For those using old version i7 u may need this tools to stop all throttle on "heat, voltage"

all review u may refer to below 2 link.

p/s: a better cooling pad and aircon needed and higher watt ac adaptor needed for my personal advises.
Throttle Stop Performance

ThrottleStop Guide
For M15x with atil6970m ot 6990m 150watt ac adaptor is more den enug juice for it. unless u go for GTX580m  biggrin.gif

This information is obtained from Notebookreview forum. There is no difference between using a 150 W power adapter and a 240 W one. One visible benefit is that the 240 W adapter is not as hot as the 150 W. Maybe you can say throttling is less to occur for 240 W adapter.

During heavy gaming, M15x draws about 180 W from the 150 W power adapter, causing the adapter to heat up considerably. On the other hand, 240 W adapter can easily deliver 180 W, without the adapter overheating. Note that 240 W adapter can only deliver up to 180 W, no matter how you try it, as it is limited by M15x BIOS.

You can use either one of the adapters. For the 240 W adapter, you just have to disable "Adapter Incompatible Warning" in M15x BIOS. Hope this is helpful.smile.gif

Yup... So wat do u think if ur 150watt ac acadaptor always giving over voltage? It wil get heat and spoiled easy lo, yet still 240watt is the best solution to solved it. No to say not avantage ya.

For diasable warning in bios actually no help at all. Cos most of the dell model notebook is accept bigger watt ac adaptor. They only giving the warning wen u plug in lower watt ac adaptor lik 45watt.

If u got extra money... Can think to upgrade to 240watt acadaptor, but recommend upgrade ssd 1st.

Good upgrade will be the 6970. Worth the price if you don't mind forking out RM1.2K at least.

Agree with what you said, kelvin_hata. notworthy.gif

This shows that 150 W power adapter is too weak to be used by M15x. In other words, Dell Alienware underestimated the power requirement of this laptop. As it is a laptop for gamers, gamers tends to push their gaming beasts much harder. The safety margin in term of power supply was too low, resulting in the 150 W adapter overheating all the time. mad.gif

At least, the power supply for M17x-R3 and M18x respectively is sufficient.

i think your fan is want to retired already lo..., LoL

or maybe the contact between yor heatsink with GPU really bad..

when repasting try put a fingerprint of the thermal paste, and after put the heatsink, try pull it back, see wheteher the fingerprint still there or not.., if still there, means the contact really bad...
