I really can't wait to know the performance of AMD BlackComb XTX and NVIDIA N12E-GTX2, since their current flagship is already powerful. smile.gif

Anyone has any insider news when will Dell Malaysia equip the M17x R3 with the new GTX580M?
Since the US can already be configured with that GPU.

LOL guys the moment I wrote this suddenly Dell Malaysia updated the M17x R3 page, now it can be configured with GTX580M.

@ Putochip, yeah desktop version is much more powerful and cheaper compared to its mobile counterpart, no doubt about that. smile.gif
Oh ya putochip, you don't have any discounts for new M17x R3? laugh.gif

man!!!
i would upgrade if it is big difference D:
just curious why it doesn't support 3D lol!

From what I've heard it is 15-20% increase from HD6970M, but we can't say much if there is no proper review and comparison between those two cards.
I've been wondering, where is AMD Blackcomb XTX (rumoured to be HD6990M)?
That would be a cheaper alternative to the GTX580M.

Guys, it looks like someone can sell AW with a cheaper price here.
http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=1922229&hl=
Wonder whether this is trustable or not? hmm.gif

He offers me RM900 discount for M17x R3 with GTX580M, and still negotiable.

haha, afraid bring along too much money with me. laugh.gif

But after reading tech inferno review (m18x vs m17x r2 vs m17x r3), I'm going with R2,
planning to install dual HD6970M in the future myself, if I could get the parts with reasonable price,
which is quite hard in the UK.lol laugh.gif

If anybody interested, this is link to the review, http://www.techinferno.com/2011/07/07/alie...the-universe/3/
very in depth review, they spent months doing it. smile.gif

*
I think people from NBR just use 240W psu to power up CrossfireX HD6970 in their M17x R2 iinm.

i said 300W if u need 2 6970s

I think I did mentioned crossfireX which means two 6970s did I? biggrin.gif
Btw from what I read at NBR, it is possible to install 2 6970s in the R2 using default psu, but I still didn't try it because still haven't get my M17x R2.
But of course for overclocking purpose, 300W psu will come in handy. smile.gif

basically, R2 is better than R3 which quality is better, R2 made up of aluminium, and the beneath cover is made up for some alloy where i dont know how to explain. 2nd thing R2 have RGBLED, where R3 only WLED. R2 got 2 PCIE slot of 2 graphic cards where R3 only have 1. this is always i was mentioning. but the only weak point on R2 is 1st gen proccessor where might have throttle issue on 2 6970M. we will see the review
Yeap, basically all those things that attract me towards R2, but of course R3 is going to win in term of processing power. smile.gif

Yeah, it has its own pros and cons, but to me, all the pros in R3 is not that important for me lol. laugh.gif

calm down man, dont be too serious, outside review are paid to do review, so they will do everything to optimise, where u found that benchmark on notebookcheck there, i comfirm 100% not accurate, GTX580M score at 13k? my 6970 score a the same range. 6990 also the same, i rather save those 600USD or 300USD for just a small small different....... but still nvdia always have the best driver(no throttle issue, no shuttering) where my 6970/ greassemonkey 6970Xfire also having this issue. and im not saying nvidia is better as well, they offer overprice GC just to clock up some on the older version and come out new version. i own all the series of Alienware, and i have most of the specs, u can ask here people. just dont waste money on some of the minor different from what u said. i rather go for 6970..... save 300++ for other stuff or SSD upgrade, no matter how strong is ur PC, without SSD also cannot.

If i did offense u, im so sorry. Maybe im not well in doing home work, i know how to save money only

some how, 6970/6990/GTX580 are compatible to M17x-R2 but just power supply problem and bios support
*
No worries regarding BIOS support, original A10 BIOS is compatible with HD6970M card, not so sure about HD6990M though,
but since they are quite similar, I think it will be suitable as well.

I bought from garage sale, you can find ezytronic, I think he still has one unit of M17x, but that one is R3.
I am lucky to get a complete set unit, with cap, mousepad and all.
Oh ya I bought it around Rm5k+. smile.gif

Im not so sure whether it is completely new or not, but everything is included, even the screen protector that comes with
the original unit, it stills smell new!
I guess it must a customer cancel order, as there is no any defect for now. smile.gif
But I am going to upgrade the CPU and GPU of this beast sooner or later anyway. biggrin.gif
