice for me , and aw is kinda like a desktop replacement ~ i mean the 1 i want ~ m18x. and it looks cool =D
